Are we getting stuck in a rut? Same old tracks, same old weekends, same old drivers, same old venues to talk about..Just imagine if we had two divisions, leagues, conferences, call them what you want, that competed against each other in Nascar. Maybe  North and South, or East and West, who knows.. Sure they would run on different tracks, but baseball plays in different size parks, football plays in different weather, indoors and out..Meet a couple of times a year, send your best 10 teams..Who knows. Just food for thought. Maybe more people would think about investing in tracks if they knew they would get the races.. Bring back the 1 mile tracks, Maybe a West Coast Bristol type track. Road course in Florida, use the Daytona road course maybe..This would not only cut down on the expenses for the teams, but also fans would find it more entertaining and available by not having to travel clear across the country.Moving on...... How about a Nascar policy that if they find an infraction that the car is sent back to the garage to be fixed and then reinspected? I know this is a change in my recent ramblings but why not? Nascar would need to increase the inspection people to get everyone done in time, but oh well, they have the money. Then if there was an honest mistake, like Dale Jr's brackets on the COT spoiler, they don't go crazy. There are things called mistakes, or accidents.. First lap accident, go to back up car if available..Red Flag, get the race ready back up car out, finish the race starting from the rear.People came to see race of their best drivers, not watch the leader sit in the pits or garage for an hour only to come out in a piece of #### to run for 3 points. Mandate BIGGER pit roads and pit stalls before we kill some poor tire changer. If your track can't accommodate a larger pit system, then the number of cars in the field will be decreased to fit the existing facilities.AND....Let's quit screwing with the fuel cell issue, I want to see a race decided by the drivers skill, not by a propeller head with a calculator. While I'm on a roll, LEADERS in the front, lapped traffic in the back, no lucky dog, Side by side restarts, just like the starts. yellow flag, go back to the last lap run under green, start as they crossed the line on that lap.Yellow flag in the last 10 laps, freeze the field, freeze the laps, 8 laps to go and yellow comes out, 8 laps to run when all cleaned up and the green falls. The sport is called "Racing" not "Chess"..Everyone have a good 4th of July, be safe, and remember those who gave their lives so we can enjoy this freedom to write and say what we believe..If I pissed you off, sorry, If I got you to think a little, good. The sport needs fans who care, or we'll all end up watching bowling.. Be Cool...BOBDOT

Bob, can you believe the fabulous Monster Mile at Dover Downs has only 42 pit stalls? I cannot believe they don't paint out the old lines, take a few inches from each and make one more stall. Agree with most everything else you said; would like to see 50 cars racing at the larger tracks!

Bobdot you sure gave us alot to think about today.

I like your idea of bigger pit stalls and pit roads. The pit crews have enough to worry about without having to worry about getting runover by a competitor.

Different venues would be nice. Maybe rotate tracks each year. One year they race at say Vegas, next year they race at say Memphis. Not sure I like the idea of west coast and east coast teams, but hey, at this point, I would be willing to at least see how it worked. Let's face it what we have now is becoming very boring. I really find myself watching less and less of NASCAR the last couple of months. Maybe that can be attributed to the Gibbs organization not winning. I actually missed Denny winning on Sunday.

I love the idea of more 1 mile or less tracks and more road courses in the series. Maybe that would ####e things up.

Do not like the chance to bring out a backup car in a first lap wreck. Remember the All Star a couple years ago. NASCAR allowed that and Jeff Gordon came from the back and won. Don't like that possibility. hahaha

I do agree that NASCAR needs to put down in writing if you get this infraction this is the penalty. And show to the teams and fans before the beginning of the season. No more etch-a-sketch NASCAR.

I agree throw that green white checkered policy out the window. Freeze the field with 10 to go and do not count yellow laps. This makes more sense than the green white checkered.

Bob:

What you have put down here makes a lot of sense. Certainly some great ideas..

I would think if they split the series up to a East / West conference, there might be room for more and varied tracks.. As Nascar grows this might be an alternative with the best say 20 drivers competing for the championship at say ten tracks... Not a bad idea..

Rule infractions: It certainly seems that NASCAR is penalizing the teams for the slightest drop of the hat. Some of the infractions may well be out of the control of the teams lke dropped springs after a race or time trial.Honest mistakes like bolts etc. Still the habitual offenders need the harsh penalties.
You can remember the old days the teams would run extra gas lnes through the roll cage for more gas mileage and the penalties were not as severe.

On pre race inspections, the officials ahould send them back to correct. I agree if they are not habitual offenders like say you know who..

Don't know about the wrecked driver getting another car to run.. Certainly a questionable call..

Fuel cells are determined by the safety concerns but if they set a size lets make it a 20 gallon size.. Those things aren't supposed to leak whe impacted but maybe the technology is not what it should be yet..

Certainly a yes on the bigger pit stalls and roads. However this might eliminate some tracks but they probably need to be dropped any how. Hard to imagine a 43 car field when the cars in positions 35 to 43 are alread nearly a lap down.

Lapped traffic in the back, no luckt dogs. Excellent idea. Those cars usually are the ones that do create issues during the race any how.It is extreemly rare to see a lucky dog or lapped car pull away from the leaders and catch back up.

One of the best reads I have seen in a while..

Happy 4th of July to you Bob.

Your a spastic blogger. You do know that don't you? Paragraphs would help you too a lot my man.

I like the conference idea. NASCAR has something like this at the lower levels. Maybe they need to end the truck series allowing many of those drivers to run the Busch Series. Then maybe they should focus more on a league to help the lower level guys. Neat idea.

The tracks are going to change ever so slightly each year as NASCAR maximizes its investments in its tracks and what it can get from the other venues to sanction a race at their tracks. That's all there is to that.

Requiring improvements at tracks is one thing NASCAR uses when deciding which tracks they do not own get races and get to keep races. Been there, done that, got the T-Shirt I bought at the track with my money after getting the free tickets.

Yes they do need to leave the fuel cell alone. I like where it is now. They run out of gas at about the same time they run out of rubber. That works for me.

Eliminate side by side restarts and make all restarts single file. If you lose a lap tough #### Let's see the leaders race without all of the garbage in their way.

If I pissed you off, GET OVER IT DAMN IT!

Cheers! LOL

Ts,

I saw my number 5 dude Denny win! Woo-hoo!

NASCAR can't write down the infraction. They have no way to anticipate the grey area a crew chief will choose to wander into.

14Falcons NASCAR has been around long enough that they have a good idea of what areas a masterful crew chief would manipulate. After all they do have one of the best at manipulating a car already on their payroll Robin Pemberton.

So they could put down in writing, what the infraction would be. Example: Manipulation of front fender 100 pts. $100,000, 6 weeks of suspension of both crew chief and driver. Manipulation of wing brackers: 100 pts. $100,000. Manipulation of placement of front windshield 150 pts $150,000. Get the idea? It is not the hard.

Tsfan, money and loss of crew chiefs is not a deterrent. These guys have plenty of money, and crew chiefs are still active in the prep and setup of the cars. Want to put some bite in the rules infractions, park them.Let those owners explain to their sponsors why their cars aren't on T.V. during the biggest race of the year.Let them explain that they got caught cheating so Tide won't see their car on T.V but will get to read about them cheating in the sports pages.. Won't take long..

bobdot I agree that money and points would not fix everything. But for each infaction there would be degrees of punishment. What I meanted above would be like the 1st time. 2nd time the team goes home. 3rd time the team is suspended for the rest of the year. That certainly would catch the attention of car owners in a hurry. Because when the sponsor starts demanding money back on their investment, car owners would crack down on these gray area crew chiefs.

14Falcons, I agree that you cannot anticipate every thing. But if you put it simple ANY MANIPULATION OF A PART that covers any and everything.

bob,

Some of us are getting critical with the newbies writing skills.

I think a number of us oldbies have room to improve also.
