Ok so it happened again. Someone in pro sports was busted in a rather embarrasing way. This time, a coach of the Lions. Remember the blog I wrote about the Minnesota Timberwolve player that got busted drunk driving while he was cranking one out?
In a story from the Detroit Free Press, Lions assistant coach Joe Cullen was busted twice in a two week period. Once for driving nude, then again for drunk driving. According to the story by Jim Schaefer and Nicholas J. Cotsonika, Cullen was fired from the University of Mississippi in early 2005 after an alcohol-related arrest at a restaurant. Athletic Director Pete Boone said Wednesday that no one from the Lions organization contacted him for a reference.
It would not have been hard to get a little background on him either. A simple google search brought up a story about him pursuing a settlement for lost salary and benefits in addition to damage to his reputation and mental anguish suffered from his dismissal from Ole Miss. Here is the story
No matter what, this is embarrassing for he and his family. Maybe this will be the final straw in his life to actually get help. Like Griffin from the T-Wolves, this must be the final straw in what appears to be the most embarrassing incident that you could have happen to you. This stuff happens all the time to regular people, and Americans are very forgiving, thankfully. But the bottom line is, regular people don't get articles written about them either.
i can see this going to court, him taking the witness stand in his own defense, and saying..."at least i wasnt watching a porno tape and spanking the #### like that basketball player guy."...then pleading to the jury and saying..."just let me get off...i mean, let me off the hook."
bob-i remember your blog on the T-Wolves player very well. And I would say that Cullen is in need of some help-and some clothes. Not that I have anything against nude driving, but how do you get pulled over for that in the first place?
By the way, I was the Pierce County whiffleball champ four straight years. I had a sinker you wouldn't believe . . .
