Whats the deal with throwin #### on the track,I know twelve year olds that behave better than that!So what if its Jeff Gordan,I wouldnt care if it was Jimmie Johnson or Stewart, you need to show a little respect for every body that makes that race possible, including the people that let you in the gate!Grow up and act you freakin age.Its stupid stuff like that ruins sporting events, try to imagine a booze free nascar race,is that what people want.
on to the next topic,What is Stewarts deal?In the Busch race he was beatin and ####in with no regard for anyone but him self, nobody warned him about aggresive driving yet when things dont go his way hes got to talk smack about everybody else like hes some sort a god! David Gilliland didnt hit him on purpose in the cup race ,somebody got into david and put him into stewart, but stewarts got to shout off his big mouth before he gets the facts.I hope that carma comes around and putts his #### in 20th place in the points, of course it will be someone else fault seein as how GOD dont screw up!
One of the announcers (I forget which one) said state troopers were positioned around the stands, and fans were warned before the race that anyone caught throwing debris on the track for any reason would be arrested. Anyway, the announcer said more than a few people from the stands were being taken away in handcuffs.
Maybe cindi, lisa, or steeler would know more about that if they saw anyone being arrested.
I'm guessing that is why the victory lap was not shown on TV, because disgraceful fans.
I hear ya.... My thoughts exactly...
The sad part is that this is not the first time for either situation...
for years they have called Gordon a whiner but seems like Stewart is just as bad..
it's his arrogance..
Bottom line is no matter who it is, show respect for the sport...
hopefully there were MANY that was arrested..
Not sure how you are linking Stewart to the garbage throwing, Mavrik.
Regardless, it is pathetic and I hope that the strongest actions were taken against every single #### that was seen to be participating in this emerging tradition.
Our local newscast showed a fairly long clip of the cool down lap (thought it was the victory lap, until I read Steel's post below), and it was incredible - - dozens of beers hitting the track (wonder how many hit fans). At first I thought Gordon's very tactful reaction during the victory lane interview was good - but now I'm on the other side of the fence. He should have lambasted these idiots for putting not only his fellow drivers at some risk, but for putting other fans at risk. UNBELIEVABLE BEHAVIOR AT A HIGH SPEED (or any other) RACE TRACK.

The people that throw beer cans or other items are not fans in my book. In all my years as a Nascar fan,"30 years" I have never been more embarassed. Real Nascar fans may boo and dislike a driver, but we don't treat them like #### by throwing garbage on them!!!!!
agreed. They should be not allowed back on track. If fans cant behave at the track then coolers should not be allowed to be brought to the track....or limit the amount what could be brought
I DONT AGREE WITH THE SO CALLED FANS THROWING ANYTHING ON THE TRACK AND SHOULD BE ARRESTED FOR ATTEMTED MURDER.
ON THE OTHER HAND MAYBE THEY ARE TRYING TO TELL
NASCAR TO WAKE UP AND TREAT THE DRIVERS EQUALLY.
MAYBE NASCAR SHOULD MAKE UP A PANEL OF ABOUT 20 FANS TO DECIDE ON FINES AND SO ON.
TAKE THE RULE MAKERS OUT OF THE PICTURE WHEN IT COMES TO THAT.
IF TONY PULLED OUT OF THE RACE SUNDAY WHAT WOULD HIS FANS HAVE DONE.WHAT IF THE DRIVERS BOYCOTT THE RACES FOR A WEEKEND.WILL THAT WAKE UP NASCAR.THE DRIVER NEED TO GET TOGETHER AND TELL NASCAR HOW THINGS ARE SUPPOSED TO BE.NASCAR IS NOTHING WITHOUT THEM.I CAN ENJOY THE LOCAL SHORT TRACKS JUST AS MUCH AS THE WRESTLING.JUST TIRED OF THE BS.
Are you referring to BS such as Jimmie Johnson leading Tony Stewart and Jeff Gordon from 11th 12th and 13th place with 6 laps to go to the front of the pack, positioning Gordon for the win? NASCAR scripted that right? A big conspiracy...
THE BS I REFER TO IS COMMON IN MOST RACES.WAS NOT TO BAD THIS PAST WEEKEND.THESE FAKE CAUTIONS.THE DRIVER NOT BEING ABLE TO TELL THE PRESS HOW THEY FEEL AND SO ON.MAY NASCAR DID LEARN SOMETHING FROM TONY.
Well, I was one of three bloggers here that were there at the race. Gordon was strong all day. Smoke was also strong even though he was constantly stuck in the middle taking the turns three wide. It was an exciting and incredible race. Fans started immediately throwing stuff on the track, many of which were full, unopened cans of whatever. A little bit hairy for a while as people were livid. It was my understanding that NASCAR would not have ebded the race under a caution anymore, but I figured it was for safety. All the drivers got pegged bad, then of course Gordon got plastered and didn't do a victory lap. That was definately low-class BS from the fans(?) How can anyone be a fan of the sport and act in such a manner? That's not a fan in my opinion. Gordon won fair and square. If people hate Gordon so much, they need to stay home and throw whatever they want at the tv. Robbed of a well-deserved victory lap, Gordon was not able to, and we missed out on seeing a driver have what was rightfully his. Terrible luck for Tony, and the driver that caused it needs to be investigated. But Jeff had nothing to do with it. Your either a fan, or you're not.
When you say fans were livid, were they livid at Gordon for winning, at other fans for throwing stuff onto the track, both, or something else? And I'd also like to know if you saw any police taking some of these jerks into custody - T.V. implied that would be happening, but never saw any footage that would verify that allegation.
The only reason the fans at the Talladega race don’t like Jeff Gordon is because they can’t count higher than three which, equals the number of teeth in most of their mouths. The camera shots of the fans are priceless. I think I’ve seen most of them in the movie Deliverance. They should come to a race in the north and see how educated people handle themselves in public.
Fans are really ignorant doing this. I don't know what Talladega's cooler policy is. But they just gave the track plenty of reasons to eliminate coolers, increase the price of beer and stop selling beer earlier during the race.
