Maybe this has already been decided but I didn't get a say in it so I'm creating my list of contenders for the award and would like to get some input from you boogers, oh, I mean bloggers.
1. Roger Federer aka the tennis god who won 10 tournaments in 2005.
2. Tiger Woods, he should be considered every year just for his effort.
3. Lance Armstrong, the cycling freak. Cloud of steriod use is a minus.
4. Tony Stewart, domination of the nextel cup was one hell of a show.
5. Antonio Tarver, a bear in the ring in 2005 deserves consideration.
6. Ben Roethlisberger, the leader of steeler nation. Hell, he won the a super bowl, lets give the guy some credit.
7. Ozzie Guillen, this is questionable I know. But he, not a certain player, led this team to the title.
Federer is so dominant but Tennis is really down right now in the US in terms of coverage. If Tennis was Bjorn Borg/Johnny Mac big imagine what a star he'd be!
i still have a tough time accepting golfers and race car drivers as "athletes." i dont doubt either woods or stewart are in pretty good shape, i just dont think that is the key to their success.
i dont follow tennis at all, so i cant say much about federererererererer.
ditto for boxing...or w/e antonio tarver does.
ben roethlisberger....if we're talking any football players, it would probably have to include the name reggie bush.....
ozzie guillen?....ummmm...i think not.
lance armstrong....without trying to start a war here, i'm just going to guess either he or barry bonds would get ultramega's vote, since anything they may have done regarding steroids he considers irrelevant. oh, and i dont believe training for, and winning, 1 race means much, especially considering he had an entire team of fellow racers blocking most of the competition. has to make you wonder if any of them would have been good enough to win. just like nascar, cycling is becoming a team sport, which sucks.
no mention of kobe bryant? i wouldnt vote for him either, but he's popular...i guess.
steve nash? tony parker? lebron? carmello? chauncey billups? jerome bettis? roger clemens? who knows.....my guess is lance armstrong wins, since he won last year for doing basically the same thing for 7 straight years.
i think it has to be reggie bush for this one, come on now im not even a bush/usc fan and i can see he had the most spectacular season of any individual in 05
Seattle fan lost in living in western Kentucky, seeking a ride to the great northwest. I'll make it there one day. If you happen to like the Mariners, Supersonics, or the Seahawks then let us conversate and if you dispute my teams then allow us to debate.
