I have to give the Pacers credit. Jermaine O'Neal is pissed that his team is mediocre and the GM pulls a blockbuster trade.
The Pacers have something that not many Eastern Conference teams have, SIZE
Troy Murphy, Ike Diogu, and O'Neal are going to be thugs on the boards.
Mike Dunleavy will also thrive in the Eastern Conference. Dunleavy has been inconsistent but he is a overall good player who just needed a better environment. Rick Carlisle likes to play slow tempo, and for Dunleavy, it will be like when he was with Duke
Stephen Jackson is an extremely good player, but a cancer. Ever since he won a championship with the Spurs, I think his head got big. He also appears to be a thug with his behavior the last two years.
Al Harrington is a Antoine Walker clone. He is a great talent but not someone you can build your team around as he is a power forward that shoots the 3 way too much.
Besides, the Pacers already have Shawne Williams. In 3-4 years Williams could be the player that people thought Harrington would be when he came out of high school.
The Warriors still suck! Just a lot of flashy players that never won jack #### At least they will be fun to watch.
About 5 p.m., Joumana Kidd said, she decided to go to the gym and asked Jason if he would watch and feed their 2-year-old son, T.J. Police said Kidd took a french fry from the boy's plate, and his wife told him not to eat the child's food.
"Jason then turns towards Mrs. Kidd and spits the french fry at Mrs. Kidd, striking her in the face," the police report said. "Mrs. Kidd turns away from Jason. Jason then strikes Mrs. Kidd in the face while holding a container of yogurt in his hand"
Police said Joumana Kidd ran upstairs to her bedroom and locked the door, but her husband kicked the door open. She said she went to the bathroom and locked the door again.
Mrs. Kidd called police, but hung up before authorities could answer. Paradise Valley police called the number, and talked to Jason Kidd first, then his wife.
He offered no resistance when informed of the arrest.
Kidd accused of abusing his wife - January 19, 2001 Sports columnist Bob Ryan was suspended by The Boston Globe for one month without pay after saying on television that the wife of New Jersey Nets guard Jason Kidd, who was allegedly the victim of domestic abuse, needed someone to "smack her."
During the show, Ryan said Kidd should expect taunts from the crowd, then criticized the Kidds for using their son "as a prop" and called Joumana Kidd an "exhibitionist"
In the dissolution papers, filed in state Superior Court in Bergen County, Kidd accuses Joumana Kidd of physically and mentally abusing him, threatening to make false domestic violence complaints against him to police, and of interfering with his relationship with his children.
According to the complaint, Joumana Kidd used the couple's 8-year-old son on Dec. 27 to sneak into the Nets locker room and rummage through Jason Kidd's locker to find his cell phone. After looking up the names and numbers on it, the complaint said she left her son to behind as she went upstairs to take a front row seat, where she shouted insults at Kidd throughout the game.
The papers accuse Joumana Kidd of kicking, hitting, punching and throwing household objects at her husband as she became "increasingly controlling and manipulative" in the last few years of their union.
According to Kidd, his wife had tracking devices installed on his cars and computers and has harassed his trainer, friends and family.
Bob Ryan, columnist for the Boston Globe was right all along!
Three years ago Bob Ryan was suspended by the Boston Globe for making offensive comments about Jason Kidd’s wife, Joumana Kidd and the treatment of her son T.J.
Ryan got a lot of heat from the media because in 2001 Jason was arrested for beating Joumana.
Well nearly five years later it in now Joumana beating up her kids!
SCUM!
"I'm so confident in my parenting skills," she says of the accusation that she uses T.J. as a prop. "I'm such a psycho mom. That's the furthest thing you can do to insult me."
- The player is African American - In a romantic relationship with his childhood friend - Like Caucasian women - Enjoys the night life - Good friends with Tyson Beckford
So, when Gilbert Arenas is scoring 30 points a game, all of a sudden he is this great player who deserves MVP.... Extremely underrated... blah blah blah.
But when Kobe did the same last year, he was considered selfish and hurting his team.
Lets remember that Arenas is a point guard, while Bryant is a shooting guard. It is not Bryant's job to distribute the ball around.
Is the Gilbert Arneas love affair an example of a double standard on Kobe?
I don't know but I think Deion Sanders would make a hell of a NFL coach despite his extremely limited experience.
It worked for the Mavericks who went with Avery Johnson.
Prime Time has been instrumental in molding Devin Hester in one of the best return men in the NFL. He also would be the best dressed coach in the NFL. His suits are snappy!
Atlanta Falcons - He has a great relationship with D. Hall and his personality would mesh well with Michael Vick.
Miami Dolphins - This idea was brought up by Adam Schefter:
Deion would love to break into coaching, love to do it in Miami and would succeed in that area just as he has succeeded in all others. If Huizenga is unwilling to take my word for it, fine. But he should talk to Sanders and see for himself.
Certainly established coaches haven't worked for the Dolphins, and Sanders couldn't do any worse. And the guess is he'd do markedly better.
Dallas Cowboys - If the Big Tuna splits, why not? The Cowboys secondary has talented players but they can stop nobody.
Ten reasons for why JaMarcus Russell is a better college QB then Brady Quinn and will also be a better pro QB. Oakland, are you listening?
1. Record as a starter:
JaMarcus Russell: 24-4 - Eight come-from-behind wins in the fourth quarter or overtime
Brady Quinn: 29-16 - 0-4 against USC - 0-3 in bowl games - Embarrassing loss against Michigan
2. Competition:
JaMarcus Russell:
- Had to win the starting job through an open competition his junior season. Beat out talented backup QB Matt Flynn and Ryan Perrilloux, the top high school QB prospect in 2005.
"Then there are his good deeds out of uniform: the 20 people he housed for a month in his apartment after Hurricane Katrina, including his girlfriend's grandfather, otherwise known as Fats Domino; the green bracelet that reads "Donate Life" to show support for organ and tissue donors, in honor of his uncle Ray Ray Russell, who needs a heart transplant."
Brady Quinn:
In the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl last year against Ohio State, Quinn had to play against A.J. Hawk, who his sister was dating and later married.
4. Product of the System?
JaMarucs Russell:
Played under Nick Saban his first two years and then became a star under Les Miles, a supposedly "lesser" coach his sophomore and junior season.
Brady Quinn:
Struggled under Tyrone Willingham his first two years and blossomed under offensive guro Charlie Weiss.
5. Potential
JaMarcus Russell:
Has gotten better and better throughout his career as a passing quarterback. Had a higher QB rating then Troy Smith this season.
Brady Quinn:
May have slightly regressed in terms of numbers his senior season. Has he pulled a Matt Leinart.
6. Size/Strength
JaMarcus Russell:
6-6, 260 pounds. We will see how much he can bench press and squat during the combine.
Brady Quinn:
6-4, 227 pounds. He can bench press 350 pounds (160 kg), and squat 475 pounds (215 kg).
7. Mobility
JaMarcus Russell:
Not really mobile but his size makes him hard to sack and tackle. Charlie Weiss compared him to a young Daunte Culpepper, which could be good or bad. Russell is actually bigger then Culpepper.
Brady Quinn:
A good athlete however, nothing special compared to other NFL QB's.
8. Intelligence
JaMarcus Russell:
Made the SEC Academic Honor Roll.
Brady Quinn:
From wiki: has a double major of finance and political science. He will graduate in January of 2007 (in 3 and a half years). However, as we have found out with Vince Young and Michael Vick, "book smarts" is not really important to become a star QB.
9. Arm Strength:
JaMarcus Russell:
It doesn't hurt that Russell's arm strength awes teammates. Take LSU tailback Jacob Hester, who played with John David Booty (now USC's starting quarterback) in high school.
"In my opinion, JaMarcus has the best arm in the country," Hester says. "John David Booty has a good arm, but JaMarcus' (arm) is incredible."
I am still sick to my stomach even thinking about the Boise State Broncos
I can guarantee you, if Oklahoma played Boise State ten times, the Sooners would come out victorious in blow out fashion nine times.
Lightning does not strike twice and this fluke of a program will disappear in the future. I think it is safe to say that this will be the last we hear from the Boise faithful in the BCS picture.
The ONLY reason the Broncos beat the Sooners is by completing miraculous trick plays. You really think any team in the future will be fooled again? Give me a break.
Jared Zabransky? Ya, I’ll see you washing my car next year. What a goofy looking quarterback with his blue cheese head band and ugly tattoos.
Ian Johnson? Okay, Johnson is legit but how lame can you get proposing to your girlfriend at the end of the game? This isn’t Friday Night Lights son.
As for Boise State fans demanding consideration for a title shot, get in line. In the past five years their have been much better and deserving teams then Boise State that have been screwed out of the title game.
If you want to be serious about a championship, join the Pac-10 because you will NEVER get respect playing in the freakin' WAC.
If a team like USC can get slighted for the schedule they play, what makes anyone think that Boise State will escape the same criticism?
GOODBYE ADRIAN PETERSON!
Its a damn shame that Adrian Peterson had to go out like this, but he will go down as one of the greatest running backs in college football history.
Was Peterson robbed of the Heisman in 2004? Yes
If Peterson were healthy this season, would he have won the Heisman? You bet!
As a Oakland Raiders fan I am torn. Do we go with Adrian Peterson or Calvin Johnson?????
I love the potential of Peterson but Johnson is a freak! If Peterson does not end up in Oakland I do wish him the best. He would be a great fit in Houston, but I do not want to see him in Green Bay.
SCREW NOTRE DAME
Only one more day until the Fighting Irish are exposed. LSU will win by 30 points.
Brady Quinn is NOT an elite NFL prospect and JaMarucs Russell will outshine Quinn just like Vince Young did with Matt Leinart last year in the Rose Bowl.
I do not even think Quinn is better then Brian Brohm, so lets hope Quinn ends up with his brother-in-law A.J. Hawk in Green Bay because he has bust written all over him.
PS - FOX's coverage of the BCS RULED!
I didn't know what I was missing but FOX put ABC and CBS to shame! I am not really a fan of FOX's NFL or MLB coverage but they done good this time!
Kudos to Thom Brenneman, Barry Alvarez and that other guy????
That was a pretty well-called game for a "baseball" guy.
Okay okay, Boise State played a great game against Oklahoma, but give me a break.
Boise State does not deserve to be playing Ohio State and should not be in any discussions of being the best team in the country if Ohio State were to lose against Florida.
A team with such a weak schedule should not be rewarded.
Boise State's toughest road game: @ San Jose State! A San Jose State team that lost to Washington and beat the mighty Stanford Cardinals by one point!
They did play Oregon State, but they are hardly a great team and it was at home in that ugly #### blue turf.
Its easy to get up for a team like Oklahoma when your schedule consists of Utah State, Louisiana Tech, New Mexico State and other cream puff teams.
So please, do not talk about Boise State as a legitimate championship contender. Even Notre Dame had a stronger schedule.
You know what would be a statement? Putting USC, California, and UCLA on your schedule.
Hey, Florida played LSU, @ Auburn, and @ Georgia all in the same month, so this is hardly unfair.
A miracle win against Oklahoma does not make a championship team. And BTW, Oklahoma would have won if WR Malcolm Kelly played.
Shouldn't Jason Taylor be more worried about the Dolphins next game against the Colts instead of another defensive players accomplishments?
Oh wait, the Dolphins are in LAST PLACE and are not going to the playoffs! All Taylor has to look forward to is the defensive player of the year award while Shawne Merriman is getting ready for a Super Bowl run.
I like what Merriman wrote in his journal on his website (which by the way is waaaay cooler then Jason Taylor's website):
Keeping My Focus On Field, Not Feud
Obviously, I'm having a little war of words with Jason Taylor of the Dolphins, and all I want to say here is basically what has already been said in the newspapers. My play on the field speaks for itself. If I were in Jason's position and I saw that somebody tested positive -- whether the test was right or not -- and was playing well, I would probably not say anything at all.
Whether I felt that person was right or not, I probably wouldn't involve myself in that situation.
Here is my thing: I don't think people have enough information on the subject, on what happened to me. They don't know what I tested positive for, how many tests I had -- they obviously have bad information. My situation is something that has to remain private under the rules, so I just have to live with what is being said and focus on my play.
As for Jason, hey, I've sent him a "Lights Out" hat and t-shirt, and a bag of popcorn so that he can enjoy the show. No hard feelings.
You don't hear Merriman talking about Taylor's divorce in the offseason (BTW, Taylor was married to Zach Thomas' sister).
What Taylor did was dirty politics. Taylor knows Merriman has had a better season then him. Merriman has more sacks (most in the NFL) then Taylor and did it in three less games.
Merriman is a rising star on a rising team while Taylor is getting old and his team... well.. sucks!
I mean what does Taylor have to look forward next year? The return of Ricky Williams?
I don't know. Does the NFL really want to give the Defensive MVP to a guy that was the first MALE spokesperson for Neutrogena joining the likes of Angie Harmon, Mandy Moore, and Mischa Barton?
I mean come on, I bet Jason Seahorn turned that gig down.
The Lakers are a nice team but they are not a championship caliber team. Phil Jackson and Kobe Bryant alone cannot get the Lakers another ring.
I mean come on, Lamar Odom is a nice player but he is not good enough to get the Lakers past the Mavericks or Spurs. We are talking about LAMAR ODOM! He's not the right player and not even close to names like Jerry West, Elgin Baylor, Wilt Chamberlain and Magic Johnson.
Kwame Brown? Dude is never going to be a superstar, Michael Jordan ruined him in Washington. Brown does not even look that much better in LA then he did in Washington.
This current Lakers squad can make it deep into the playoffs but that's about it.
That's why they must make the following trades to become the team they once were:
1. Lamar Odom, Kwame Brown, Aaron Mckie, and the Lakers first round draft choice to Minnesota for Kevin Garnett and Mark Madsen.
Remember when KG was the talk of the NBA? Seems like ages ago!
If KG wants to take his legacy to the all-time great NBA players level, he needs to win a championship. This wont happen in Minnesota and he needs to be traded to a team where he can shine like the superstar he once was a few years ago.
This trade needs to happen. KG owns a home in Malibu and the Timberwolves are just stuck in mediocrity.
Mark Madsen is one of my favorite NBA scrub players to have multiple rings (John Salley being my favorite) and the Mad Dog knows how to dance!
2. Luke Walton and Vladimir Radmanovic to Sacramento for Ron Artest
The only person that can get Ron Artest back to planet Earth is Phil Jackson. When people hear the name Ron Artest, they shudder, and I think it is safe to say he has entered the Mike Tyson, Terrell Owens, and Dennis Rodman category of most controversial athletes in the history of sports.
Jackson used Dennis Rodman's craziness to help win a championship and can use his zen on Artest. Artest is overall a better player then Rodman and would be dangerous as a role player.
Walton's stock has risen as high as it can while Vlad Rad could thrive with the Kings.
Here is the new Lakers dynasty. This is why Phil Jackson is the coach of the Lakers, not to coach a rebuilding team into the playoffs but to coach a dynasty like he did in Chicago and like he did when he first got to LA.
Kobe is your Jordan Garnett is your Pippen Artest is your Rodman
Under Jackson no team in the NBA would be able to stop them. I'm telling you, this team would SWEEP the Miami Heat in the NBA Finals. Garnett would demolish Shaq-Daddy, Artest would D up on Wade and Kobe would shoot the lights out of Staples.
No need to consider Mike Bibby, Jason Kidd, or entertain the idea of someone like Starbury. This is what the Lakers need to do.
Kudos to the Giants for signing Baked Ziti, $126 million well spent!
The people that think the Giants are stupid for signing Zito are straight up WHACK! Can you say jealous or just plain retarded?
Do people not realize how insanely durable Zito is? Six straight years of 200+ innings. Ya, Johan Santana is a more dominate pitcher (even though Zito outpiched Santana in the playoffs), but Santana throws 95 MPH, which means he is more likely to suffer a major arm injury.
A pitcher that is injured cannot help his team win games!
Plus look at pitchers like Kenny Rogers, Tom Glavine and Jamie Moyer who are having career years in their late 30's and early 40's.
Zito is such a crafty and consistent left-handed pitcher he should not only finish out his seven-year contract, but pitch in his 40's as well. Zito has yet realized his full potential and this cool cat is only going to get better with age. Being only 28-years old I say Zito has AT LEAST 12 good years.
If Glavine can do it, why can't Zito? His pure "stuff" his better.
BTW, I just bought Ron Artest's debut rap album My World
Dude is sick, pretty good for a "non-professional" rapper. I suggest you all buy this lyrical masterpiece. Much better then Allen Iverson's rap album and anything that Shaq put out in Kazaam.
I was born in sunny California and was raised in Norman Oklahoma. I am a big time Oakland Raiders and Oklahoma Sooners fan, which is very tough considering we are ALWAYS screwed by the referees. My other favorite pro teams are the LA Lakers and the San Francisco Giants.
