With the Mavericks near done with a trade that will send Devin Harris to the Bucks in exchange for the 6th pick in the 2007 NBA Draft, the Timberwolves are close to completing a trade that would send Kevin Garnett and the number 7 pick to the Mavericks for Dirk Novitzki and the 6th and 34th pick. Insiders agree that KG would certainly compliment the current Dallas roster, couple that with fact that Dirk has fallen from grace with his hometown fans and you can call it done. Both teams emerge with what they need and both players end up happy.
Hot off the BS press!!! Just like every other trade rumor!!!
"And, truth be told, James was right. Just before he went up for the final shot,
a potential game-tying 3-pointer launched with 4.9 seconds left, Bruce
Bowen reached out and shoved him in the back"

Not to say James would have made all of his free throws. Heaven knows he's been prone to miss, but at least the chance to tie or take a lead with a couple makes, a miss and a put back, would have been there.
I guess no one can say the NBA has rigged the games to make the series last....
On a side note, the Finals TV ratings have hit an all time low..... The time for rule changes, is NOW!
Being a long time basketball fan and avid watcher of the NBA specifically, I'm not going to jump on the bored with the NBA finals bandwagon, but I will voice my opinion on the style of ball that the Spurs play.
I'm a basketball purist in every sense of the word and am all about fundamentals, which is San Antonio basketball to the fullest extreme, but lord help me if it isn't about the most boring, methodical thing to watch. If it weren't for the personality of Tony Parker and the comedic flops by Manu Ginobli, I'd say this team is the most boring team to watch of all time. Tim Duncan, as great as he is, has always been blah to watch. Pump fake, drop step and lame dunk finish. Whoop dee do.
I'm not sure that it's much of a consolation to say the Spurs are one of the best franchises in recent years. but the fact remains that people would much rather watch a team like the high flying Golden State Warriors or the energetic Phoenix Suns. These teams play with passion and really get all fans into the games. Spurs fans love the Spurs. Not many other fans do.
I'm sure someone will say that it's just the fact that the Cavaliers are in inferior team that makes these finals so bad..... I'm not buying that. Cavaliers are certainly over matched, but they are not dictating how San Antonio runs their offense and defense. If the Cavs win a game, I guarantee you it'll be more fun to watch than any game the Spurs win.
What can be done to spuce up the NBA finals? I'm not sure myself, but common sense tells me that some lessons could be learned from International basketball. Possibly incorporating some International rules into our game during the regular season would produce more exciting results down the stretch.
Of course, look what the rule changes did for the NHL finals...........
With all the speculation this year regarding the future of Kevin Garnett and his career as a Minnesota Timberwolf, I wonder aloud, if we stuck all this information into a large processor and spit it out, what will become of one of the best power/small forwards to ever play the game?
Facts:
Garnett turned 31 years old on May 19th of this year.
Some say he's on his way out. I think he's in his prime. Certainly able to lead a team and contribute hugely! His numbers have remained solid and consistant for the last number of years.
He's a 10 time all-star, MVP, 8- time All NBA and 8- time All Defensive Squad
His numbers speak for themselves. He's a Hall of Famer.
The Timberwolves haven't made the playoffs since the '03-'04 season.
Garnett is better than this.
As a side note, Garnett leads all active NBA players (11 years) for the distinction of having played his entire career for only one team. In second place is Kobe Bryant of the Los Angeles Lakers.
Here's my thing: Where do you draw the line as a player between loyalty and team success? As a lifelong Timberwolves fan, I'd hate to see him go, but reality tells me his contract is killing the team. Garnett deserves better than what he's got in Minnesota. He should be surrounded with talent and yes, he should take a pay cut should he decide to stay.
One of the most beloved players in Minnesota sports history, Kirby Puckett, took less money to stay with "HIS" team, when other markets were selling the farm to bring him in. This is true dedication to your game and to your team.
Garnett needs to step up and restructure his deal or be traded. Period.
I am a 35 year old man that has grown up on being fed sports for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I'm originally from Minneapolis, MN, but have transplanted to Charleston, SC. There's not many Professional Sports fans down here, as there are no teams nearby to speak of, so blogging may be my new outlet!
I hope you enjoy the banter and I look forward to hearing your comments!
