I Too Would Like To Think My 7th Grade PE Performace Helped The '91 Redskins
Nov 12, 2007 | 9:30AM | report this

Typically, this blog focuses on the heinous half-truths spewed by our nation's various talk radio hosts.  That said, I have have to comment on a hot topic of discussion, and a bone to pick with a television personality.  On the CBS Pregame Show, there is a segment called "True/False."  In this segment, the four talking heads appear on the screen and press a little true or false button with the answer appearing beneath their goofy ####.

So the question comes up: If the Patriots go unbeaten,  the accomplishment will be tainted. Shannon, Boomer, and Cowher press the false button.  Dan presses.....

nothing

The segment was called True OR False.  There is no riding the fence.  Of course, Dan is somehow toeing the Dolphin line.  These oldtimers are really bothersome.  The tide has finally turned against them with their rhetoric.  The champagne popping has been annoying for years.  Finally, others are on board.  As an aside, how much of a lack of a life do these folks have that they can be at a certain place within hours of a team losing?  I'm just saying...

Back to the matter at hand, and Dan Marino.  Here's my issue.  Dan Marino, by my calculation, was in the seventh grade when the Dolphins went undefeated.  He has nothing to defend as far as I'm concerned.  Heck, Shannon Sharpe, who held a Lombardi Trophy with the Ravens, blasts them regularly.  Say what you will about Sharpe, and his marble-mouthed commentary, but at least he gives an opinion.

This has me thinking.  Someone should ask Jason Campbell how it felt to lose to the Bears 73-0.  Or maybe that someone should ask Terrell Suggs how it felt to throw the block that sprang Chris McAlister for that 107 yard field goal return.  Or even better, how does Ben Roethlisberger feel about finally getting that ring for the thumb?  Dan Marino: you are paid in the here and now to comment on issues related to the NFL in the here and now.  Even if you perceive a conflict of interest, know that in this case, you had no bearing on something that happened 11 years prior to your arrival in the league.

Hypocrite alert: In 1972, the Dolphins were docked a first round draft pick.  The charge? Tampering with Don Shula, who was the Colts coach prior to then.  Hmmm, who had to scuttle back from asterisk talk?
