The Buffalo Bills are off to a 2-0 start. They have beaten a ####ed up Seahawks team and a playoff team on there hot oven turf in Jacksonville last weekend. I was very impressed by their come from behind victory last week, something that this still very young team would not have done last year.
But the most impressive thang about these victories is the way all 3 units have come up with huge plays at the right times. This is what playoff teams do. The win against the Jags will boast confidence in a club that expects to make the playoffs. And if they can beat the Raiders at home to go 3-0 this weekend they have a pretty good chance to go 5-0 with games coming up in St. louis and Arizona. But i will take 4-1 anyday.
But I wish Tom Brady did not get hurt
We all know that with Tom Brady getting hurt it slides the Patroits down a notch. People seem to underestimate the Pats. They did not win those super bowl trophys without having a great team. I for one still think the Pats are the best team overall in the division. and it pains me to say this cause i hate then with a passion. But until somebody beats them for the divison crown, they still the team to beat.
I for one wish that he did NOT get hurt. I would have loved to see this Bills team play against NE at full strength. Even with Brady i thought the Bills had a chance this year to give em a better game than the 56-10 A@@ kicking they got at home last fall.
A 10-6 record will win the AFC east this year
my thinking is that 10-6 will win the division this year. But who has the best chance at this? Ive looked at the schedules of Buffalo, the Pats and the Jets. These teams all play the NFC west which is not stiff compition in my eyes. So it comes down to who does win the matchups within the division.
This year is really a tossup. Any one of these teams can win it. Buffalo does not play the AFC east until week 8. NE and the jets have already played in NYC with the Pats winning. You have to figure Brett Farve will be much better in the second half of the season. The Patroits will figure to slide late in the year when teams figure out Matt Cassel. Buffalo the last 2 yrs has played strong in the middle of the year and fade down in December.
Thinking whoever goes 5-1 against the division foes will win the division. so really all the AFC east games this year are mini playoff games. With Buffalo and the Patriots getting off to fast starts it might be between those 2 teams. The thing that might push buffalo over the top in special Teams play. They have the best punt return man in the NFL with Roscoe Parrish, (Sorry Devin Hester) the best kicker and punter in the division . That usually translates into 2 extra wins year. If those 2 extra wins come against the AFC east, I love the Bills chances. bills 10-6 ,4-2 division Pats 10-6, 3-3 Jets 9-7, 2-4
anybody with comments will be replyed to. GO BILLS
For the first time in some years we Bills fans have a legit shot at the post-season. Why do i think so?Here are the things that should and could happen this year.
Trent Edwards improvement and new offensive game calling. These two go hand in hand. Trent should be much better with a year under his belt. I really like this young QB. He seems to have all the things you cant teach, poise under presser, quick release ,smarts . Turk as OC should open up the game plan this year with more passes to the RB's (Marshawn, Jackson) and getting the ball to Evans much more than they did last year.
More red zone scores.................this is a must . somehow someway the Bills have to score more points. Thinking Hardy with his height will give Lee Evans and Josh Reed and even Roscoe Parrish some one on one matchups. Watch for more use of the TE in the red zone however ends up with that role.
Better Defense against the run................. with Marcus Stroud, Kyle Williams, Spencer Johnson and John McCargo the Bills might have chance reduce the yards against on the ground. With Pozlusky and Mitchell and Crowel at LB, the whole front seven should be bigger and better than they were last year. On paper they look improved, if they play to the hype the defense will be much better than lasts year team.
Continued great special teams play..............Bobby April is THE best special team coach in the league and it shows. We lost some standout players during the offseason but i dont think it will mater all that much. My thinking is they will let rookie McKelvin handle more kickoff returns as the season wears on to spell McGee from that role. Parrish was the best punt returner in the league last year in my eyes and with Moorman and Lindel can countinue to play above average, this unit will win at least 2 games this year .
Coaching........the Bills were better than many people thought last year and if Jauron can continue to have a team that is one of the least penalized teams and if Perry Fewel can use all the new talent on defense to his advantage this team with a much softer schedule should be 10-6, no worse than 9-7. first time i have said the bills will have a winning record in my 3 yrs posting so lets see if they can stay HEALTHY this year and make it happen
Jason Peters
Dont worry Bills fans............after Walker gets burned by Jason Taylor and the Steelers D- line in Toronto the first 2 preseason games, the Bills will go get Jason, feed him a big meal, bring him to camp, have him checked by the doctors and he will be on the field opening day...... I promise lol
Brett Favre and the Packers
I for one believe Farve should have never retired in the first place. He was one game away from the super Bowl, had a fabulous season, why leave ? But he did retire and by doing so he gave the Packers the right to move on. Brett changed his mind, people do these things and if I was the Packers brass i would let Brett come back and play with open arms, no questions asked.
But this is what i would have done if I was the Packers..... As soon as Brett retired i would have gave him an title in the Packers organization, hell make up a title for him. give him something to do to make his transition from football an easy one......who knows maybe he would have stayed retired???? But since they didnt they opened the door for Brett to change his mind, which he did. Now the Pack is in a terrible spot. Glad that the Commish forced the issue to get this resolved...great move by him But an open QB battle??????.....please ........................ Everybody and they grandmother know Brett Will be the starter on opening day IN GREEN BAY It too late to make a trade.......everybody is at training camp with there plans in place for the season now. The Packers will have alot of explaining to do if Brett is not under center week one and they have nobody to blame but themselfs for this mess nuff said.... all comments will be replyed to so holla at your boy :) Peace
Wow i didn't realize its been almost 10 months since i last posted. Promise to be more in to it this season as i missed most of last year. First of all the Bills Defense cost the a playoff run last year for the second year in a row. All the injuries on Defense did not help so give them a pass on that. Seems like the Bills higher ups figured out (about time) that they need to get stronger in the middle of the line. Marcus Stroud if he stays healthy could be one of the steals of the offseason. I was very impressed and excited when they signed him. Kawika Mitchell LB from the Giants gives the Bills a bigger body and a better player than Keith Ellison, who was way undersized for his position. Spencer Johnson DT from the Vikings gives them depth at DT and will fill the same role he did with the Vikings. The fact that Paul Posluszny is back from the broken arm and Ko Simpson recovering from his broken ankle will make the defense better in the middle. These moves and with Poz coming back will make ends Kelsey and Schobel better, hopefully they will have Schobel stay on the line and do what he does best, rush the passer instead of dropping back in zone coverage, which had me shaking my head at times. I like this defense. Maybe they should draft a corner in the second round in the draft to give them more depth. if Ashton Youbooty plays well enough to earn the coaches confidence they maybe have a defense that can at least get off the field more than the last 2 yrs, which would give the offense more chances to score. and speaking of offense.......
Bills should keep Losman
Many people say trade him since he is unhappy with the backup role. But he never proved himself worthy of the starting job. Besides if he stays the Bills will have an experinced QB on the bench that knows the system and you know sooner or later he will play since it is rare the starting QB makes it threw the whole season. I like Trent Edwards alot, he seems to have the things the Losman does not have except from the cannon arm but he is the better QB. Edwards is still young but he has plenty of upside. With Turk Schonert and Alex Van Pelt running the offense, with both being former QBs in the league it seems they will let Edwards call more audibles during the game, which is not what they did to much at all last year. Edwards is smart enough to handle this and i think the whole offense should be better just because of that. Cant wait to see who the Bills get in the draft at WR. Malcom Kelly or Limas Sweed seems like either one may fill the Bill but both have injury concerns. The player I like the most at WR coming out is Devin Thomas from Mich St. He may not be as big as Kelley or Sweed but he can take it to the house on any play and at 6'1 is big enough to be a red zone factor.
Dont be surprised if the Bills do this in the draft, Move down while picking up some second day draft pics. (the Lions maybe a trade partner) and picking Thomas with the 15th pick overall OR..... drafting the best CB in the first round on the board and making a trade to move up in the second round to grab a second tier WR in the early second round. Taking a CB in the first round would be a smart move also, depending how they feel about Youbooty. with Randy Moss and Ted Ginn in the division, you have to be able to defend the pass well. Thats all i have for now, will answer any question or replys to my post.
First off,a quick story on me and my dog early in my life. I used to race my dog in the middle of the park for a few bucks a pop. She had some greyhound in her so she usually won. She mostly was a Dobbie (Doberman). After a few times it got good to me and I would challange just about anybody who wanted to race. My Queenie loved to run anyway, so it was all good.
After one race, after she won the dude whos dog she had beat wanted to go someplace and have a dog fight, partly cause he was mad because he had just lost 10 bucks to me. I had to that point never fought my dog ,but I was interested because I had never had seen dogs fight before.
We get to his basement and it was clear he had fought his dog before. He was telling me and my friends all about it while we were getting ready. And the brother was only 19 or 20 to my best guess. After setting up his pit, I was shocked to see how small it was. I had a bad feeling about it and I backed out at the last minute. I even gave the cat his 10 bucks back for backing out. Funny thing, my dog looked at me as to say "I am a runner not a fighter" as soon as we left the basement. I think my dog would have fought for me but I could not do that to her. I was 15 at the time.
My point being, dogfighting has been a thing to do in the hood for a long time now. True its a underground thing buts it is there. I used to walk my dog everywhere and I got quite a few offers to fight my dog. But I always switched it over to racing them, which I knew my dog would win.
Maybe some people look at dogfighting as a badge of honor . "Yea dude I got the baddest dog in the neighborhood, come try me me out....." . Dont get me wrong, I think dogfighting sucks to the fullest degree, it only benefits the people who are betting on it, with all the damage being done to the dogs, both the winners and losers of the fight. I hate to say this, but its a way to make some money and even though its a cruel way to do it, some people will just because of that fact.
Vick....from Steaks +Shrimp to PeanutButter and jelly Sandwiches
Maybe some of the things that happened to me happened to Vick. After doing some research on the net, he came up from a poor hood also. Matter of fact, hes for the PJ's (Project buildings) in Newport News. Maybe when HE was walking down the street he got challanged to a dogfight also. Maybe he did go into somebodys house and basement and did fight his dog. And you know what? His dog surely won. Maybe he won 20 or 30 bucks a fight. When you are poor 20 bucks might as well be 100 dollars. And it became a badge of honor for him. It got good to him. Having a dog can earn you some "stripes" in the hood if he can fight . Maybe he got a rep for have some mean #### dogs. Just as I got some rep for having the fastest dog. And let me tell you it feels good. Its a source of pride.
Let me say that nobody told me that dogfighting was illegal. Maybe nobody in Mikes crew told him that you can go to jail for this. Nobody had to tell ME it was wrong. Common sense told me it was wrong. The way my Quennie looked at me when we went in the basement that day told me it was wrong. I am sure Mike loves dogs. No way you can tell me he doesnt . But he had been fighting dogs for a long time and like I said before, it got Good to him.
Now I am quite sure that this love for dogfighting continued while he was at Virginia Tech. You mean nobody at this College told him to stop? None of his teammates told him to think about what he was doing? Could he have keep this a secret at College? Was he that smart not to tell anybody? As anybody who has attended any college will tell you...... some of your skeletons that you are hiding tend to come out at some point. Ok maybe...but I have my doubts.
After getting to the Pros and all the screening that the players go under, it is hard to believe that somebody..anybody did not know that one of the best talents to ever play at any position had this sort of passion in his life. Now 98 percent of what went down is on Micheal Vick himself. No Doubt. But its hard to believe that some in the Falcons Building did not know this was going on. I believe strongly that he was told to stop by SOMEBODY. Mr Blank, Dan Reeves, Jim Mora, one of his teammates SOMEBODY knew.
It saddens me deeply that one of the NFLs best players has to go jail for something that could have easily been nipped at the bud . It seems silly doenst it? I hope the judge in the case goes easy on him. Because I would love to see him play again. But if he did kill those dogs like they say he did.....well I dont fell too sorry for him because every time I hear the details of the story ....well I think of Queenie .
He has a chance to do just that. With the money the Bills spent on the O-line this offseason, he may have more time to throw. But we will see on that one. I myself have doubts about Walker at RT. But if he does get more time at the line the TE's and RB's will have more chances to catch the ball instead of helping in pass protection.
The Bills have weapons on offense. Lee Evans and Roscoe Parrish are game breakers, Josh Reed is good in the slot. I am waiting see see what Marshawn #### can do not only running with the Rock, but catching it out of the backfield also. The A-train can run and catch as well. I have to see more of Peerless Price ,but overall there is talent on the offense. TE is a weak spot but look for the Bills to run a 3 or 4 WR set anyway, to get the best use of their talent.
The Bills all offseason say that they will use RB's by commitee. I doubt that will be the case once #### proves that he is the best running back on the team once the pads go on in Training camp.Maybe early on in the year the A-train will get his share of carries and maybe even Dwayne Wright might get his share. But when you need a horse when the weather turns in the Fall, I think you will see #### get most of the carries. Just a hunch :) Plus looks like he will be a great reciever out of the backfield.Mmm.....Did somebody tell Marv Levy that he has a Bigger version of Thomas Thomas on draft day? I cant wait to find out. :)
Will the defense be better or worse than last year?
This is what keep the Bills out of the playoffs last year. Even with Flecther, Spikes, Clements the Bills have one of the worst run defenses in the NFL last year. Maybe thats why they are gone huh?
The Bills will miss Clements, who when motivated is one of the better CB's in the league. They did pick up Jason Webster this spring, and if he can stay injury free maybe a steal and may start with MaGee at corner. MaGee has some pressure on him this year, he will likely be the one to shut down the opposing teams best WR. He has to raise his game up a notch..we will see if he does it. Dont think Ashton Youbooty is ready to start, but he maybe ready to fight for that slot position along with Greer. Dont sleep on Kiwaukee Thomas who may sneak up and grab that spot that Clements use to have. But CB is not a problem.
the D-line and LBs worry me, just like last year. Time is coming close on the Darwin Walker thing. I think the Bills are waiting to see if John McCargo is going to be healthy for trainging camp before they make a move on Walker. Walker would be a boast to the defense but how much? Looks like to me they are the same type of player except Walker is the proven one. We will see what happens.
Lb worries me even more than the D-line. A Rookie (Pozlusky) may start at MLB, but I would not sleep on John DiGiorgio how right now is ahead of Poz on the depth chart right now. Plus, Crowell is coming off a broken leg...is he going to be 100 percent for the first month of the season? Plus is Keith Ellison ready for full time duty on the weak side? These are major questions. If the Bills are better than they were last year it would be a miracle.
Prediction 7-9 record
With the 2nd most difficult schedule in the NFL, even a die-hard fan like myself does not see this team as a playoff team right now. The Defense is going to need some time to jell. And that may take half a season. By then its almost to late. I dont see improvement on the D-line even if Walker does decide to report and the Depth is weak at DL and LB.
Special Teams might win 2 games that you might lose and flip the record to 9-7, but the schedule is too tough to see major improvement this year.
