Junior
May 16, 2007 | 7:44AM | report this
Well I guess that Nascar figured out a way to knock the Junior story off the headlines. Just replace it with another one.. Summer has hit here in California so the short tracks are warming up. Good Saturday night racing. Yes there is a life outside of Nascar Sundays.....All Star race?? How about popularity race. Not how good you are, it's now what kind of fan base you have and who takes the time to court the fans even more. Kind of reminds you of the trumped up "All Star"  games in baseball. Take the winners and let them race, not who gets the most votes cause "He's cute"...Lets see Tony and Junior team up next year, that would be a season to remember.. {Right TSFan ?}..Gee if we had rain tires like all the other racing groups we would have raced on the other night...Don't start about power, racing, all that ####, F1 does it, they seem to have a few races in the rain that adds some suspense to the race and some crew chief decisions to be made...COT..Hey we got the handle on it, lets go COT for the rest of the season, quit trying to reinvent the wheel. {Falcon? Jump in here, don't be bashful}. MMMMMM  You sit in the car till the commercial is over, then throw PEPSI, of all things, over a bunch of men, Then get your ball cap on, then stand on the window sill, then jump down and WOW it's the T.V. guy.. Do they take a class on this or what????  BORING..  How about jump out and meet Miss "Boobs -A-Lot ".. {Sorry TS} but sometimes a guys got to say a guy thing...Well everyone have a good weekend.. Be cool... BOBDOT..OUT

The reason Nascar does not use rain tires on ovals is because the weight of the cars. They are about 21/2 times as heavy and would slam the out side wall if run in the rain. They have been used in low speed road courses on a limited basis.Plus they dont use traction control.

And all those things could be addressed and worked in to the system..

Nascar always seems to be wanting to "make an example" out of someone... and it always seems to be Junior that is hit the hardest! The whole "*hit" thing a couple years ago that, in my opinion, lost the championship for Jr. This whole taking points away is very sickening, too. I'm over it and over NASCAR. They need to find a new driver to "make an example" out of!

On Jr.: Damned if they do damned if they don't. If they do it's not fair. If they don't it's favoritism. Look people, they warned everyone penalties would get stiffer. In case Tony Eurey Jr. doubted them, he need not no longer.

If your in the midwest you might want to check out the NASCAR Grand National Busch East-West Clash at Iowa Speedway on Sunday. Kevin Harvick is entered.

My take on Jr, they use him as an example. Yeah, he cheated, fine him that's fair, but 100 points, come on.

Not sure how true this is. I heard it on the radio this morning, Rock 92 here NC. They said the only reason Jr can still race in the All Star this weekend, is because he made an appeal to the fine. NASCAR can say that all they want, but, seriously, if NASCAR did not allow JR in the All Star Saturday, how many people would not show up at the race?? :o) Just a thought!!!

Cozygirl-Sorry, didn't read your response until after I made my comment! oopppsss, but glad to see someone has the same thought as I do!!

Bobdot, NASCAR had to get the headlines back. They can't let the fans favorite driver steal their limelight. They have to be #1.

By the way, I don't know if you have heard, but it seems that AT&T WILL be allowed to run their logo on the 31 Cingular Car starting this weekend. In his ruling, Judge Shoob said, "The court concludes that the continued appearance of the Cingular brand on the No. 31 car, unaccompanied by any indication that Cingular now does business as AT&T, is likely to confuse NASCAR fans.''

Guess even the Judge knows that NASCAR likes to try and confuse the NASCAR fans.

As far as the penalty for the 8 team, I have no problem with it. Because all the teams were warned before the COT ever took to the track, you miss with the certified parts and there would be a stiff penalty. Eury tested the waters and it bit them in the butt big time.

I agree that the All Star race should be only for the guys who have at least won a Cup race. But I really don't have a problem with the fans voting in a favorite. I think it gives the fans a chance to at least have a voice in NASCAR, since NASCAR doesn't want to hear from us any other time. At least for one day a year, NASCAR has to listen to the fans. hahaha

You know I would love to see Tony and Dale Jr. team up next year and the rest of their careers. I think it would be a great fit for Gibbs racing. Gibbs needs three teams that could be a reckoning force in NASCAR.

Well it would not hurt to have a good looking gal on the stand to kiss the race winner like in the old days. I can recall a Linda Vaughn in drag racing circles back in the 60's and 70's that had a lot of guys drooling. Wonder if she would make a come back?? HA HA HA HA ...

Yep. I am all for racing in the rain. Would be neat to see it..

On Jr. HA HA HA HA .. He knows that was a set up from DEI getting pissed off about him leaving..
