Wow, wasn't that fun seeing who could be out front when Sissycar flew the red flag. There should be a giant asterisk beside whoever wins he cup this year. Here's a neat thing to hear.. 'Well Wally looks like the boys will be coming in at least in a lap or so to switch to rain tires" Kyle we all know the crew chiefs are working the numbers, but the rain tires will average out the gas mileage from the dry periods. Lets see who will pit first to take them off when these skies clear." BUT NO we hear, " Oh gee, it's sprinkling, lets run to the garage.. But wait, what about all the people who payed big bucks to see us race??" "Oh #### em.. We have their money, if they want to see real drivers let them go watch those sissy F1 drivers.." But gee can't we come up with a rain tire?" "Sure we could, but why? Cost us money, and why should we worry" These dopes just go home anyway. PEOPLE WE ARE GETTING SCREWED, WITHOUT A KISS.. "Ladies and gentle men, It's 12 minutes left in the 4th quarter here at the Jets football game, the players are a little tired and it looks like rain so sorry, We're calling the game. Thanks for coming, but to bad, waste your money next week. How long do you think that would last?? Let the advertisers on these cup cars know that your not going to stand for it any longer.Hit these teams in the pocketbook and watch SISSYCAR take note..
Hi, I was at both the rained out Richmond and Darlington races; stayed to see the races on Monday morning--an inconvenience, maybe, but I don't allow them to take my money.
Hey Bob-Top o' the mornin' to ya! Good post-Why doesn't NASCAR use rain tires-excuse my ignorance-is it that simple? Money? And not wanting to spend it?
Karinka-What was the general consensus of others at the race?
What about those who could not stay? I'm just wondering what your thoughts were and what you saw in general, not trying to be harsh.
X, obviously EVERYBODY was disappointed, but you should have seen the fans leaving the Richmond grandstands before the race was even called! NASCAR waited a long time to call that race. Would they need to "waterproof" a stock car? I know can't drive at 50mph without wipers in a downpour.
Most of the races I go to are Saturday night races, but when my Dad and I go to Martinsville or the Spring Bristol Race, I go ahead and put in for a Vacation day at work. I agree with karinka, They ain't getting my money either!
Interesting subject about rain tires. I can remember racing back in the dark ages with a Bug eyed sprite in the rain with street tires and no wipers. Just a towel to wipe my goggles. Certainly made the racing interesting. This was at the old Corry field Navy base in Pensacola that hosted sports car races from production classes to the old Can Am cars that Penske, Hall, and Revson ran.
Considering the oncomming climate changes we are beginning to experience, Some areas may well have to have rain tires in order to get in a race with in a reasonable time frame.. .
8929..come on sister, the pic, gots to go..Bless us with beauty.. Sure it's great to be able to use that extra day but hard on the nut and bolt guy just getting by, know what I mean??
