This Sunday is the proposed Lions fan walk out at Ford Field when the Lions play against the Chicago Bears in a completly uneventful and meaningless game. The Bears won the NFC North and have clinched home field through out the playoffs. Mean while the Lions are battling Oakland for the number one pick in the 2007 draft.
According to firemillen.com -This protest calls for the fans of the Detroit Lions to "walk-out" of the Christmas Eve game with eight minutes and fifty seven seconds remaining in the second quarter. Everyone should meet in the main atrium by "The Roar and More" and with three minutes and fifty seven seconds remaining, everyone that is there start chanting in unison our rallying cry, "Fire Millen!" Then at halftime, everyone involved, orderly and politely walk out of the stadium to show Team Owner and Chairman William Clay Ford their disgust with his inaction. This action is directed at the management of the team and not the players on the field which I will continue to support.-
Although I am happy that Detroit's fans are still very passionate about our Lions here and that this has been getting national attention. I feel that they are going about this the wrong way. Lions fan unite! I hope more fans will take my protest stance of "DONT WALK IN!" I have stuck by this and even turned down tickets many times now. I don't care that they still have a really new and very cool stadium. I don't go to see the stadium or another visiting team just for the fact that it is NFL football, I go to see my team win. Until they show they even want to try to participate in anything other that the NFL Draft, I am not walking in!
bob-cannot agree more with you. Until Millen is gone I will not buy tickets to any game. But you hit every point worth making in this short gem of an article. Not walking in is the best course of action.
A lot of the Lions' fans at present would probably rather watch paint dry than watching the team try and progress through its travails !
They've endured a lot but are no closer to being a winning and successful franchise than we are to solving the world's hunger crisis on the continent of Africa and beyond ! It's a shame really when you've got to choose between one or the other ! As it's important to the Lions' fans one hand but to the general public it's no longer a facade that we can laugh at and ignore ! The Lions' predicament that it is ! One would never joke about a subject so sensitive it is so inappropriate to be neglecting the superior but ineffective franchsie now that'd rather labor under the usual position. Have they got a new quarterback yet ? It's something that enquiring minds need to know if we're to coexist with the rest of the menagerie !
the walk out is the dumbest idea. here you have a state and city that dominates just about ever sport, baseball the tigers, basketball, the piston, hockey the redwings, and college the wolverines. quit crying
The thing that amazes me the most is that Millen actually WANTS to keep this job. He has proven that his incompetence is overwhelming, yet he hangs on. He is taking advantage of the fact that WC Ford Sr. is a very VERY loyal person. By firing Millen, he ceases to be loyal...but more importantly...he proves that he was WRONG in hiring Millen in the first place.
The secondary problem is that WC Ford can SAY that he cares all he wants. But just take a look and you can see...He doesn't care.
Please tell me that Millen has inappropriate pictures of Bill Ford in some sort of sexual act either with a minor or an animal !
It has to be something of that nature in order for him to have kept his job for this long ! And there not be any implications to preclude to him being fired !
God knows if that were the case the tabloids would already be running with this story !
Millen has been given a chance to run the Lions and he has run them in the ground. Let's get someone who will build the team from the ground up because that is where they will have to start unfortunately.

redwing - I dont know if any one could do a worse job. This horrible run they are on is only topped by the Buccaneers run of 11 straight 10 loss seasons
flyingpig- it would be hard to show your face at work everyday when everyone knows the whole place is burning to the ground because you didnt know how to prevent a fire. (if you know what I mean)
If WCF loves the team and the fans so much, how could he be putting us through this at such a monumental volume?
Moemillion- I see your point but there are a lot of Lions fans who only watch the Lions and that is it. one playoff win since 1957 is unacceptable in any sport anywhere.

Good for you, bob! The consumer voice obviously has a say, unfortunately maybe the only one heard.
I haven't been to a game lately either, though I'll admit that if circumstances were different I would probably be an attendee... I lack a spine. Actually, I have too much empathy for the players. I worried about the Millen March last year, but thankfully it turned out fine, so in the end I thought it was a good protest.
What I think is most important about your stance is that you wrote about it... just not going isn't good enough. You have to vocalize why.
I will admit though millen does suck, I thought the arizona Cardinals were bad at least they do have enough talent to make a run. The lions have been rebuilding since the legend barry called it quits. If millen even had alittle brain he would have knew in the NFC north all u need is defense.

bob260505 .....The Lions can be lumped together with the Raiders.
Two once great franchises who no longer play with any pride and self esteem but are just prepared to go out there not for the sake of the fans !
But solely for the sake of the money and all it brings !
One has got to wonder what would happen if the teams like the Lions, Raiders and Browns were only rewarded if they won ? Would they still go out there and play competitively ?
Or be just the same moribund franchises as we've all thought that they are, all along ? That's a real thought to consider isn't it ?
Nothing has been said and I doubt that anyone cares apart from their most devoted fans !
bob260505 ..... To you and your immediate the family Merry Christmas and a Prosperous New Year !
That being said it's hoped that there'll be better things in store for the Lions in the 07/08 season !
As the 06/07 season has bought them very little to cheer about !
