What a night! After 22 years, the NBA championship trophy has finally returned to the Hub! I don't know about anybody else, but I'm feeling ten feet tall this morning...
A few modest observations:
1)I had expected Leon Powe to get the Finals MVP nod, but it's hard to argue withe choice of Paul Pierce for that distinction.
2)I wouldn't have wanted to be around Phil Jackson during his post-game locker room speech to the Lakers roster. If I were the gambling sort, I would've bet even money he used at least five of the seven words from George Carlin's infamous list.
3)The Celtics' worst-to-first turnaround further emphasizes what a complete joke Jim Dolan is as Knicks owner. He needs to step aside and sell that team to somebody who actually has the brains to do what needs to be done to make New York an NBA playoff contender again.
4)There's going to be a very long line at the box office when Celtics '08-'09 season tickets go on sale. ;)
Just when you think the Knick's can't sink any lower, they find a way to prove you wrong. Only Jim "DNA" Dolan does more to hurt New York's reputation in the NBA.
I want to hear your reaction to the news that the Supersonics are filing papers to move from Seattle to Oklahoma City. Does this change the NBA for the better or for the worse? Is there any way the Sonics' owners might be convinced to change their minds? How will this shake up the playoff picture for '08?
OK, now that some of my fellow bloggers have voiced their takes on the trade that put Kevin Garnett in Celtic green, here's my perspective: I think Boston has added at least ten wins to its regular season total for '07-'08, maybe even fifteen. I'd also wager that in the playoffs they should at least make it to the second round; after that, well, it's in the hands of fate.
Somebody want to point out to this guy that the Cavs have home court advantage for the next two games? I wouldn't go planning the Spurs' victory parade just yet....
