Ladies and Gentlemen: We are happy to announce the official FOX Blog of Fame. (FBOF) After months of kicking around an idea, here it is. A place for you, the blogging community that has made this one of the best sports sites on the web.
The concept is simple. This is a blog about the best blogs on this site. A place that will run, and policed by you, the FOX Sports Blogger.
Overview: Every year there will be 12 blogs inducted into the FBOF. For the first three months, we will induct 3 blogs, one every month. After the first 3 months, we will induct 3 new blogs every three months. All three new blogs will be inducted all at once. (Jan= 1 blog, Feb= 1 blog, March= 1 blog, then we will induct 3 blogs in June, 3 blogs in Sept, and 3 in November.)
Then in December we will vote for the Blog of the Year, out of the Tenacious Twelve that were inducted in 2007.
The Rules: This is a gray area. Since this is a blog made for the community, we believe the rules should be made by the community as well. But with that said, here is what we have come up with so far. Please feel free to leave comments regarding any rules, or rule changes you have in mind.
Nominations: Before the voting time period starts, blogs must be nominated. You may not nominate yourself for any category. You must be nominated by someone else for the Blog of Fame. In order to nominate, or vote, you must have your own blog. Also, your blog must be at least three months old, or have at least 20 blog entries published to be eligible to vote and to nominate. Everyone that meets these standards, are eligible to nominate 3 blogs. (But everyone will only be able to vote once for the FBOF.) WHY? Well, this is just an idea. Sound off on what you think about the eligibility factors to participate.
Voting: Once the nominations have been counted. The top 5 nominated blogs in each category will be eligible for the FBOF. Once the top 5 nominations are announced, a voting period of one week will begin. To be eligible to vote, you once again need to have a blog that is over 3 months old, or at least 20 blog entries published. (Whichever comes first.) Here is the kicker. You can only vote ONCE! Each member of the blogging community is eligible to nominate as many blogs as you want, but when it comes time to vote, you can only vote once. You can only vote for one of the blogs that have been nominationed.
Once the week of voting has come to an end, the polls will be closed. And no other votes will be counted. The winner of the category will be announced, and that blog will be inducted to the FOX Blog of Fame.
Once the blog has been announced into the FBOF, that blog will not be eligible for any other category of the year. If your blog has been inducted into the FBOF, your blog will appear in the link category of this blog, and you will be eligible for the Blog of the Year award that will be voted upon in December.
Also, you will be made a member of the Board of Directors. Membership brings special privileges including being able to nominate any blog, at any time, and that blog will be eligible for voting no matter if it was not nominated by any other blogger, and did not make the top ten nominations. (A FBOF blog has the power to include an additional blog into the top ten nominated blogs for each category.) You will also be able to make changes to the process of the FBOF, vote on tie-breakers, and will be asked to help maintain this blog site.
In December of 2007, all the inducted Blogs of 2007 will be eligible for the Blog of the Year. The winner of the FBOF will be announced as not only the Blog of the Year, but also the Chairman of the Board for the next year of the FOX Blog of Fame. That means this blog will be passed onto the winner of the Blog of the Year, to do with it as they wish. To make any changes necessary, and be the Chairman of the Board of Directors. (The Tenacious Twelve)
We hope this is an idea that will turn into a tradition, and that every year the FOX Blog of Fame will evolve into a prestigious event. Just to be nominated is to be recognized as giving exceptional effort into making this one of the best blogging communities on the net.
We thank you for reading this entry, and look forward to hearing your ideas, your opinions, and even your complaints. We will be making the announcement for the category of the first FBOF next week. Stay tuned! And like always, please feel free to comment below, and to add this blog to your favorites.

Short answer: I like the idea. Think the ones in our "clique" will like it too. But, you are going to have to adverise it, cause you know posts keep going down the pages/if not seen, how will anyone know about it? The Fuzz
It's funny because I just responded the following to Hoit about 5 minites ago...

9:49 PM Not a bad idea at all. Perhaps just like the HOF, we should collectively vote on certain groups/membership status, etc...
Not bad at all..
Let's work on this.
I'll participate.
A certain number votes should qualify us for different levels...

"In order to nominate, or vote, you must have your own blog."
With this rule, you're excluding a lot of people who read a lot of blogs here. I have neither the time nor inclination to start my own blog. That has no bearing whatsoever on my ability to weigh the merits of sports blogs in general.
Might I suggest an amendment to your rules -- restrict nominations to those who have blogs, but leave voting open to readers as well.
This also would have the added benefit of keeping a check on the process, and keep it from becoming too in-bred. Who selects members of the sports halls of fame? Primarily it's not players themselves (although there is the veterans committee), but rather those who watch and follow players' careers.
I guess that I would have to nominate Dudski, given only one chance. He makes me laugh, and he also makes me think, what with his great blend of topics.
I'd probably have to agree with Sleepless, Dudski is a first ballot hall of famer. But I need to wait until the drug test results are in, because it shouldn't be humanly possible to combine quality and quantity the way that he does without performance enhancers. If had to speculate...I'd say he is juiced.
Are there any Blog Hall of Fame rules about steroid use? Just curious...
Dude or Dudette
If you really want this to look like an official FOX BLOG you need to put the customary Fox Blogs into your favorites.
Ya know, Moose, Green Guy, Squirrel, Christine Rose.....
Without that you will never be able to fool anyone into thinking it is an actual Fox Blog.
Any chance that this will end up like "Lord of the Flies"?
And this should also give The_Dan another venue to discuss Hall of Fame merits, as that is one of his favorite topics. Let me give my synopsis for The_Dan.
"Sure, he scores a lot...or at least he claims to. And forget the fact that he's from Canada, that's a whole other discussion. I heard that he strikes out a lot though, which doesn't help his HOF chances. According to Paris Hilton, his inability to go deep may cost him several votes."
Shooter, trust me, I'll pass that test. I'm up on the latest steroid masks... if you want me to hook you up with my dealer, just look up "Canseco, Jose" in the white pages.
Where do we vote? Here?
I suggest showing the code to paste a link so people can link back to the blogs of those they nominate.
Personally, I don't like the idea of a Hall of Fame, because it's bound to start an argument by those with hurt feelings.
Do we get one nomination per month? If so, I nominate ShooterB.
Blogging HOF? I hope the rewards will be many:
- HOF Ring
- Certificate to place upon the refrigerator
- An autographed picture of Tommy Lee
- American Idol DVD, Season 1
Thanks for the nod, Ultra. I do appreciate it. And I should have known you weren't afraid of a steroids test.
What I really want to know is...will the Board of Directors be anything like being on the Jedi Council? If so, do we get to bring our own light saber...or will they be provided?
I mean...a friend of mine wanted to know. Yeah, that's it.
Actually there are two cliques and you have to be careful about which one you hang with. There is the Dime Blog clique whose primary focus in life appears to be breath in....breath out...breath in...breath out....ready?...HATE HATE HATE
Then there is the Fox Sports Clique. These guys leave their Yugos with lights on in the parking lot, they argue over hookers noone can afford, they will leave an untouched lobster plater to disappear while they go over and steal half a blogona sandwich from a buddy while he tries to make a straight in 8 ball (and almost always misses). These guys are a misscarriage but it's comforting to know you can hang with them for a month and a half until Dan Sobers up and yells at you "I TOLD YOU NOT TO FOLLOW ME AROUND. JESUS CHRIST NOBODY LIKE LITTLE BROTHERS". But he's not dangerous. He usually passes right back out.

blog of the day, in my opinion, at least when I got it 7 times, is chosen by a chimpanzee on crack. Because those 7 times never once included even one of my best blogs. total #### wins for me. hard sports...never a look by fox. Humor....forget it.
But write about race, hate, drugs, #### and moan and buddy you can wake up a STAR. I don't think number of blogs of the day should be a qualifier.

Thanks Fying Pig - I thought I had been forgotten since my pace of posting has slowed. I really need to get back on track.
Too many great ones to list, lest I fail to mention someone worthy and cause hard feelings. While the usual stalwarts (mean, socal, Shooter, Dudski, CarolynT) have been rightly acknowledged, there are a few who, like myself, have fallen behind in number of posts but certainly not quality. A few of the best and brightest writers on this site besides the ones named already are joshhoskins, nappytemple, norcal, edhardiman, and rivjo. Also, for his niche, Siddhathara can't be touched as a NASCAR guru (he also knows his other sports).
Thanks again for the shout out FP. If there is a Pittsburgh wing to the Hall I'm a lock, but I geuss I'll have to come stronger with the overall goods to get back in the blog-public's consiousness. Good luck to all those nominated.

Shooter, Outlaw: Just let me say this about that. I'm not here to talk about the past. Rats, I may have just blown it. Let me say it another way. If I had immunity and if I were using steroids, which I'm not saying. No, wait, wait, I think I can get this. If, hypothetically, my blog WAS on steroids, can't we still admit that I might have made SOME blog entries. After all, there was the three entries I made before I, er, no wait a minute. I'll have to get back to you on that one.
This is the official FOX Blog of Fame. All blogs listed below have been inducted into the FBOF, voted by the people that make this blogging community the best on the net.
