Bread and Circuses is The Big Bang Blog in the FBOF
Jan 29, 2007 | 11:36PM | report this

Bread and Circuses, by Dudski

Congratulations Dudski!

Please help welcome one of everyone’s favorite blogs into the FOX Blog of Fame!

Bread and Circuses, with the infamous Inverted Jenny has been the stamp of excellence in the FOX blogging community since 2005. Dudski’s post are not the measuring stick of great blogging, because Dudski’s work is in a league of it’s own. It is so very appropriate to have Dudski be the first blog ever inducted into the FOX Blog of Fame as The Big #### Blog, because that is the least we can do.

Make yourself at home, Dudski. Bread and Circuses is The Big #### Blog!

Bread and Circuses will be the first blog listed in the FBOF. To accept the Induction, please drop us an email at FOXblogoffame@hotmail.com. Although a speech is not necessary, a few words of wisdom would make a great entry. We look forward to hearing from you, and hope you continue to share the words that have made you a legend in the FOX Sports Blog Community.

Thanks to everyone that nominated and voted. Stay tuned for another FBOF nomination announcement.

Nominate the Big Bang for the Blog of Fame
Jan 17, 2007 | 10:21PM | report this

Thanks to everyone for your feedback on the FOX Blog of Fame. We have every intention to listen to your suggestions, and we can’t wait to get started.

It was our objective to make the first category of the FBOF be ‘Best Football Blog.’ But after reading through the comments we realized that most of you were already thinking big picture. It didn’t take us long to agree. What better way to start then with a ####?

With that said, we open this entry for nominations for the ‘BIG #### BLOG!’

We ask you to place nominations for the blog that has it all. Your one stop spot for total sports enlightenment. The blog that you can open any given day and know that you will never be disappointed. It will be the first blog ever inducted into the FOX Blog of Fame, the ‘Big #### Blog,’ indeed.

Rules ~ (Some of which have been changed.)

1.     In order to nominate a blog for the FBOF, you must have a blog of your own. That blog must also be at least 3 months old or have at least 20 entries published. (Sorry, but this is the only way we can regulate people from voting multiple times, or voting for themselves. Also, if you operate more then one active blog, please refrain from multiple votes.)

2.     Each person that meets the above criteria can nominate up to 3 separate blogs for each category. (We initially said that you would be able to nominate as many blogs as you want. We apologize, because that rule was already changed before publication. Everyone is limited to nominating 3 blogs for the ‘Big #### Blog,’ category)

3.     Only blogs that are nominated in the comments of this blog entry will be counted. And the deadline to nominate blogs will be 12:00AM ET, Jan 21st. (That is Midnight on Saturday night/ Sunday morning.)

4.     After the nominations have been counted, the top 5 nominated blogs will be eligible for the FBOF. The voting time period will begin the fallowing Monday morning, and continue till Friday of the same week. (Again, we had initially announced that the top ten nominated blogs would be eligible for the FBOF, but after giving it consideration, we decided that only the top 5 would make the cut. Our intentions are to make the nominations more prestigious in the process.)

How to Nominate a Blog

1.       At this point we will accept any form of nomination. You can leave the name of the author, or a link to the blog that you are nominating.

Only blogs that are nominated in the comment section of this entry will count, and each person is limited to 3 nominations for the ‘Big #### Blog.’ After the nominations have been counted we will announce the top 5 blogs to be considered for the first induction to the FOX Blog of Fame. Voting will begin next week in a separate blog entry.

This entry is for nominations only.

Good luck to you all!

Introducing the FOX Blog of Fame
Jan 07, 2007 | 8:30PM | report this

FOX Blog of Fame

Ladies and Gentlemen: We are happy to announce the official FOX Blog of Fame. (FBOF) After months of kicking around an idea, here it is. A place for you, the blogging community that has made this one of the best sports sites on the web.

The concept is simple. This is a blog about the best blogs on this site. A place that will run, and policed by you, the FOX Sports Blogger.

Overview: Every year there will be 12 blogs inducted into the FBOF. For the first three months, we will induct 3 blogs, one every month. After the first 3 months, we will induct 3 new blogs every three months. All three new blogs will be inducted all at once. (Jan= 1 blog, Feb= 1 blog, March= 1 blog, then we will induct 3 blogs in June, 3 blogs in Sept, and 3 in November.)

Then in December we will vote for the Blog of the Year, out of the Tenacious Twelve that were inducted in 2007.

The Rules: This is a gray area. Since this is a blog made for the community, we believe the rules should be made by the community as well. But with that said, here is what we have come up with so far. Please feel free to leave comments regarding any rules, or rule changes you have in mind.

Nominations: Before the voting time period starts, blogs must be nominated. You may not nominate yourself for any category. You must be nominated by someone else for the Blog of Fame. In order to nominate, or vote, you must have your own blog. Also, your blog must be at least three months old, or have at least 20 blog entries published to be eligible to vote and to nominate. Everyone that meets these standards, are eligible to nominate 3 blogs. (But everyone will only be able to vote once for the FBOF.) WHY? Well, this is just an idea. Sound off on what you think about the eligibility factors to participate.

Voting: Once the nominations have been counted. The top 5 nominated blogs in each category will be eligible for the FBOF. Once the top 5 nominations are announced, a voting period of one week will begin. To be eligible to vote, you once again need to have a blog that is over 3 months old, or at least 20 blog entries published. (Whichever comes first.) Here is the kicker. You can only vote ONCE! Each member of the blogging community is eligible to nominate as many blogs as you want, but when it comes time to vote, you can only vote once. You can only vote for one of the blogs that have been nominationed.

Once the week of voting has come to an end, the polls will be closed. And no other votes will be counted. The winner of the category will be announced, and that blog will be inducted to the FOX Blog of Fame.

Once the blog has been announced into the FBOF, that blog will not be eligible for any other category of the year. If your blog has been inducted into the FBOF, your blog will appear in the link category of this blog, and you will be eligible for the Blog of the Year award that will be voted upon in December.

Also, you will be made a member of the Board of Directors. Membership brings special privileges including being able to nominate any blog, at any time, and that blog will be eligible for voting no matter if it was not nominated by any other blogger, and did not make the top ten nominations. (A FBOF blog has the power to include an additional blog into the top ten nominated blogs for each category.) You will also be able to make changes to the process of the FBOF, vote on tie-breakers, and will be asked to help maintain this blog site.

In December of 2007, all the inducted Blogs of 2007 will be eligible for the Blog of the Year. The winner of the FBOF will be announced as not only the Blog of the Year, but also the Chairman of the Board for the next year of the FOX Blog of Fame. That means this blog will be passed onto the winner of the Blog of the Year, to do with it as they wish. To make any changes necessary, and be the Chairman of the Board of Directors. (The Tenacious Twelve)

We hope this is an idea that will turn into a tradition, and that every year the FOX Blog of Fame will evolve into a prestigious event. Just to be nominated is to be recognized as giving exceptional effort into making this one of the best blogging communities on the net.

We thank you for reading this entry, and look forward to hearing your ideas, your opinions, and even your complaints. We will be making the announcement for the category of the first FBOF next week. Stay tuned! And like always, please feel free to comment below, and to add this blog to your favorites.
