The Denver Nuggets won 50 games this year and still only got the #8 seed and were swept in the first round of the playoffs. There has been rumors of Carmelo Anthony trades, but like Hoffman I don't think they should trade Carmelo unless they get a really good deal out of it. I think the problem is the lack of defense and way too many scorers. The Nuggets have Allen Iverson, Carmelo Anthony, J.R. Smith, Nene, Kenyon Martin, and Linas Kleiza who are all offensive players. The only people on their team who try on defense are Anthony Carter, Marcus Camby, Eduardo Najera, and maybe Kenyon Martin a little bit. They should trade at least 3 out of 6 of their main scorers (not Carmelo) and some other players for some defensive-minded and good passing people. Some of these trades may seem crazy but they might just help out the Nuggets and the other team involved a lot. Note: All the trades that involve people that would be free agents are sign and trades.
Nuggets Trade: Allen Iverson, Eduardo Najera, 2nd round draft pick
Mavericks Trade: Jason Kidd, Jerry Stackhouse, Brandon Bass
Pros: It gives the Nuggets people who play defense and one of the best passers in the game. The Mavericks didn't do good with the team they have so having tough players and a crunch time scorer to go along with Dirk in Allen Iverson would help them. Carmelo Anthony would do a lot better being the primary scorer.
Cons: Mavericks would have 2 big scorers and no big passers. The Nuggets wouldn't have their leading scorer.

Nuggets Trade: Kenyon Martin, Linas Kleiza, J.R. Smith
Cavaliers Trade: Ben Wallace, Daniel Gibson, Joe Smith, Devin Brown
Pros: Nuggets get a 4-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year and a deadly 3-point shooter to go along with some good defensive players. Cavs get more scorers to help Lebron.
Cons: Cavs trade bad contract for a little bit worse contract. Cavs lose some big parts of their defense. Nuggets lose 3 of their main scorers.
Knicks Trade: Jamal Crawford, David Lee, 2nd round draft pick
Pros: Knicks get some fast scorers who will fit into Mike D'Antoni's fastbreak offense. The Nuggets get better defensive players who won't want to score as much. David Lee is a good double-double player which is what the Nuggets need. J.R. Smith will like being the main scorer for a team and a starter.
Cons: David Lee is the future for the Knicks right now.

Nuggets Trade: Allen Iverson, Linas Kleiza, 2nd round draft pick
Cavaliers Trade: Ben Wallace, Delonte West, two 1st round draft picks, Joe Smith
Pros: Cavs get another big scorer to go along with Lebron. The Nuggets get some defense and can spread the scoring around more.
Cons: Cavs lose a big part of their defense. Nuggets lose their leading scorer.
The current Nuggets roster is the epitome of cool.
The front office might consider acquiring a player
who has a minute interest or is a tad serious about wanting to win.
Trading their future in Melo, Kleiza and Smith is not the way to go. Martin I do not think they could dump because of his salary. I think Iverson is the way to go with Nene and or Najera, but they need a point guard that can play defense.
The only good trade on this blog is the Dallas trade. It would give Denver some good leadership with Kidd (great point guard) and Stackhouse (leadership off the bench). This is even a comparable trade for both teams.
Can't say I agree with all your posts, but I like to read them anyway. They always provoke a lot of different responses, which is the purpose of a blog anyway. Ignore those who criticize with no point, most of them don't have the balls to write a blog themselves for fear of what people will say. You obviously have your opinions and some NBA knowledge to go with it. Keep it up!
Kenyon is hard to move, who wants that injury prone chump of a contract. Lets face it AI and Melo are not a good duo, one of em needs to go. I'd keep Melo.
Melo is trade bait as much as AI and anyone on that roster. All Melo has going for him is a pretty jump shot and the occassional dunk and that's it. He can't play defense and he seldom gets his players involved. He hasn't been a factor in getting the Nuggets passed the first round in five years! Nuggets should not make the same mistake the Wolves did with Garnett.
I also feel Dirk from the Mavs should be trade bait because he hasn't been a factor in the last two playoff series. If the Nuggets and Mavs can get something good for Melo and Dirk which would make them future contenders then they should go for it, because my Lakers are only gonna better.
Good blog idea but none of the trade scenarios are appealing. J Kidd has slowed down considerably and cant score worth a lick and we saw what kind of D he played on Chris Paul. I would never trade AI for him when AI is still holding his own even though he is getting older. Your right about the Nuggets needing better defenders and having too much scoring but these trades wouldn't do much. I also think Melo only plays one side of the floor and probably will never become a great or even decent defender. What the Nuggets need is a big guy that does it all to pair up with either Melo or AI, such as a Chris Bosh.
Yo Oracle; I gotta say that these are some interesting moves. I agree with some and some I don't. I believe that Kidd still has alot of gas in the tank, no need to trade him. Not every year is a great year in the life of a NBA star. I could pontificate on each and every scenario you present but no need, they are all interesting and are your opinion. If it was so easy to "roster" a team we wouldnt be here discussing it. Keep the info rolling "uber" always a treat to read your blogs.
I say trade everyone, but JR Smith, Klieza, or Nene. They are the only player who showed heart against the Lakers. Trade Anthony, he isn't a leader, can't play defense and why would you want to pay him to be one. They have to trade Iverson or lose him for nothing next year and Camby will probably retire in two years. Start over and get some good players in a stack draft class.

Noone in the West wants AI or Carmelo, maybe some east teams like the Nets would want a bulk shot scorer with no D and showing signs of being the same player every year now. The worst thing the Nuggets can do is trade Klieza, as he is the only one on the team that looks like a winner on both ends of the court. They should probably do everything in their power to revamp their image, move away from the AI and Carmelo experiment and build around Camby, Kleiza and Nene, (if he stays healthy)
What, trade AI. He is the leader of the team and why would the Mavericks want him. The reason the Nuggets are such a bad defensive team is because none of them play real defense. AI is good at attacking the ball but very bad at denying the bass and even worse at perimeter defense. Carmelo is just a horrible defender and Marcus Camby who shouldn't have ever won the DPOY does nothing but block shots and rebound. What a good defensive team has is a big post defender that doesn't let anyone post up on him. They need a SF who attacks the ball denies the ball and basicly be a lock down defender on everyone. They also need a guard point or shooting that is a good perimeter defender and has a lot of lateral quickness. The last thing they need is also a deep bench that gives your stars breaks so they can play both ways.
The best thing the Nuggets could do would be to pick up Ron Artest. The only bad thing about this is AI and Ron Ron might get in little fights. You also don't want to give up to much to get him.
He looks handsome. I just saw his profile on millionaire&celeb dating site RichMatchMaking.c om. It is said he has a crush on wealthy young women on that site.
I'm sure every other GM in the league is looking to 'help out' the nuggets with these types of one way trades. Sorry, not too many teams want Iverson. He sells tickets but 31,32 year old guys who have max contracts that rely on quickness to get their shots just aren't in demand. Nuggets are the warriors, are the the mavs now, suns, etc. Good but not anywhere near championship level.
I seriously wonder if the Nuggets shouldn't trade Carmelo Anthony. They have had him for a couple of years and had some pretty good players around him but they still have not been able to win in the playoffs. Marcus Camby is a good player and so is Nene (Well when they are healthy). The Nuggets had a great PG in Andre Miller but traded him away for another scorer in Allen Iverson, and the Nuggets still cannot win with even though they have Allen Iverson.
I am starting to wonder if could be Carmelo the problem in Denver.
knicks should trade for iverson let me play out his contrack work with dantoni for a few seasons and then let em go and rebuild ver y good contrack for the knicks to get rid by 2010 which is there new goal
iverson and Linas Kleiza&
for
eddy curry & nate robinson & Jerome James & Jared Jeffries and Mardy Collins
the nuggets would do as well with paul mcartney drawing fans. sorry they suck. too much money no respect. these poor boys make too much cash! get somebody who want to learn and play hard.
I am a huge pro basketball fan. I am also a huge Lakers fan. I hate the Celtics because of the players attitudes and the biggest homer in basketball, their announcer, Tommy Heinsohn. I am not bias in the posts about these teams though. My favorite player is Kobe Bryant and I also like everyone on the Lakers. I also like Carmelo Anthony, Dwyane Wade, and Kyle Weaver (2008 draft class). Please visit my website, www.thebasket balloracle.co m
