It's really to bad that there isn't another series that the guys could leave Nascar for. I would be so pissed, and to say the least, embarrassed to be a part of todays Nascar..To have the sanctioning body feel so in control of every aspect of the teams everyday actions is ludicris. If the public or the networks have a problem with a four letter word, let them deal with it, not Nascar. If a driver for some reason declines the invitation to attend a press conference, so be it. I think we still have freedom of speech, or lack of, don't we? Good God Gertie, those are adults racing out there, lets quit treating them like someones children.
IndyCar could use a few good drivers (and, more importantly, a few well-heeled sponsors). They're not nearly so dictatorial as they've been thoroughly Ecclestoned and are born again, driver/advertiser/owner friendly maniacs.
I hear ya, I hear ya! But the truth is, when you get licensed by NASCAR, you buy into the priviledge of competing on their circuit, their sanctioned tracks; Their way. You will: be here at a certain time. You will: be available at this juncture, and so on. It is their game, you will play it their way.
I thought for a year or so ago, that Smoke would find his way back to open wheel because of the very stuff you mention.
I laugh to think what it would be like with A.J.(Foyt) and a microphone shoved in his face at Stewarts age, now-a-days!
You can't have drivers cursing on the air like it doesn't matter, because the FCC would fine the network and the network would pay less to televise the sport. Not to mention, parents deciding they don't want their kids watching because of that sort of thing.
The Dale Junior-curse controversy was the during the fall right after the Janet Jackson Super Bowl #### show, so they HAD to come down had on Junior because of it. (Remember, that was when EVERY LIVE EVENT was being show on a 7-second delay due to everyone freaking out about curse words.) Tony's penalty is just in the name of consistency.

I agree with you Bob.Brian France is dragging down Nascar as we speak.Freedom of speech is part of what this country was built on.Smoke said something that most parents would say if they were excited.
Another thing,Jim Hunter a Nascar offical said he wanted the drivers to speeak english. So why is it now being telecast in foriegh languages?I understood Tony just fine and I am not upset.
If only Nascar listened to the fans.It would be great.I guess I am dreaming.
I have written before,Tony Kevin JR and others have enough money to start a new body. The threat of this should be enough to wake up Brian.
Hopefully we can get back to some good old home grown racing while we can still pernounce the drivers names. The outsiders have allready ruined the other sports. There are not any hoMe town teams any more.Alot of the players come from out side of the country.Who wants to watch Jose Taco play ball or race.I want to see Joe Blow from next door or across the street.Bring all of our sports home.

ccr1d3r, so true, there are children watching, children that have parents who can explain why the man said a bad word, or a parent who has a mute button.I had small children once too,
angevin... It would be so much fun to see these mamby pamby fans exposed to "Super Tex" after some kid had crashed him,Oh yeah, and the kid would have only done it one time, thats for sure.
