Ticket prices reduced- And DJ's 'racing' the truck!
Mar 19, 2008 | 2:06PM | report this

From lowesmotorspeedway.com

(The special paint scheme can be seen there too)

Dale Jarrett will finally "race" the truck and Lowe's Motor Speedway is offering a special two-day ticket package for just $44 so fans can be on hand Saturday night, May 17, when Jarrett's "Signed, Sealed, Delivered Tour" culminates at the NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race

.....before Jarrett straps into the No. 44 UPS Toyota Camry for the final time, he'll do something fans have eagerly anticipated, he's going to "race" the truck. After Jarrett is introduced prior to the NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race, he will step into the UPS Race Truck from the UPS ad campaign and take one lucky fan for a ride around the 1.5-mile superspeedway.

I think this is a fitting tribute to Dale Jarrett.

Anyone who gets to attend will indeed have witnessed an important event.

Any of you that get to go had better come back with a full report!

Since there will be a fan in the truck with him, I guess they won't let him "get up to speed".

Now that would be something!

I should hope not. Those trucks appear to be mighty top heavy.

Of course I ment just close to up to speed.
(Don't want the man injured before the All Star race)

But if it's a s...l...o..w.. parade lap, I will be dissappointed :(

Smokeforever~ Since it is after introductions, and before the start of the race, I wager we will all get to see it.

UPS is going to get all the air time they can with this big moment.

DOWNGOESFRAZIER~ The nice thing is Dale will be going out in style, and he already has the gig in the booth. I think we'll get to see plenty of him.

Just think the guys in the booth don't have to qualify!!!!!!!!!!!

don't you wish some of them had to?

b&o~
Dale's last laps (as far as we know)
Lowered ticket prices.
Any All Star race (just me)

All at the same time= an event (to me)

The hype with the truck etc is just icing.

As to the other-- I enjoy reading most of your stuff, this makes you easier to find. (and that other thing)

fer as I know he just decided it was time to retire.

now I'm not certain if he made that decision before or after he was offered the announcers gig?
Some one will tell us I'm sure

YeeMum, DJ was the guy I followed ever since 93 when Ned called his 500 win. Class guy. Now I have to find some one else to pull for.

DJ has been planning this for a couple of years. He just wanted to go with MWR to help them get started and use his "Past Champions provisionals" to get him some owner points. He's had this booth gig in the works and its something he wanted to do. Dale is a devoute family man and he wanted to be able to spend a couple of more days a week with the wife and his girls. Now the big question is who do I start pulling for? And don't anyone say the Busch brothers.

You know, I am looking forward to having DJ in the booth. Quite surprised he is that good...very smooth. Much better than Rusty.
They should do it like the commercial where some of his buddies, like Kyle, Bobby, Mark, Jeff and Dale Jr. go race him to the line.

degraff~Thanks for the info!

Picking a new driver? Is manufacturer or sponsor a factor?
Take a look at the rookies & semi rookies (not a bad crop there)

Forensic~ I've had the song "Tell me three things uglier than Dale Jarrett's car" I can't remember the comedian right nowin my head all week.
(from when it was brown)

I saw the special paint scheme and was kindof disappointed. But ...

Gerrel~Have fun there!

HawgRider~Thank you,
Who knows, there might be enough "racing" the truck footage to feed a commercial or two?

fishwanda~ long time no type!

moseby~ I like him in the booth too!(so far he doesn't have any quirks that annoy me)

HMMMMMMMMMM
maybe that commercial was a set-up for what might (could) happen?

Now how awewome would that be!

I agree with you, Joker. Waltrip and his baby talk plus his butting in make him a pain in the donkey. Rusty is boring but I think I would rather be bored than irritated. Boogity, boogity, my buttocks. On another note, I think Jarret has enough experience to know when/if the truck is about to topple. I think they should let him take it up to whatever speed it can muster.

smallblock~I would like to see Dale 'push' the truck a bit. But with a fan in the truck there may be serious constraints put on him.

True, but he could give the fan a trip or two, drop the fan off, and then go for it!

The way I read it it will just be one lap before the start of the race.
So probably no dice there.

We had some great ideas here though!

What if he doesn't leave the track. Will they have to black flag him?
