The Phoenix Suns traded away their chances of competing when they trade Shawn Marion. Now that the Suns are out of contention they should show Steve Nash some respect and trade him to a contender so he can compete for a ring. The Lakers, Celtics, Pistons, Cavaliers, and Rockets would all want Steve Nash. But the Celtics don't have anybody to trade for Nash since the salaries wouldn't work without them giving up a member of the Big 3. Cleveland doesn't have any young talent that the Suns would want. The Rockets could offer Shane Battier and Rafer Alston, but Battier's contract is 3 years long and they wouldn't want to have that on the books in 2010. So that leaves the Lakers and the Pistons. The Pistons could offer Rip Hamilton and Rodney Stuckey if they were willing to part with both of them for Nash. Thats the only good deal since the Suns wouldn't want Rasheed Wallace, and they wouldn't want Tayshaun or Chauncey's long contracts. The Lakers could offer Lamar Odom and Jordan Farmar for Steve Nash and Grant Hill which would give the Suns a young point guard and a big expiring contract. They could also trade Odom, Farmar, and Radmanovic for Nash and Diaw. Both of those trades work accoring to ESPN Trade Machine. But the only way for them to happen would be for Steve Kerr to accept that they are going nowhere and to give Steve Nash the respect he deserves.
If Steve Nash ended up with the Lakers, the rest of the league would be battling for the chance to lose to them in the finals... Kind of a scary thought for non-Laker fans.
You rationale makes a lot of sense, and the Suns have pretty much sealed their fate trading for the Big Washout...
I am a die-hard Lakers fan. I write a lot of blogs for foxsports. I know a lot of stuff about basketball and have been named "The Basketball Oracle" by my family because of my basketball knowledge. I'm a huge Kobe Bryant fan and think he is the best in the game today. L.A. Lakers - 08-09 NBA Champs!!!
