The Chicago Bears are 2-0 in their "new season" that Lovie Smith told them started at the Packers game. The Bears are seeing signs within these last two games.
One sign is that Kyle Orton is better than Grossman or Griese. I am not saying that Da Bears won't go out and get a new QB, I am simply saying that Kyle Orton is the better QB on the team. WHERE HAS HE BEEN ALL SEASON?
I also think that either the team has more confidence with him at QB, or for some reason the defense is playing A LOT better than the rest of the season.
The Bears cannot ignore the downside to this season, though. Even though the team won their last two games against teams they shouldn't have, the Bears must still realize that this team needs help! We need a new LB (with Briggs leaving), we need a new QB (Yes, I said it. Orton really isn't a Super Bowl QB, but it depends how you define that because Rex went to the '06 SB), we need a new receiver that can make an impact on the offense. Berrian you keep and MAYBE Mushin, but Mushin can't run his route. We need a new RB (Peterson is a good RB, though).
Do you see how easy it is for the Bears to say "We're okay, we can lay off the heavy moves this offseason" BUT THEY CAN'T! It scares me so much that they would say this and here's why:
This is what they could say: "We'll find an LB but we've got Urlacher so he doesn't have to be a big move. Orton looked good and is the future of this team, so no help at QB. Some of our recievers came on twords the end with Orton in there, so maybe it was all Grossman and Griese's fault that they struggled. Peterson is a good RB and we'll have Benson back next year. We're okay with only a couple of minor moves."
PLEASE DON'T DO THIS BEARS! THIS TEAM IS IMPROVING AND WILL IMPROVE EVEN MORE IF YOU HAVE A GOOD OFFSEASON! DON'T BE AFRAID TO SPEND CASH, YOU'VE GOT IT!
Frozen Tundra, huh Packer fans? I think the Packers found out what Frozen Tundra really is. I am not here to brag, simply to review the game between this great rivalry game.
The Packers have currently lost three games. Two of those three losses were to DA BEARS. Sweep. The Bears looked like the Bears of last year. They handled the cold really well (and the Packers didn't), the defense played well, the offense did a little something, anf special teams did well, except Devin Hester.
Hester didn't have a great game because they didn't get the ball right to him at all.
Favre had two interceptions, no touchdowns, and in the neighborhood of 115 yrds. Sorry to anyone that had him in fantasy now that it's playoff season.
Other than Hester, the special teams did well. Two blocked punts, and a little luck from the Packers punter.
Some say: "Useless win." It mattered. This is a good win for this team. Lovie Smith said before the game, "We are thinking of these last two games as the begining of a new season. Well, the Bears are 1-0 going into this season. There is another reason that this game means something. History says the Bears future looks good.
Remember last year when the Packers beat the Bears and came back the next year and are having the season they're having? History says the Bears could do it, too.
The Bears lost the Super Bowl last year, and most teams that lose the SB have a bad year, and then come back. History has it.
Orton looks like the best QB on the team, but I still like Rex. How about Orton starting, Rex 2nd string, Greise 3rd string, but that's if the Bears don't make any offseason moves.
So, the Bears could do it. The Bears still need a lot more additions in the offseason, so let's not think that their set next year, but it feels good to sweep the Packers.
Lovie Smith 2 years ago, sporting the same goal today.
The news is in. Chicago Bears @ Minnesota Vikings. A rivalry game on Monday night football, the Bears are playing for pride on national television.
It was announced that KYLE ORTON is to start for the Bears in this game. Bear fans have been waiting for this. I think it's a good move. I still think that REX GROSSMAN is the best QB for this team, and was improving.
However, he went out of Thrursday's game with an injury. The dilema began. GRIESE VS. ORTON. It's time for a new face on the field. Griese was more than dissapointing in a failed comeback last week, and the Bears had a chance if GROSSMAN wouldn't have gotten injured.
Kyle Orton is that new face. He led the team to the playoffs in 2005 taking over for Rex Grossman, and was a good QB with help from the "D".
The Bears are out of it, but I'm actually excited to see Orton start. Monday night in the Metrodome, which isn't as tough as it used to be. Hopefully Devin Hester can run one back, too.
