Today was the match up of the Vince Young and Jay Cutler. This game was a game that involved a lot of players who played together before getting drafted. They may have been on the same team in the NFL or played for the Titans. But this was a big game that Denver needed to win and did win with authority.
We can all agree that ESPNs comentary sucks more then a crack head trying to get her next hit but they really made me mad tonight.
I know, we know, America knows that Denver is not by all means a sexy team at all. I stand by my team win or lose and I have put them on blast but I have also givin credit where credit is due as well. Today it was all about Vince Young and the Titans. They made the Titans sound like they were the Pats, and Pats they are not.
Vince is a good QB I will give him that but as a whole the Titans are not that great. But not 1 time did they have anything nice to say about Cutler or the Broncos. When Denver actually plays football the way it needs to be played they are a very good team. The Broncos dominated this game tonight. Cutler is a very good QB we have just hits some bumps in the road on defense which to me looks like they are fixing. But Denver looked real good tonight and the Titans were still getting all the kudos. How can you say a team is that great when they are getting put to shame? Granted the Broncos could have played a little better but this was not an ugly sloppy game by any means. So where is the credit to the Broncos?
It was all about the Titans. To me personally I dont think the Titans are that great. Sure they are good but not great. ESPN give credit where credit is due or are you going to wait until they make the playoffs?
The Broncos are cleaning house. Well sorta Jim Bates isnt gone yet. But...... They have released 3 players, WR Brian Clark, S Curome Cox and DT Amon Gordon. The Broncos in return signed DE Larry Birdine rookie from the Oklahoma Sooners, Paul Carrington from the Falcons, Josh Mallard from where else? The Atlanta Falcons and WR Taylor Jacobs.
The one player who stands out to me is the Rookie Larry Birdine. In his carrer at Oklahoma he had 24.5 tackles for losses, 13.5 sacks and a whopping 103 tackles. He has a mouth from the South it is reported. Infact its so bad that its been reported that when you google his name it says Larry Birdine a.k.a The Mouth Of the South. I have looked it up and I havent found it but anyways.
He has done his first interview as a Denver Bronco and my goodness does he have a lot to say.
Before we get into it just a little history lesson. I promise its real small. Larry Birdine is the guy who in 2005 called USC an average team. And then lost to them 55-19.
He is a talker. A very big talker but.... he says its a for good reason. He likes to talk trash as much as he can because he gets into peoples head and catches them off their game and one he starts running his mouth people are soon to follow. He said he will not shut up unless the coach tells him to and even then he wont shut up.
This sounds great right? Well anything to help Denver out of the nasty slump they are in. The team as a whole is pretty much in their sophmore slump right now.
So my question is this. Will he end up being a big mouth like T.O? or will he actually help the team get motivated? I hope motivated because right about now I am starting to look into possible draft picks for next year starting with Quintin Groves, and right about now they way we are playing we are going to end up with a very high draft choice. Atleast in the top ten and it has been a while since that has happened.
This is Emilys shocked face. She made this face when she woke up and saw the Broncos were down 30-0 on sunday
And Dorryien turned his hat sideways so you didnt know he was rooting for the Broncos
Denver has faced its ups and downs, but we all know that they have had more downs then ups. Between 2 deaths, good guys leaving, a pot-head running back, and a lot of injuries the Broncos have yet another blow. Last nights game was just great Denver fans are feeling good the players are feeling good about the win but then someone has to ruin it for everybody as if there wasnt enough drama. Early this morning WR Brandon Marshall was arrested, yes arrested for a su####ion of DUI.
OK folks heres the thing partying it up after the game it all good the team deserved it but when you go out to party call a cab to go home. They even make it easy for you to remember the number to call. Either you call 303-333-3333 or 303-777-7777. How hard are those number to remember?
There has not been any reports of the blood alcohol level so I can get on his #### yet and throw him under the bus. At this point its all speculation.
At this point I am having my doubts about Brandon and his charactor and the kind of person he is. Not only did he get this arrest but........... him and his cousin started the confrontation that resulted in Darrent Williams being killed. Its all starting to come together and I have this bad feeling in my tum tum that says he is bad bad bad bad news, and after the fight at the club I truely feel that the bullet that got Darrent was actually for Brandon.
From the begining up until the San Diego game Denver showed no life in them only wining 2 games from 2 wining field goals. Thats how Denver won yet again but this time it was different, it wasnt a nail biter at the end like the other 2 were. Dont get me wrong I was still hoping that Jason Elam would make it. Who am I kidding that man is money. From all areas of the game Denver came to play. They all clicked and how sweet it was. We came in the game with everything working in the Steelers favor. Coming into the game Denver was the team to give up all the points and the Steelers were the ones to make all the points. The Steelers could run the ball and we couldnt stop the ball. That wasnt the case today. 4 sacks on Big Ben 2 interceptions on Big Ben and a fumble that was ran in for a touch down in Denvers favor. Who was this defense that showed up? And lets not talk about our offense. We were actually able to score and make big plays. Granted we should have scored a little bit more but none the less we were able to put points up on the board. Minus a few things here and there that can be improved the Broncos showed what they have been trying to say all along. They were able to get it done in practice but couldnt bring it to the field on game day. Well yesterday they finally brought it to game day and I could be happier. For the sake and sanity of the fans they won. All in all it was a damn good game.
A lot of Denvers defensive players were cut because they didnt fit into Jim Bates's defensive scheme. We lost a lot of talent for it. But now looking at Denvers defense it looks like Jim Bates isnt the one working out. He took one of the best defenses from last year and made them one of the worst this year. Denver has a lot of talent on the defensive side and we know this because we have seen them play but now that Jim has been here its been nothing but a huge mess. They keep saying we need more time we need more time but they have had enough time. If they cant get it together because they cant learn the scheme get rid of Bates because they could get it done last year. Jim Bates YOUR FIRED. I know the defense isnt the only problem but its a huge problem that needs to be fixed or I can kiss my season good bye.
As if your 2-2 team couldnt get it together things couldnt seem to get worse until it happens. Travis Henry is reported to have pot in his system. Travis is using the defense that his experts werent there so the league violated its own rules and he shouldnt face suspension. Travis you dumb #### dont tell the leauge that all they have to do is call you and your experts in and say ok if you want to use that for your defense guys what your 2 year probabtion is almost up heres a cup go #### in it. Dont fight it if your dirty your dirty. Now how do you expect to pay for all 100 million of your kids? Ok so that was an exaderation but still 9 babies is a lot.
We have seen it time and time again with Ricky Williams he smokes it up then is suspended then comes back and done it again. Ricky come pick your friend up.
Denver is having a hard enough time getting things together to be the explosive team that they should be and they dont need this distraction.
Denver start Selvin Young he is very productive and Mike Bell isnt to shabby either but for god sake get Travis Henry out of there if he is tested positive. We dont need his pot head ways to be the reason why they say Rocky Mountain High Colorado.
Ahhh fall is in the air and its football sunday. I was sad because yet again I wasnt going to be able to watch the Broncos play. So I was stuck with a decision. Watch the Chicago beat Kansas City or clean, whats a football fan to do? Duh watch the Bears beat the Chiefs. Well the baby woke up so I changed her diaper and a friend came over to bring a baby present so I didnt see the end of the game. I go into the kitchen to start dinner and I hear a team calling heads or tails. Surely the Chiefs didnt come back to tie the game to go into over time. So I go into the den and see if they came back and then it happens.
My eyes light up like a kid in a candy store. It was the Broncos and the Raiders. Woooooooo Hoooooo. Wait thats not something to get excited about. The Raiders came back to tie the game. #### and yes those were my exact words. The Broncos win the toss thats great we can get the ball down far enough to get Jason Elam to score the wining field goal. Wrong. Damn it well defense can stop them to get the ball back. Close. The Raiders got the ball far down enough to make the field goal. As they line up for the kick my heart starts pounding and my stomach is in knots. They cant beat us. Janikowski kicks and its good. My jaw drops and I think a trickle of a tear started coming down and the knots got tighter in my stomach. Oh man am I gonna hear it from the Raiders fans on Fox Sports I thought to myself. How did this happen.
Oh but wait something happened that I didnt see. At the last second Mike Shanahan called a time out. Mike you genious you. The field goal didnt count. And from 52 yards I gotta say it was actually a good kick but the fact remains it didnt count. Ok Janikowski lets see if you can do it again. NOOOOO he can not do it again. He kicks it and it hits the top left side of the upright and it bounced off to the left. Ohhh if you could only see the look on the Raiders face.
I jump up and down screaming and start to breath again and say ITS NO GOOD HAHAHAHA
Ok Denver we got this. Jay Cutler with the help of Travis Henry and Brandon Stokley get the ball down the field. They made it look so easy. Here comes Jason Elam to come out to score the field goal. They line up make the snap Sauerbrun holds the ball and Jason comes to try to kick a 23 yard field goal. He kicks the ball and its going and
ITS GOOD.
Denver wins the game 23-20 in overtime Whew that was close.
Denver out played the Raiders and they still caught up and why? Because Denver couldnt get it together in the redzone and if memory serves me correctly that was 1 of the problems when we had Jake Plummer. With Denver putting up numbers the way they are if they could get it together in the redzone then my goodness Denver would be the team to beat. Even though it was a win I can still say they need to get it together, and the only reason we won this game is because Shanny called the time out just in time to get to the final result of what happened. Denver beats Oakland yet again
Today was a great day. Denver won Kansas City lost and so did the Raiders and I thought that the Bears defense could stop the Chargers enough to pull out a win beating the chargers but I was wrong. While statisticly speaking Denver had a great day but should have had more points but hey an ugly win is better then a pretty loss. Cutler had 304 yards today. I should have started him over Drew Brees but didnt because i forgot but oh well. Shockingly enough I dont want to talk about the Broncos today. I want to talk about the Raiders. Dont get too excited Raiders fans I am not crossing to the dark side infact even if I werent a Broncos fan I still would stay clear of the Raiders.
After watching the Eagles game they tuned in for the last few minutes of the Lions/ Raiders game. I of course wanted to see the Lions beat the Raiders lose just like any other Bronco fan. The last 2 minutes of the game Tatum Bell scored a touchdown. And good for him because as I have said I wanted the Raiders to lose and this touchdown put the Lions over the top for the win, but what came after Tatums touchdown was just classless and it reminds me why I could never be a fan even if I werent a fan of Denver. Fans started throwing stuff at Tatum right after he scored. Raiders fans are you that pissed that you cant win that you have to be classless and throw thing at players? Did you throw it at him because he is a former Bronco or is it because yet once again the Raiders cant win? Either way its still rediculous that you would do this. Should I be shocked that this happened? NO. And it because the Raiders are a dirty team with classless dirty bitter fans.
I hope the Raiders never win a game ever again and next week I hope Denver makes them look silly like they do every year.
( Lise if you read this I still love ya but Raides fans minus yourself are bad)
PS..... Bills Kevin Everett was injured in a helmet to helmet when he tackled Denver Domenik Hixon that knocked him out cold and had to leave in an ambulance as he was unconsious when he was on the field. The coach gave a update on him and he regained his consiousness but is in observation for cervical spinal injury. I hope he makes a good recovery.
After seeing all the injuries and the defense not looking so hot and all the moves that make you want to say " What the hell were you thinking" like signing very injured but recovering former Cheif John Browning and letting go Gerard Warren leaving little hope for Broncos fans everywhere Mike Shanahan does something that gives us hope. Today Denver signed DE Simeon Rice. This signing makes more sense then when Denver signed John Browning. Why sign a guy who has back problems and hasnt played a game since 05 when we could have signed Simeon Rice or Michael Strahan before he resigned his contract and ended his hold out with the Giants. But I got what I wanted because Rice is now apart of the team which makes me excited. Not only does this make me excited but it makes John #### excited as well. John played with him when he was a Buccaneer. Simeon Rice has 121 career sacks and is one of the best pass rushers in the game now.
ESPN has reported that the Broncos have finally traded DT Gerard Warren to the Oakland Raiders. THis has been something that the Broncos have been trying to do for weeks because apparently there is no room for him on our newly beefed up defense because he lacks size. Yes just his size. Since 2001 he has had 340 tackles 22 sacks 6 forced fumbles 4 fumble recoveries and 15 pass deflections. With the torn achilles tendon that DE Ebenezer Ekuban endured during the game on saturday against the Cowgirls that left him out for the season I think why in the world would they send him away? To stay on the team he even took a huge paycut to free up salary cap money. I personally think that Denver was stupid for letting him go. As much as i hate to say it with the Raiders adding him they are going to have a good defense. This is how I still feel about them.
Per Mean D's request here are a couple pics of the newest Raider Hater
Being that I dont live in Colorado anymore I read the news online all the time. Gotta keep up with what hapPens at home. We have seen time and time again where people get out of hand because they got drunk at a sporting event which led to fighting. Pat Bowlen sent a letter to season ticket holders to tell them that we shouldbe more courteous during a football game. He still wants us to have fun and get loud because thats what Denver fans are known for, making noise at the stadium. I mean jeez when they built the new one they had to build it so when we stomped our feet it didnt shake the foundation 3 blocks away and made it more sound proof because yes we Denver fans like to make noise.
Well Pat went on to say he wants us to use appropriate language which is understandable dont want little Timmys ears to fall off when he hears a bad word but also at the same time when you watch a good game and get caught up in the moment and a ref makes a bad call 9 times out of ten the words WHAT THE ####* usually start flying out of mouths. HE wants us to settle arguements like mature people which this to is understandable but this next one is a doozy. He wants us to stay sober and in control. How in the hell do you stay sober at a football game? If he wants us to stay sober then does that mean that there will be no more beers sold at games? This letter he sent out is also being sent out by other teams. Now I am going home in December and my grandparents gave me tickets to the last game of the season because they have season tickets and they wont be in Denver for the last game so I am going to take my hubby to his first pro game. we are going to see the Broncos come at the Vikings like some spider ####. We will stand there in -30 degree weather with snow to our elbows and drink that nice crisp icecold refreshing $8 BEER. And after we drink that one we will most likely drink another because thats what you do. You go to a game you drink $8 beers and when your team scores a touch down and scores the extra point you throw your hands up beer and all to scream ITS GOOD and just hope none of your beer comes out of the cup. I have been to many games and I have never seen a fight at the stadium. Not even when we tailgate and have a few cold ones before going in to watch the game. Maybe he is saying this as a caution but to stay sober is silly. ( I am not saying that I will be SHI# faced or sloppy drunk but I will have a good buzz going) Beer and football go together Like wings and hooters ( Gotta love some wings from Hooters). You cant have one without the other. Please DONT TAKE MY BEER.
My name is baby Emily and I am a new Broncos fan. My mommy has givin me my first history lesson. You have been to the Super bowl every 10 years since 1977. The year in now 2007 so its you year. I just have some concerns. You guys have had way to many injuries this week. I know Rod Smith was already on the sidelines with Brandon Marshall and Tony Shefler, but my defensive players you didnt have to add Marcus Thomas, Teyo Johnson, Chad Mustard, Marquay McDaniel, Glen Martinez, Brandon Stokley, Paul Smith, Ben Hamilton, Warick Holdman ( I hope he has his feeling back), Travis Henry and Jarvis Moss. Thats just to start. In order to make it through the season to get to the Super Bowl you have to have a team and you cant do that when your team is on the sidelines. Now I know Most will be fine when it comes time to play next week but this is out of control. My mom has a blue and orange cloud above her head getting exctied because she gets to watch you play next monday, and I get to watch my first Broncos game, but can we lighten up on the injuries because if everyone has to sit on the sidelines because they are hurt then my mommy is going to be upset because you guys wont play and she is driving me crazy waiting for the game. I know Mike said " Hit the guy your wearing pads" but I dont think he meant kill them. Take it out on the other team and not your own please.
I know you and dad are going to show me some cool things through out my life but I have a few questions to ask.
1. What is that blue and orange thing above your head?
2.What are these football withdrawls that you and dad talk about?
3. Who is this ghost of Elway I heard about?
4. Why does my brother have cool Bronco stuff and i dont?
5. I know you and dad will teach me right from wrong and things I can and cant say but can I say the Raiders SUCK?
Those are my questions for now mommy I will ask more later.
Dear Princess of mine,
The blue and orange thing above my head is the Broncos cloud. Its telling me that football is near and in 10 days and counting we can watch them play some football. The ghost of Elway is the ghost who liners around the football stadium. He was one of the best QB's of all time and he retired after the Broncos won back to back Super Bowls. Ever since then every QB that comes in is compared to Elway but they can never be like him. Football withdrawls are when the team is in an offseason and the only sport thats on is baseball. When all the teams start going to camp its reported on ESPN and we get excited because football season is right around the corner. Football starts in Aug. The games in Aug are called preseason. This is when the teams play to see who is good enough to make the team and to see how things are looking. These games dont count but hey football is football. Then after that you have the regular season and those games count and you want your team to do go to make the Super Bowl. After that is the Pro Bowl and after that game football is gone as we know it until preseason starts again. Your brother has cool Broncos gear because he can fit into it. You are so tiny that everything you wear makes you look like you are swiming in it. If you would ever gain some weight then you could wear the newborn stuff. As far as your question about the Raiders all I have to say is............. THATS MY GIRL.
Here before long you can watch them play and know the team you will root for, for the rest of your life.
Denver has had a very busy off season sine free agency and after the draft I thought they were good to go. Apparently I was wrong. The Broncos have been known to be a small team size wise ( compared to other guys in the NFL). Infact they have been the smallest team in the leauge for years. Maybe thats what our problem is. We cant get to the big game because we are too little. Well all thats about to change because Mike Shanahan is liking them with some meat on their bones. Dont get me wrong our guys got some meat. Its all nice lean muscle for the most part but I am starting to think that Mike is taking football back to the good old days when a team actually went for the bigger guys. First we just sign Sam Adams DT From Cincinatti. Oh hell I wonder how long his wrap sheet is. His name makes me want to drink a beer. Hes a whopping 345 pounds. Hes so much bigger then me I would just hand him the ball and say here you go. Then we just sign DT Jimmy Kennedy who is a mere whopping 325 pounds. Guys that big would scare me. Now I thought all the moves Denver made in the off season have been great and the draft well I got all the positions I needed in the draft and we continue to get 300 plus pound men. Now on or team there are 11 300 plus pound men for defense. If we cant make a statement with our defense now we are never gonna make a statement. Our defense started off like monsters last year making stops and taking the football and that was with little guys. If Denver can work the same scheme with the big boys then I feel bad for the teams who have small offensive lines.
I have recently caught up with sports news and I am aware of the situation with David Kirkus. Wrong place at the wrong time and he hits a man and sends him to the hospital. I am all for proving that if someone didnt do something then they didnt do it, and I am glad that you said you would have let him go if he was in the wrong. We dont need the commissioner down your back after all you dont want a team like the Bengals, but going to the feds for a lie detector test? Dont you think thats a little much? I am glad he passed the test and he can stay on the team but I think you went to far. I love you as a coach and I have nothing but respect for you but get things under control and keep things like this quiet please. We are starting to look like a circus. Between Kirkus and Marshall and everything else that has been happening do what you do best and get these guys back in line.
I am 22 and I am a huge Broncos and Avalanche fan cant say the Rockies suck anymore and I never got into basketball. I should probably go and change my favorites seems how some of the people where here when I first started blogging in 2005 and they are not here anymore but I just choose not to right now.
