I saw that sign on TV last night when I was watching the game. I don't think that Paul Pierce should have been the Finals MVP. Pierce had the first 9 season's of his career with his own team, and they did nothing except for the conference finals 1 time when he had another all-star on the team. He was the leader of a team that had the same talent as last year's Lakers team, but they only won 24 games in the L'eastern Conference (worst record in NBA) and the Lakers won 42 games and made the playoffs in the Western Conference. Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen are the reason the Celtics team this year was good. Kevin Garnett should have been Finals MVP without a doubt. Paul Pierce might have been the leaging scorer and captain, but KG was the defensive anchor (defense won them the championship) and emotional leader. I hate the Celtics more than any other sports-related thing. Paul Pierce I hate the most and next is a tie of Ray Allen, Glen Davis, Kendrick Perkins, Brian Scalabrine, Sam Cassell, and James Posey. I think Garnett and Ray deserved the championship, but I think the rest of the team didn't. Paul Pierce has always been a big ballhog who has led his team nowhere. Sam Cassell made his team pay him money to that he could go to a better team and get a free ring. Kevin Garnett was never shut down in the Finals like Pierce was. Without Garnett the Celtics might not have made it to the Conference Finals and definetely not the Finals. Without Pierce though, they could have still made it to the Conference Finals and if really lucky, the Finals. I don't know if the Celtics will have another chance to make it back to the Finals since they are an old team, so I think that added to their willpower to get a championship which was too strong for just Kobe's willpower. The rest of the Lakers didn't seem that motivated to win, while the Celtics best 3 players were going crazy for a championship. The Lakers will be around for a long time unless they make some major trades to assure a championship next year. The Lakers just gave up in game 6 after they got down by 16. The Celtics came back from 24 down because they wanted to win a championship more than anything, while the Lakers rolled over and died. Kobe tried to make his team win, but his teammates were too soft and they weren't making shots so he had to try and keep them in the game. Even if he could score, his teammates couldn't play good enough defense. The people who are saying that Kobe is no Michael Jordan are right and wrong. Kobe is a different player so that is why he is no MJ, but he is like MJ because he fought hard to win. The problem for Kobe was that his team was soft and not defensively strong while Jordan had Scottie Pippen and Dennis Rodman along with other strong role players. Kobe is just like Jordan in the way that they both were high scoring 2-guards who were just winning scoring titles and losing in the first round of the playoffs, until they got some help and learned to pass the ball more. Michael Jordan had a better supporting cast and wasn't facing as good of defenses that there are today. Michael Jordan is no Kobe Bryant and Kobe Bryant is no Michael Jordan.
This is a nice article to read until I read the word hate..LOL
You just fuel what I am already feeling, I agree with you " Michael Jordan is no Kobe Bryant and Kobe Bryant is no Michael Jordan".
Both Guys keep in touch with each other and one is giving advice to the other.
Ubershorty can you tell me why Kobe & Pau was setting on the bench for such a long time last night?
It look like a set up to me, so that the lakers will not have a chance to get back into the game or Kobe a chance to take over the game.
Uh, have I missed something or haven't KG and Allen also been the leader of their respective teams which also never did anything of note. So why would they deserve a championship any more than Pierce did?
The Celtics would not have made the finals without any of their big three. Have you been paying attention this season at all. The whole thing with the Celtics is that they embraced the team concept.
Yes, KG was the defensive leader and played good defense during most of the finals. But Pierce was the best player overall. He was the one who seemed to want it the most.
It was the Kobe fans who were making the comparisons between Kobe and Michael with Kobe coming out on top.
When people build someone up like they have Kobe and then he fails to perform like he did in the finals, he is going to draw the flack. That is just life.
And yes, his teammates also failed to perform. The truth of the matter is that they all failed, including Kobe. There have been a lot of excuses made for Kobe this morning, but he is supposed to be the leader of the team, yet it appears he does not know how to inspire or motivate them. And let's face it, the Lakers did not just lose to the Celtics, they got embarrassed.
Underage, I wondered that too, but I think it all boils down to Phil and his stubborness. He was going to stick to his rotation, come hell or high water. He has done this throughout the playoffs. It is almost like he forgot this was an elimination game and if they did not win, there was not going to be another one. Why save Kobe?
He also does not call timeouts during runs. He got away with it in the Spurs series because the Spurs were an injured, exhausted team, but it did not work against the Celtics.
Are you saying that Phil Jackson was in a conspiracy to keep the Lakers from winning the series? Why would he do that? If he had won, he would have become the all time winningest coach.
All I can say is that if you believe that Phil Jackson conspired to fix the finals against his own team, why do you even care about the NBA? I quit watching wrestling when I was about ten because If found out it was fake. If I ever find out there is a leaguewide conspiracy to fix the NBA championships, I will never watch another game.
There was no conspiracy to prevent the lakers from winning the series. They just got outplayed.
underage and Spurce, no conspirasy, Phil had money on the Celtics. That's the only way I can explain his....excuse the cough....coaching.
Ubershorty, what series were you watching, Pierce was a stud, other than game 3. Each superstar had a down game, some more than others(Kobe), but Paul played great. Before they came to the Celtics, what had Garrett and Ray Ray achieved playoff wise.
Congrats to Boston, great defense, great win for them.
The Lakers will be back next year when we have a real center in the middle.
The Celtics had a boatload of three pointers, defended, Kobe went colder than an Arctic Circle summer, no other Laker attempted to step up his game, the Big Three played even larger last night...etc.
Whatever could go against LA last night did, well, all except the zebras. LA had more foul shots.
I don't know what game you were watching, stop beening player hater, Paul did play his heart out to win, it could have gone to any players on Boston team, live with the fact that Boston won, have nice day sore loser.

we got a major hater here, quite a bit of biterness in there but its all good, did u really think ur one man team was gonna win a championship against the best defensive team in the league this year, and dont hate on pierce he did his time here no other celtic great has been stuck on so many bad teams as this brother, thats why he's the truth and the MVP! And the C's will be around a few more years dont worry, out there on the left coast ur gonna have to learn a little technique called defense cuz u wont win the ship especially against these c's without it and i aint no Kobe hater, the man was the only reason this series wasnt a clean sweep, it wasnt that the rest of the team lacked motivation to win the championship what they lacked was talent sorry bro u were lucky to even get outta the west, thats how great Kobe Byrant is he carried u all the way to boston but he's only 1 man, he wasnt gonna win a 7 game series against Pierce, Ray-Ray, KG, Perk, Rondo, Posey, House, Old Man PJ Brown and Sam I am, no chance, Boston wins again, city of champions baby
In time of crisis KG did not rise until game 6. Pierce was constantly making the tough points; defending the best players in the NBA which he did well, and rallying the team and the fans.
Although I am very happy to have KG; My man 34 held it down for us like hes been doing for a decade.. This is just the first time people noticed
I like the Lakers and I hate the Celtics. I have been a Lakers fan since the 2007 playoffs. I am not a bandwagoner though, because I stayed a fan through Kobe's trade demands and watched every game this season even though people thought they were going to be bad. I hate the Celitcs because of the players attitudes and they are always favored by the refs. My favorite players are Kobe Bryant, Dwyane Wade, Carmelo Anthony, Chris Paul, and Kyle Weaver.
