You big faker
Jan 14, 2008 | 2:36PM | report this

I don't know if the New York Post's little fake Jessica Simpson stunt (in which 21-year-old nanny and Simpson look-alike Lynsey Nordstrom attended the game wearing the same pink No. 9 Cowboys jersey the aformentioned Yoko Romo wore during Dallas' regular-season loss to Philadelphia) had any effect whatsoever on the outcome of Sunday's Giants-Cowboys playoff game.

But I do know this: I'm now rooting wholeheartedly for a Giants-Patriots showdown in Super Bowl XLII.

Sure, the Packers might be more competitive and a Super Bowl appearance would be a fitting swan song for Brett Favre.

But the fake Gisele Bundchen-fake Bridget Moynahan cat fight on the sidelines of University of Phoenix Stadium would just be epic.

Spy games
Sep 18, 2007 | 2:55PM | report this

For the crime of videotaping the opposing team's coaches for the purpose of learning their signals for various defensive formations, the Patriots were fined $250,000, head coach Bill Belichick was personally tagged for $500,000 and the team will likely lose a first-round draft pick.

For being found in possession of technical documents pertaining to a competitor's race team, McLaren was fined an unprecedented $100 million and was forced to forfeit all of its contractors points for the 2007 Formula One season.

But at the Women's World Cup in China, FIFA has closed the book on a case involving two Chinese men with video cameras spying on a Danish team meeting through a two-way mirror, having already come to the conclusion that the men were not connected to any other teams in the tournament.

So it appears to us that FIFA is either trying to sweep a potentially embarrassing scandal under the carpet or the organization is acknowledging that no one really cares if anyone's spying on a women's soccer team through a two-way mirror.

Now, if the two-way mirror in question was in the team's locker room, that'd have been a whole different story.

Man, I hate that guy

Now we have to choose between two equally compelling reasons to despise Tom Brady:

  • His ability to leapfrog from an impossibly hot actress girlfriend to an even more impossibly hot model girlfriend after knocking up the former.
  • He's apparently a Yankees fan.

We'll probably stick with the impossibly hot girlfriend leapfrogging, but only because this additional evidence that Brady digs the Yankees will most likely cause the whole of Red Sox Nation to become paralyzed with self-loathing as they weigh the three Super Bowl titles Brady has delivered to the region against the horror that is the revelation that New England's favorite son roots for the Evil Empire.

Besides, how awesome will it be when Brady runs onto the field for the Patriots' 2007 home opener and is greeted with a rousing chorus of "Yankees suck!"

Serious protection breakdown
Feb 20, 2007 | 10:22AM | report this

Once upon a time, Tom Brady and his offensive line starred in a series of commercials for Visa in which the Patriots quarterback informed us all about the five layers of protection.

Turns out, Brady could have used at least one layer of protection. Strategically placed, of course.

The publicist for Brady's ex-girlfriend Bridget Moynahan has confirmed that the actress is indeed pregnant and that the three-time Super Bowl champion QB (who has allegedly moved on from Moynahan to supermodel Gisele Bundchen) is the baby's father.

Brady has yet to comment on the news. Here's hoping when he does that he doesn't blame his teammates for this protection breakdown.
