Time after time after time, I read an Jason Whitlock article and I think to myself is this guy serious? Is he really that fed up about Hip-Hop destroying the African American culture (so he claims)? Or could it be that after writing crappy articles about sports in which he usually comes across as a know it all, that gets scathing reviews from readers and has to make nice by taking jabs at the product (African American Atheletes) to get some browny points. Jason my point to you is that this is the ONLY TIME that you ever get praise. The comment pages on MSN are filled with hatred filled tyraids, you being an columnist here obviously knows the sentiments of the readers...........So what do you do, you attack your own kind. I sat by idol and watched you slam Chad Johnson, by saying how his hip-hop attitude is destroying the team, but this latest one on Sean Taylor went too damn far. You exploited him, you kicked his family in the gut while they were at the saddest points of their lives. You made him out to be this Gangsta, thug type that the hood came back and claimed. Instead of telling the TRUTH. In reality he was in his home with his family and trying to protect them from intruders. You and the media in general took a few incidents (Including his agressive style of play that got him to the NFL) and made that a part of his character. First I want to touch on his off field incidents an DUI (That was thrown out of court) and him pulling an weapon because of a dispute with him trying to GET BACK WHAT WAS STOLEN FROM HIM AND HIS FAMILY and when the facts came to light about the circumstances, it was found out that the lead prosecutor was exploiting this to further a side venture as an DJ, the charges went from facing 40+ years in prison to Misdemeanor Charges and probation. But to you and the media this wasn't enough let's further drag his name in the mud by adding in the fact that he was fined for some helmet to helmet blows and him spitting in the face of an wife beater (Michael Pittman) of course we didn't hear what was said between the two, but I can gurantee you that much worse happens on the field. Only people that have played the game beyond the HS level can even understand this. You play a violent game, so you have to play angry and become a person that you are not off the field to play at such an high intensity, does that make him a thug? Did it make Bill Romanowski one (late hits, spitting in opponents faces, punching a TEAMMATE so hard in the eye that he lost a percentage of his vision and nearly cost him his career)? You won't objectively compare the two or many incidents that happen in the league between all races. A bunch of 20 year old kids with millions of dollars, in the best phyiscal condition of their lives, and loads of testostrone to fuel the hoards of women and jealous people that see them and become furious and also see a way to make $$$$ with a quick out of court settlement. But you will make an absurb statement as to how as certain type of MUSIC is to blame. Some one called you a house #### the other day, and I agree with that statement. Because you dont' have any substance to you, you don't ever have a solution. You just attack blindly and you are unwittingly (I pray) becoming a tool for the ignorant views of many people. People like to throw out a few stats about how things have gotten better etc. for blacks which is true to an extent, You said we are our own worst enemy, again which is true to an extent. But comparing us to the ####????? I try to understand your angle, SHOCK VALUE RIGHT? Jason Whitlock, keeping it real( term from the Hip-Hop culture that you seem to hate, but use) Shock Columnist / Poor Sports Writer. I grew up in the Hip-Hop Culture, and I have an associates degree and an Bachelors Degree in accounting, but I still listen to hip-hop, and it dosen't make me want to kill anyone. I grew up in Mississippi the poorest state in the nation, in the Mississippi Delta the poorest region in the State. Cotton is still king, Klan rallies still go down at the county court house and I'm only 27. What MS is #1 in is Poverty, Infant Mortality, Uneducated, Illiteracy, Obesity, Poor Health, so on and so on in about every bad thing that you can think of. But nope it's all hip-hop's fault right? I get called a #### to my face but that's hip-hop's fault right? I graduated from every school I attended with honors but had the hardest time finding a job while my white class mates had jobs that paid more fresh out of school. Me the guy that played ball for them wasn't good enough to get a job, Is that hip-hop's fault? No it's the system we live in, the natural gravitation to be comfortable towards those that we are accustomed to. The funny thing is when a white person tries to validate that they are not prejudice (and I use this in place of Racist, because that is a strong term) by saying I have A black friend. Most of us worship the Same God and never worship together, never attend the same schools (epecially prevelant in my region), live in the same neighbor hoods, watch the same things. Talk the same, eat the same, party the same, mourn the same, etc. So what does America do, they take something that wasn't a big deal 20 yrs ago hip-hop that was just fine when only blacks listen to it and supported it. But now it's gone main stream to suburban white kids, they're wearing the clothes picking up on the slang etc. Let's be real everybody this has some white parents worried sick. When their son comes home and is behaving like a ####. Corporate America stands blameless the hide behind the 1st amendment like you Jason and the slaves like you( hip-hop artists) do all the dirty work. But now some of the slaves have broken free and are becoming Billionaires off of this #### Jungle Music (as I've heard it called before). Now unchecked with money to burn they are the monsters that Corp. America Created. Big Business created this with controlling what the artist themselves can even put out. Common, Talib Kweli, Mos Def, Dead Prez, The Roots, Goodie Mobb, Organized Noise, and so so many others have a totally different message and you're right we get Soulja Boy saying supa soak them hoes instead. Jason this Country is so vested on keeping the poor/poor (all poor people across the races) and they have used the divide and conquer strategy to pefection. While we bicker and #### and complain about all the minor and petty #### other things that we should be all unified together to bring an end to goes unnoticed, we get so mad at little Reggie for stealing our nice Lexus from the mall parking lot that we ignore how Big Business and even our own elected Gov't robs us blind Daily. Jason go back to the "hood" or any poor area of town. Tell me this how many signs will you see around for people wanting to lend money, title loans, fast cash stores. It seems that they wouldn't want to come into an area where it's poor. Global Credit Checking schemes where you can be current with a certain creditor and still be in default because you didn't pay off the next guy. WTF???!!!! We gotta wake up, Jason Wake up man. Don't be a tool for ignorance you have a platform and you should use wisely since you want to step into the social commentary business. TELL THE WHOLE TRUTH!!!
