Last week I said it would be tough for KyleBusch to improve on his three finishes from Daytona. Damn if Rowdy didn't go out and do it. He had a first, a second, and a fourth at Cali. Slim is en fuego.
Told you last week to add Matt Kenseth to your fantasy team for the Cup race. He had a solid top five at California. For Vegas I'll advise you to add JeffBurton, any Roush driver not named McMurray or Ragan, KaseyKahne should be good for a top ten, and stick with Kyle while he's hot. Did I mention he's en fuego?
TonyStewart broke his pelvis in an IRL crash at Vegas in 1996, and he has never won a Cup race in Vegas.
Have you heard the latest about the track at Fontana? Last Friday, while drying the track, the jet blowers used too much heat. This supposedly burnt the polymer sealant off the track. They are saying this is what caused the weepers. Excuse me while I call bullsh!t.
Just about everyone has already heard that RCR is trying to sign BobbyLabonte for next year. Labonte would bring the much coveted past champion's provisional. Also hearing that long time Petty sponsor, GeneralMills, would go with Labonte to RCR.
RobbyGordon's appeal will be heard on March 5th, in Daytona. YeeMum, and I have already beat this dead horse to a second death.
KertusDavis will have the first female crew chief in NASCAR history in this week's Nationwide race. CindyWoosley will lead the #01, LoriMorgan Chevy in Vegas.
With female crew chiefs now, can hot drivers be far behind?
Good for Cindy. Charlie Daniels song comes to mind with a few changes, Ok alot.
Boys let me tell you what:
"I bet you didn't know it, but I'm a harmonica player crew chief too.
"And if you'd care to take a dare, I'll make a bet with you.
"Now you play a pretty good harmonica, boys, but give me and Lori are due:
"I bet a win of gold against your drivers, 'cos I think I'm better than you."
The boys said: "Your name's Cindy Woosley and it might be a win,
"But I'll take your bet, your gonna regret, 'cos we are the best that's ever been."
The boys bowed their heads because they knew that they'd been beat.
they laid that golden harmonica on the ground at Cindy's feet.
Cindy said: "Boys just come on back if you ever want to try again.
Not that Cindy is like this at all. Just thought it would be funny if she told a few of them this.
If she wares them red shorts it will be a safty issue.
CJ - Kyle is having a good year - there must be a Toyota bounty on the 1st Cup win the way he and Stewart are going at it.
I hope Kertus gets in too. It'd be nice of a Cup regular didn't make the race and a guy who'd probably run the whole season (if he has sponsorship) did instead.
It's gotta be a first for NASCAR to get rained out in Southern California and those dudes just don't have a clue what to do with a wet track... Maybe the excuse is valid unless the track crew is straight up NASCAR instead of the local track's personnel...
I'm still on the fence about a driver to follow. I like Mark Martin, problem is I like Ford too... The jury is out...
CJ ~ Ms. Woosley made history last week in Cali as she was the crew chief for Kertus, after his regular crew chief was suspended for six races following Daytona.
D-Man.....I have very little knowledge of hydrostatic pressure, but when water pressure builds up enough it is going somewhere. I doubt a polymer sealant on top of the asphalt could stop water from shooting through once it's made it's way all the way up from the bottom.
Greg Biffle drives a Ford,#16. Great driver, and a good guy. He WILL be in the Chase for the Championship this year. Jump on before the bandwagon fills up.
I appreciate your help. I'm still learning the ropes.

Lori....Thanks for dropping by. My source said that last week Kertus' father was listed as the crew chief. Cindy has been the car chief since last year.
I could be wrong---Damn, again?---but the way I've heard it, is this week will be her first being listed as the crew chief.
I looked up Greg Biffle and he's a natural! I used to live in Washington and the number 16 (Joe Montana) is one of my favs... Plus he's in a Ford and the top 10! Thanks for the advice!
"Cindy Woosley is scheduled to serve as crew chief of the No. 01 Johnny Davis Motorsports Chevrolet to be driven by Kertus Davis at Las Vegas, which gives her the distinction as the first female crew chief in any of NASCAR's national series.
She also handled those duties for the team at Auto Club Speedway Monday, replacing regular crew chief Gene Allnut, who is serving a six-race suspension because of rule violations at Daytona. A native of Kentucky, Woosley got into racing two years ago and has been with the team for a year. She's worked as a sheet metal fabricator but has always had an affinity for working on cars."
Lori...I will go with your info since the second paragraph says she already did. But, the first paragraph says she.... is 'scheduled' to serve ...which gives her...the first.
I googled her just now. Most of the sites say she will be the first this week. ESPN says the same as your NASCAR release. ESPN also says that the original crew chief, Gene Allnutt, was in the pits at Fontana.
Great post CJ...Rowdy es muy fuego! Had no idea Tony broke his pelvis in IRL...interesting. Most of all GOOOOOO! Cindy! Woohoo! Love to see more women involved with this sport (other than the wives...) I met some great women in the garages who really knew their stuff.
CJ, Thanks, While reading your post and during that section about Cindy that song came to me and I started singing it. Not that I would ever do a open mic if you know what I am saying. lol
I don't want to know what it feels like getting hit with a beer bottle from the crowd.
If a horse died over the Robby Gordon deal, what was the final outcome ?
kristen...thanks for reading and commenting. Yeah, I couldn't remember ever hearing that about Tony either. While researching this, I learned that it was his most serious racing injury.
Forensic2....that dead horse died several more times from the beatings Yee Mum and I gave it on several posts. She took the 'catch and release' posistion, where as I took the 'catch, filet, and release' side. Thanks.

“Dark side” ? Nope .. One disagreement (albeit a doozy) does not a feud make. half of my comments ont he subject I used you as the generic "them" since you were more vocal on that side.
We do agree on many levels (just not that one)

countryjag,
I've heard that General Mills would have a problem moving to RCR with Labonte. Seems that they hold to the PE Enterproses mantra of not wanting to be associated with other sponsors that sell tobacco or alcohol(Jack Daniel's).
CJ, I heard the same thing moseby heard. I hope it is true. It will shock me if Labonte leaves the Petty family. I saw an interview when he left Gibbs to go there where he (Labonte) stated he had prayed about it and he felt it was where he needed to be. Good blog, thanks.
volfan....thanks for the chime. If Bobby ever wants to win a race again he has to leave Petty. They have fallen so far behing by underspending that they will never catch up.
Hey SC...I've seen some of your comments to my boy Bolt Backer. You always have something worth hearing. Always room for new race fans. Thanks for checking out my blog.
The General Mills position I saw on Jayski.com. It wasn't an official statement, but they got a quote from Robby Loomis. And I agree that Bobby has to leave Petty if he ever wants to win another Cup race. They are not only too cheap, they keep letting Kyle drive the #45 car. Kyle is a great ambassador for the sport, but he hasn't been able to drive in at least ten years...
mose....good to see someone tell it like it is about the Pettys. They have done less---racing---with more sponsor's dollars than any team ever. Don't even get me started on Kyle.
I noticed your comments on another blog a couple of days ago, and I said, "Damn, this guy knows what he's talking about." Chime in on my blog anytime.

CJ- Sorry so late to your party. This is a great write-up. Kyle is on a roll, and you've given me added incentive to watch the Nationwide race. Now I just have to memorize the pit stall #.
I think NASCAR should be concerned about the reunification of American open wheel racing. If NASCAR is smart, they will try to maintain some of their core fans. Robbie Gordon's team represents what NASCAR used to be. Therefore, core fans wheather they like Robbie or not, are rallying for him based on principle. NASCAR has had a free ride the last 10 years, with little competition. It would be a mistake for NASCAR to assume they can ignore the concerns of the core fan in this or other matters. jmo
I think Bobby would be a good fit for RCR. I like the Pettys, but I like Bobby also. It would be really great to see them both back in Victory Lane. If not together than separately.
