I have observed that many commentors on these pages like to bash some of the drivers, crew members, announcers, reporters, and yes, even bloggers that take the time to share their thoughts here on FOXSports.(and elsewhere for that matter)Can we try to remember they are PEOPLE damn it?
gratuitus bling
Everybody has a driver (or three) they cheer for, a favourite track (or four), a respected announcer (maybe)
However,
almost without fail every race fan has a driver / track / common-tater / NASCAR rule that they Loathe.
I am conducting a little experiment.
I would ask everyone to nominate one driver / track / common-tater / NASCAR rule that they want eliminated from NASCAR.
For the purpose of my experiment please keep the nominees to Cup racing only.
As you may- or may not know my son is in Basic Training in Georgia.
I am the ONLY person that is sending him mail. He's been in almost 2 months and has 5 months left to go.(He'll be done with Basic in April and then he is off to the "next duty station" according to his Captain)
His birthday is this month, and I thought I would ask my friends here if they had the time to drop him a line?
Keep in mind there are some very strict rules about what can be sent to him. Mostly just a paper letter in a plain envelope.
No stickers- glitter-red pen-pink envelopes (extra push-ups for those.) No porn or food or cloth or books or (you get the picture)
So if you have the time and would drop him a line that would be great. He knows a bit about my blogging problem so he'll know where I know you from.
Another option is if you just want to e-mail me a note/letter and I can print it out and mail it with my letter.
Thanks in advance

I am not attacking any one person/place/thing/blogger/commenter/post. Y’all keep writing what you are writing, I’ll keep reading.
Hot Topics
MLB players are outed.
They’ve been using what? Drugs?
College student/Athletes are under-educated.
They are cheating on tests?
NFL players are breaking the law.
And they think they are above recrimination?
Coaches are looking to the highest bidder.
They aren’t in it for the love of the game? It’s a money deal? They are cheating ?
No sport has a playoff systemn that the fans approve of whole-heartedly.
It's not fair!!
And don’t forget Television coverage of EVERY SINGLE SPORT leaves a lot to be desired.
It’s not as good as being there?
Most of these issues are the same as you telling me that my neighbor and good friend is ‘a little light in the loafers’
Heck he is #### (read bleep as politically correct term for non-heterosexual)–flamingly so (and a great hairdresser btw)
And your point is……………………………………..?
All of these revelations are no brainers. They make great debate topics and headlines, but seriously except for some individual names, did any of these stories tell you anything you didn’t already know?
Is any of this going to change anything? Really?
Don’t get me wrong I don’t have a solution for any of the planets ails. (well maybe one but that is not important)
Granted I am not explaining in depth each of these issues. Others here have done so quite prolifically. I do hope they continue to do so.
One of the issues I wanted to address is the fact that there are people in the know that are touting OUTRAGE yes, outrage that so-and-so was cheating or breaking the law or doing drugs or selling out or boinking bambi.
They knew all along. Hell we did how could they not?
Do they really think that a thinking person (such you, esteemed reader/blogger) believes their denials and their outrage?
Are they outraged because so-and-so did these awful things? Or just that he/she/it got caught?
Or could it be they too have a skeleton in the closet?
That’s my .02 CC’s
Read someone you never read before! You may find a new friend.
Now that I have your attention..........................
If I am recognized at all, it’s in the NASCAR neighbourhood of this little community. But it is the off season and I have been doing a lot of random reading around this site.
There are a lot of good writers here that have written articles that have gone un noticed (some have 0 comments ).
I have ‘borrowed’ a very good idea from Marty Walker’s currently archived “Daily Game Balls” (I think college football kidnapped him)
Granted most of the bloggers listed have a comedic side to their posts. Obviously that is my preference.
Any writer that can keep my attention on a subject I have little knowledge in and teach me something about the game/sport gets my vote!
Give them a read!
When I read something I like I will read their older stuff too.
Note to Bloggers: If you don't respond to comments, you might not get as many.
If you feel you-or anyone you read regularly- should be included in this list LET ME KNOW!
.
There are a dozen others I could name here but they all get good coverage in the comments department so I will let you find them yourself if you haven’t yet.
Racism, bigotry, singlemindedness, “NoMatta Whatcha Callit” it doesn’t belong here.
Quite a few bits have been written about the ‘invasion’ of the open-wheelers.
Jbroomy, Dave_in_Indy ,IowaGirl , to name a few have given me a bit of an education about F1. They are talented drivers.. Maybe in a different way than ‘we ‘ are accustomed, but talented none the less. It’s not like they just walked in and got handed a ride.
Most recently, dsd0174 has a good perspective on the inclusion of all drivers.(As do many here)
And yet there are too many comment s that slander.(I won’t link to their blogs)
“They talk funny “ “They can’t speak the language”
“They race funny looking cars” “They aren’t even real race cars”
“They don’t belong here” “Ship them back to where ever they came from”
“They ain’t from around here.” “We don’t want our guys to play with them”
“He/She is a [insert slanderous ethnic babble here]”
I noted the trend when it began on the ‘main page’ articles.
Comments about Juan Pablo Montoya and his ethnicity. (Which most get wrong)
Who cares, kids? If the drivers can drive, they will prove themselves. If they can’t they won’t last long.
And yet, look what happens when someone from ‘another’ sport pops off with “####”,”barefoot” “trailer trash”, “expletive your [insert family member here]” slurs.
(see what I mean?)
The ‘sport’ was begun by some not so savory characters.
Many of today’s fans would NEVER have wanted to be associated with the likes of them.
How many of these [think o####ood word] would have been comfortable sitting next to some of the pioneers (especially at the party after the race). They sure weren’t clean cut pre-packages stars.
NASCAR fans have come along way,a majority of the outsiders associated us with the stereotype we now only see occassionally.
And the TOYOTA issue. Jeez with the C.o.T. they all look alike anyway. “We want it like the good old days”
Don’t get me wrong I was a huge fan of “Race on Sunday, sell on Monday”
If the Nationwide Series takes the rumoured turns, maybe we will have a bit of that back?
Did you know NASCAR’s early history included several foreign manufacturers, such as Aston Martin, Austin-Healey, Citroën, Jaguar, MG, Morgan, Porsche, Renault, and Volkswagen?
From the 1960s until 2004 entry was restricted to American manufacturers. The restriction was relaxed in recognition of the fact that the Tundra, is built in America.
You may also note that the "American" cars are often built or assembled in Canada and Mexico.
I also note that these are some of the typers that claim they are leaving their “favourite” driver, because of a manufacturer/sponsor/team change. Boy you really are a die-hard fan for YOUR driver, aren’t you.
Many different backgrounds, cultures, upbringings, countries and points of view exist in this little on-line community. Why single out someone you don’t even know for what you think he/she is or isn’t?
A NotInMyBackYard-Is one creature we don’t need here.
“The only thing that Yunick did better than bend the rules was use cuss words” (more to come on this guy)
Like I said “Get YOUR RACE-ism OUT of MY RACE-ing”
I'm not known for having much NFL knowledge, so I asked my old pal and alter ego, Fred West to stop by and give me a hand. “Well, here ya are in an NFL bloggin’ contest. Not sure how ya dood it but whelp, here I am to hep ya.”
“Thanks Fred, since you were here I thought you might help.” “Sho, so what’s yer topic?”
“The NFC West” “There are sum perty smart peoples on that there list and theyuns all got some good topics. Now ya gots ya a really non specific topic”
"I spoke to Broncogirl and I think we have a handle on it." “Sorry Broncogirl I thunk maybe them there judges dumbed it down seein’ as how , fur as they know YeeMum only knows NASCAR and well ya kin ax anybody, that ain’t a real sport. Oh yea and she’s a durned ole girl to boot.”
“Fred, um, so are you.” “Yeppers and I ain’t got no problem wit that. How ya like my new halter top? Now lets get on."
“Let me tell you the rules as I know them" "The blog must be as grammatically correct as you can make it." "You tell these nice peoples that I are real smart but I ain't real good at this articulatin' stuff, a'ight?"
The blog must be detailed, clearly stating your opinion on the matter. " “Ok then. The NFC West, I like it. I am glad we have it. Otherwise them feetsball players and fans in my part of the country wouldn’t have a team near their homes.”
“What do you know about the NFC West, Fred?” “Ye gots the Arizona Cardinals (them birds not the churchy ones) So fur they have won 3 games and lost 2
I think they might be a bit confused sense they started in Chicago moved to Illinois then to St. Louis before they roosted in Arizona.
“Seattle Seahawks (osprey’s whats we callem) So fur they have won 3 games and lost 2
They have had 3 different bird cages since they first started, I know whenever I has to move I loose my bearings when I drink.
“SanFrancisco 49ers (not sure I think that had something to do with someminin’ there ’bouts) Now they have won 2 games and lost 3
Y'know I agree with you I jest caint think of anything nice I wanna say about that there team.
"Fred, they have fans too."
Ok they have never lost one darn superbowl that they were in. (there ya happy?)"
"Thank you , Fred "
“St. Louis Rams (them's good huntin' I hear) So fur they have not one a game (couple of almost close ones tho) . That’s not so good”
Now them critters are known to migrate but Cleveland to Los Angeles to Anaheim to St Louis is one heck of a migration.
“So Fred, any prediction for next weekends games?” “Glad ya axed me that one YeeMum."
“I know the Arizona Cardinals are playing the Carolina Panthers. I ain’t never seen a bird that could beat up a Panther or any of them there big cats. Now I know this is just a game but their record is even and I be thinking the aminal instinks are goin’ for me on this one.”
"Ok, I can see that."
“The Seattle Seahawks are playing the New Orleans Saints. Now I’m a god fearin’ critter but Saints just don’t seem that tough. They haven’t won one yet, and the birds this time are in their own cage. That reminds me- did them Saints ever get their house fixed?”
"Yes Fred ,they did." “San Francisco 49ers, they git to sit an watch them games, just like I’s gonna.
"It's called a bye week and no they aren't buying your beer." Now the Rams there is where I gots to step back an spin you a yarn.
So fur they been mauled by Panthers, just beat by them miners, pillaged by pirates, sucker punched by Cowboys and last week them Cardinal birds won em. Now I don’t think theyuns are gonna allow another set of feathers to just fly around a football field without a good old fashioned beatin’. That’s what I think.”
"Thanks Fred, glad you could help me with this." “Y’know I kina like this blogging thingy, I might just stop on by from time to time. You still got beer in yer ice box doncha?”
“You bet, Fred” “Whats this I hear you been talkin’ with Maude?”
“Here’s a beer Fred- we can talk about that later.”
Avid NASCAR fan. .I am generally quite friendly, and I don't bite (much).
- I like comments, I bet you do too. So I will comment.
I am not here for a pat on the head, however, I would like a wee bit of a comment if you happen to read anything I write.
According to my sources I am the first person to get 2 Game Balls in the same week. Check out "Hatchetman's parade of sports" ..March 2008 accused of being Best "most congenial" blogger: by LisaH
