There is Pro Football in L.A.
Jan 25, 2007 | 7:37AM | report this

USC fans get ready to take down some banners.  Pete Carroll you might want to call the Cowboys and see if they are still looking for a coach.  I know they just hired Jason Garrett but they haven't given him the head gig yet, just the offense so far.  That must be nice having Jerry Jones dangle that over him.  It must feel like Jones is saying You may have the job Jason if I can't find anyone better!

According to a Yahoo.com story there are  taped conversations that could confirm Bush took cash and gifts while he was playing football for USC.

Its all about the cash and special "rent" his parents were paying and gifts recieved by the Bush family.  The money is said to be near $280,000.  That is a lot of  cheese for a college student.  That is pro football if you ask me. If they come out and say he was rollin and Benz around campus too, I wouldn't be surprised.  That would just be way to much for me.  I went through all this with the Fab Five and Michigan had to take down banners of achievements, remove all records, and remove scholarships.  Look what it has done to Michigan basketball since.  Although the alternative is Ohio State and all the issues they had with Maurice Clarrett.  Maybe since it is football USC can survive this.

Here is the consequences from the NCAA according to Yahoo.com- If the NCAA rules that Bush received extra benefits during his playing career at USC, he could be ruled retroactively ineligible. Since some of the benefits date to the 2004 season, the Trojans' national championship that season could be rescinded. USC could face further NCAA sanctions and Bush's 2005 Heisman Trophy could be in jeopardy. The Heisman ballot indicates that an athlete must meet NCAA eligibility requirements to be considered for college football's most prestigious award.

Doesn’t Reggie have enough to pay off the Judge or Prosecuting Attorney? That’s how the legal system works right?
Famous people and athletes don’t usually have to deal with things like this. Michael Vick could have been carrying a bottle of weed and a shotgun and it would get dropped.

Has Reggie just not reached that status yet?

too bad the his crime spree does not go back to 2003, i am sure LSU would be howling now, more money well spent from LA. if he does lose his Heisman, i am sure he can still pick OJ's from EBAY.

Bears defense could be mocking him and doing the end zone dance.

I don't condone all the benefits that college players receive. But this is somewhat of a witch hunt. It happens all over the country, this just happens to be a high-profile player...that somehow there must be evidence. But if they have taken this long to decide, I'm guessing that the details aren't exactly concrete.

"Retroactively ineligible"? I'm sure that if the same resources were spent investigating every other major program, that this could happen to many schools.

Funny little set of circumstances. None of these players will get punished at the time, and sacrifice their multi-million dollar careers. Why would an athlete turn down cash & benefits when there are no consequences?

The sad thing is he KNEW the whole time what he was doing was agianst the rulz. He is flat out looked at all his teamates, coaches, and the national fan base and LIED... You had to see this coming after USC told him to stay away from the rose bowl and its team.....Sorry Reggie but I'm afraid Karma is about to take a bite out of your success. I bet it cost more than 280,000 to get out of this mess.

I bet coach Carroll knew too. How could he not

Shooter, it never actually hurts the players that did it, it is the players that are there now that had nothing to do with it. The USC fans will feel it to possibly. Who knows, they may not ewven take a step back.

Another good argument for the just pay the college players to play and this won't be a problem argument.
