I am proud of my young man. Now he has money in the bank, and a promising future.
His training will be beneficial if he pursues a military career or not.
YeeMum, once he gets to Fort Eustis, can we start sending care packages to him? They won't be as hard on the mail there will they? Thanks for any info you can give.
THAT IS WAY TO COOL, WHEN YOU GET AN ADDRESS YOU KNOW WHERE IT NEEDS TO GO, YOU BETTER WATCH HIM THE NEXT STEP AFTER AIRBORNE IS RANGER SCHOOL, OIR SPECIAL FORCES.
BUT THEN THEY ARE THE BEST OF THE BEST, WAY TO GO KARL. STAND UP , HOOK UP, SHUFFLE TO THE DOOR.
What? well that was fast, it seems like you just wrote the other post about him yesterday. time flys, at least i hope it did for him! wish him luck from all of us. Can i send the lap dancers to him now?
got two cousins who both put in 20 years . the pension after 20 is nice. remind him, cause retirement seems to have a way of sneeking up on folks, especialy young ones
b&o
We had better wait for the new address, wouldn't want the dancers to snuffercate in the dead letter/waiting to forward office.
(military mail, y'know)
Who knows what training he'll step forward for next.(The Airborne School thing was just brought up this morning during drill? or in formation? I forget)
Yeemum hows it going proud muum I hope him the best and the feild hes getting into will give him a promising future did he get the mechanic ability from you?
Its great to hear it YeeMum !!! I am sure he thinks the same about his Mom and Dad giving him what he needed to grow into a man and become something. Congradss all around. YeeMum has the first round. I will take my CocaCola Classic please.
That's great to see a young man making good career choices. You should be as proud of him as he is of himself. I wish him continued success in the armed forces.
Way to go kid. The U.S.A. owes you and all other military personnel a debt of gratitude

Yee - Congrats to Karl on focusing on his training and graduating tomorrow. You can certainly be proud of your son...he's shaping up to be a fine young man.
That's great. Maybe not the service I would have chosen. But it is always good to see someone joining the service in today's world. Those are the people we should be respecting. And I'm sure many here will echo my prayers for his continued safety and protection.
Karl, congratulations on your great achievement!! I'm proud of you and all of your fellow servicemen (I include women in there as well). God speed in your future endeavors.
Yee Mum He'll have no doubt packed on a few pounds of muscle and besides grown into a young man of stature. He'll definately do you and the family proud. Corgratulations on raising such a fine young man. It's every mother's dream to see their son grow up and actually make something of themself and have a future to boot.
Ren, I very proud for you, And him. I did the same this back in 1979. I went to fort Eustis ( EVEN UNCLE SAM THINK IT'S SUCKS ). That was the posts acronym lol. I went to the same place. I could have stayed there the rest of my career. I was always at Virginia Beach, about 20 min away. So many things to do and see. Tell him I"m proud of him.
Yee Mum The one thing military life does for a young man is give him a ravenous appetite and a zest for life. Hopefully he'll be fulfilling both ? Send him my regards !
Tell him that it's actually 30-40 mins. to the beach from Eustis..... you gotta get through the stupid HR Bridge//Tunnel (and that takes 20 mins alone.

But, if he enjoys racin' as much as his mom does.... he's only 5 mins away from some great Saturday night short track action.
YeeMum; You may have to change your name to GleeMum. Your beaming out of my monitor, as you should be as a proud parent.
Congrats to you for raising such a fine young man, and congrats to Karl for stepping up to one of lifes most challenging occupations in the military.
*takes off hat*
Question; How difficult is it when your child is posted so far from home? I ask this because my daughter has just enlisted with our services and will no doubt be posted in a different Province or Country and I have to admit I'll miss her like nothing before, but in the same breath, I have to give her credit, it's something she has allways wanted to do. Am I being selfish?
YeeMum: Finally able to find your blog. Said this on the other thing. Your son will like Ft. Eustis.
Plenty to do in the area, all kinds of things...plus there is Virginia Beach!
The hardest part was boot camp (happy that's over) we could only communicate via mail and delivery was not consistant. finding out he munkled his ankle a week after is was healed, that sort of thing.
I wanted to be able to be more supportive, but by the time I found out what was bothering him it was all over with. Not being able to be there for his grad still tears me up a bit.
Now he can call atleast every weekend, so I look forward to communicating in 'real time'.
I miss my boy and we do have the additional stress of his step da being incurably ill. Karl couldn't get here in time if things go bad.(we knew that when he signed up)
If you're being selfish so am I , but the sacrifices we make are fewer than the ones they are potentially signing up for. Besides, it's better than having a 20-something (or older) living on your sofa! :)
Yee Mum I've a couple of posts up that I'd like for you to view and let me know what you think as to their merits ? Poignancy And The Relevance of Memorial Day It Begins To Hit Home Hard !
