Reed Johnson?

What, is he your brother or something? Your boyfriend? The stud of your fantasy team? WTH are you talking about?

Just like the football list, it's tough to mix positions. Offensively, I think that A-Rod & Pujols should be at the top of that list. Along with Ryan Howard...

With pitchers, Johan Santana is the best in the biz...of course, just my opinion.

My top ten...oddly enough, I'm leaving off Hollow Reed Johnson.

1. Johan Santana...most dominant individual in the game.
2. Albert Pujols...no one is more consistently dangerous.
3. Ryan Howard...just entering his prime...carried the Phillies down the stretch. The new Frank Thomas.
4. Derek Jeter...he's the Tom Brady of baseball, a team player who does nothing but win and deliver in the clutch.
5. Alfonso Soriano...the man nearly put together a 50-50 season. Best power/speed combo in the league.
6. Chris Carpenter...after Santana, he's the league's top pitcher, though the gap between the two is evident.
7. Francisco Rodriguez...he has become the best closer in the game today.
8. David Ortiz...league's best clutch hitter and arguably best power threat. Doesn't play the field, though, so he falls.
9. Travis Hafner...very similar to Ortiz. If Cleveland was winning, everyone would know about him.
10 a). Roy Halladay...former Cy Young-winner has returned to form and was the main reason the Jays stayed in contention for much of the year.
10 b). Carlos Beltran...outstanding all-around player who shows up in October.

*Why no A-Rod? Hitting is down...errors are up...disappears in the post-season...overpaid...a top-10 talent? Absolutely. One of the top 10 right now? No sir.

Todd, lol man. A small joke. Reed Johnson - my favourite player, not a Top Ten talent.

Shooter, agree with you for sure. Difficult to include every great player on the list. Thanks for your readership and input.

born2, valid candidates, thanks for stopping by.

wiseguy6, ditto as above.

PF, im not 100% sure where Ichiro is right now, but on this list, he doesn't make my grade. While his outfield arm is unrivaled and he is a great average hitter, he lacks real power and has yet to really do anything for the team.

Bubba, nice list. Very nice. It can become easy to forget about players like Hafner and Soriano when they play in dead end markets. Soriano probably had one of the most downplayed great seasons in history, and how about his outfield arm, being a converted infielder and all? I actually kinda almost forgot about him. Thanks for stopping by.
