Pre-season analysis
Jul 08, 2008 | 8:49PM | report this

Thank you all for your interest in writing a pre-season team analysis. The idea is to designate 20 posters to write a pre-season analysis of a single team. About 500 words should do it, more is probably ok. Also, give a team prediction and an overall prediction. Then send me the post. I'll proofread it and collate them into a single presentation as the kick-off for the prediction blog. The posts need to be in by August 1st.

So far, I think we have the following posters:

Liverpool: Liverpool73
West Ham: London Hammers
Tottenham: WHL
Sunderland: Red Smoke
Hull City: Yankshire
Chelsea: PbRMasterKiller1
Arsenal: Canis Lupus
Middlesborough: Arsenal111
Newcastle: Geordie lad
Everton: 3lions9
Aston Villa: OPEN
WBA: Nasritogunner
Blackburn: ManUtdHonour
Portsmouth: Achilles
Manchester City: Kleekster
Wigan: Jaybxnyc
Stoke City: FFC Duex
Fulham: Onelovesoccer
Manchester United: NE Red Devil
Bolton: Zibbie

Those are tentative posters. Please let me know if you are interested and/or that I got the right poster by his designated team above.

I hope that Mc Talian and FFC come forward and pick teams to write about. McTal did a great job in his Euro analysis and Duex is a writer. If Dirtbag#1 could write one about Newcastle or Bolton that would be great. BridgeWarrior suggested Layni for Chelsea...if she is not interested then perhaps Bridge could do it.

There are so many knowledgeable posters on the boards and I hope you are willing to give us sampling of your insights. ABQMUFC, Gooner4lyfe, Manujamfan and AFC74 would also be great contributors.

Let me know what you guys are thinking.

da- didnt know FFC also likes to write. Like I said, he can have Spurs, I had planned to do my own thing before this idea came about, so don't worry about me feeling bad, him taking my spot, it is a-ok with me.

PS BRAZZ is a samba dancing member of the toon army i believe.

I'm on it daFootballs. I've started my own blog to collect information but I probably wont submit the official version to you until nearer the deadline. I still think we may buy a player or two and there's always the injury curse coming back to haunt us in the pre-season matches. If Ashton breaks his leg against the MLS Allstars I won't be happy...!

I think GeordieLad was asked to do the Newcastle one yesterday by 73 and he agreed.

ABOUT ME

daFootballs
I was given my first ball when I was three. I have been playing ever since. I played on youth teams in Europe. When I was eight, I won my local Bobby Charlton competition. I played high school and college in the USA. I played in two NCAA tournaments. Today, I play in local leagues both indoors and outdoors. All four of my kids play, in our local top flights and one in college. I started coaching when I was in highschool. Now, I have been coaching for 24 years. I love the game more than I do any one particular team. In my youth I started following the EPL(not called the EPL then but the English top flight). I support English teams when playing in Europe. I support American players in the EPL. I support the USA in the World Cup. Every year the MLS is becoming more enjoyable.
