GaRoynteed he doesn't know how stupid he is!
Sep 18, 2006 | 11:30AM | report this
Roy Williams is the worst offender of the all talk and no walk since Kellen Winslow jr.  Last week as you know guaranteed victory at Chicago.  Roy also has not done anything in his career to warrant such a guarantee either.  Just like Kellen he needs to just SHUT UP!  Kellen last week said cornerback Leigh Bodden is the best corner in all of football and he was gonna shut down Chad Johnson.

Roy on Sunday did the biggest thing I hate to see as well.  With my Detroit Lions down 24-0 he thought it was still appropriate to signal first down with his signature first down move.   You can see it here.  Notice the score on there as well.

If Winslow and Williams didn't so many stupid things so often they wouldn't even be getting interviewed because they rarely do anything on the field.  Maybe they think they are gonna get their team fired up.  That isn't the case though.  They get the other teams fired up and they embarrass their own fans.

How about this, show some class and let your playing do the talking.  Establish yourself as a player and not a jack ####.  At least when Terrell Owens says something he can back it up, and he has over ten years of film to prove it.  That is probably the first and last time you will ever read someone saying to be more like T.O. but hey at least he has proven he is a great player.  Kellen has proven to be a good player in all 4 games of his NFL career and Roy, well he made a sweet catch once last year!

Well, Roy Williams is as dilusional as all other Lions fans who were convinced that this team was good, maybe Martz' offense takes time or maybe it only works with a guy like Faulk and speed and precise route running like Bruce or Holt, and maybe a better offensive line. If Martz continues to refuse to protect and sign and play washed up recievers, this is what I expect to see from the Lions.

I picked them to started 0-2 and finish at 8-8. But the worst part about Lions fans is they will continue to sell out Ford Field, even this week with an epic Packers Lions game!

I've never really understood the whole first down celebration, at any time. Put some points on the board...then fine, celebrate like an #### if you want. But every single first down? And to do that when your team is out of the game, well that's just stupid. Especially for someone that guaranteed victory.

It's sad when anyone in the league needs to be "a little more like TO".

It seems that recievers are the biggest idiots in football. That is why the best reciever in my mind is Marvin Harrison, even though he is older, he is a great talent, and he never runs his mouth like a ####.

Celebrating a first down at any point of the game is just poor sportsmanship, and when your team is getting thumped it makes you even more of a looser.
And those guys wonder why people try to take their heads off when they go accross the middle.

Did you see the piece on 60min last night with Romonowski? It was a RR, he and Ed Bradley were watching tapes of his "Greatest Hits" that psyco almost got teary eyed when they watched the hit on Kery Collins that broke his jaw. Romo said it was "the best hit of his carrear, a perfect hit"

Roy has done that stupid first down thing since he got here. Lions g=fans loved when Barry would just give the ball to the ref after a score.

What is wrong with acting like you have been there before. Those who do get respect

NFL- here in Detroit we know all about WR idiots. Marvin Harrison is a well respected class act. I wish more would play and display more like him

Miracle what you call psycho I call magnificent. Bill Romanowski, albeit he played for the 9ers who I hate dearly, was and is one of my favorite players of all time. He was an old school gladiator on the field. Great LB. Spit in peoples face just downright dirty player and I loved every minute of it.

I wish professional coaches had the same outlook as our HS coaches had. I played receiver and if you did anything stupid like show boating then that would be your last play until you could show some maturity on the field. But if you made a nasty crack back block on an unsuspecting defender then a little excitement was allowed.

Actually bob, Roy hasn't been a bad player-

RECEIVING
Year Team G GS REC YDS AVG LNG TD
2004 Lions 14 12 54 817 15.1 46 8
2005 Lions 13 12 45 687 15.3 51 8

Just he loudmouths and messes around, and celebrates over nothing, keep your mouth shut, and play the game.

bob......With Roy the elevator doesn't rise all the way to the top floor or penthouse suite. Otherwise he'd realize you've got to put up before you can shut them up. And that's something neither he or his team has done in a very long time.

he is just another player that has potential. Potential is a term used when someone hasnt done anything.

all NFL players start with potential or else they wouldnt be in the league. Show some class and keep your mouth shut and EARN respect. Not a hard concept

Sofa I didn’t mean to imply that Psycho was a bad thing. Every good linebacker worth his weight is a little Psycho, one of my favorite linbackers Jack Lambert is a prime example. Joey Porter borders on that, I think he’s a bit too much of a loud mouth. If he works at it he will achieve that goal.

I have to agree with the guys who say you should act like you've been there. I see guys, every week and everywhere, who celebrate the stupidest things. I saw a guy celebrate the first tackle of the game. I don't remember who it was. He made a tackle, got up, and started going nuts. All I could think was, that must be the first tackle this guy's ever made. The only time to celebrate is when you score. Even then, like they said, try to act like you've been there before and don't completely lose your mind when you get there.

psycho linebackers are very common ands they have to play on the edge. the problem comes in when they take it over the edge, and sometimes break teamates jaws in practice

bob g ..... Until Pinky and the Brain get the team on the same page we'll be witnessing more of the same for the foreseeable future. That's my analogy for Marinelli & Martz as they're experimenting with putting the Lions back on the map.

whenever new coaches come in they have to evaluate what they have and they need to adjust. Only 13% of teams make the playoffs after starting 0-2. Next year they will start to make a run, which isnt what Lions fans want to hear because we have been waiting since 1957

are you saying that our very own Roy-SHEED Williams is a dumb ####? I would have to agree with you. And what's up with his punk attitude lately? I used to have great hopes for him but now I'm just fed up.

bob g .... Don't worry about it and remember until '04 Red Sox fans had waited almost 86 years for the dubious distinction of calling themselves champions once again. Not that I'm saying it'll be that long amongst the Lions' fans in terms of waiting but you never know.

Flying Pig ...... You're right I'm saying he's a complete and utter ####. If only he'd put up instead of prognosticating about his team's assurance of winning then he'd have something to talk about. But until then it's best for him to get the job done by playing football if nothing else.

I was never a big sack dance kind of guy but I am not as disgusted with players celebrating , come on. They get critiqued enough, the problem with roy was that they were down so big and a first down is nothing compared to a touchdown which still would have been nothing since they were down 24- 0, I know the Bears players gave him hell for that. Or just tried to show him the scoreboard!

bob g ... I'm now convinced that other than the Packers and Raiders the Titans are one of the worst run franchises in the NFL. I've just heard that they've decided to trade Voleck to the Chargers for an undisclosed draft pick in '07, possibly a third rounder.

If they're under the assumption that Collins is the way to go, then they're sadly mistaken as it further reduces the team's chances to do anything positive. Unless it's their intention to start Young right away and let him go through his own baptism of fire.

From what I can tell this year so far seems to signify that the mediocre teams are slightly better than normal, and the bad teams this year are exceptionally worse than normal, with no clear cut power house of a team anywhere.

Now I am a Bears fan, but the super bowl talk about this team this early is a little ridiculous... They have beaten two really bad teams, with other really bad teams on their schedule they could end up only losing two games all season.

The BAD teams are really horrible- Green Bay, Oakland, Houston, Detroit, Tennessee, Tampa Bay, The Browns, and the Dolphins, and yes the KC Chiefs; early prediction- one if not two of these teams will not win a single game this year...

The Pretenders have yet to reveal their true colors to all of us- The Jets, The Bills, The Cowboys, The Bears; these teams have gotten seriously lucky, or have just feasted on the worst teams the earliest...

Powerhouses in serious Trouble- Paging the Carolina Panthers, your season is slipping away... Andy Reid's Brain went on sabatical for the fourth quarter of the Eagles game... Big Ben's timing seemed to be flawed Monday night- could a broken clock be right twice this season with the prospect of being 1-2 after a tussel this weekend with Cincinatti?

Underwhelming in Every Way- Seattle and Denver- two ballyhooed franchises have stumbled with teams they should have totally blown out in both of the first two weeks.

I wish it was 1967 and he tried that. Ray Nitschke or Mike Curtis would have buried him in the turf.

You know, I remember thinking during some of the post-games last year that Roy was starting to mature and sound like he was stepping up as a leader...

I'm just hoping one day he does fulfill that potential and we'll laugh at this as his brash early days.

DUDE!!! Roy Williams is a dunce cap haha i dont think he knows what team he's playing and nor do i think he's aware of how many points in all reality they have put up EVER !. But on a serious note i think he needs to step up or shut up, its Halarious media, but he's not chad johnson or ray lewis soo his stuff gets old quickly and he needs to show that his team can actually win.
