Hoosier Stewart Takes the Trophy At the Brickyard, Again

Hoosier Stewart Takes The Trophy

At The Brickyard, Again

Growing up in Indiana, Tony Stewart had one dream, to win at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Tony had gone to the Speedway as a youngster with his dad. And he dreamed of the day in which he could on that track race in open wheel.

Well, he full filled part of that wish when he got his first start there in 1996 in an Indy Racing League Car. But the rest of that wish to win there alluded him through his Indy Days.

Even after he, did the double duty in 1999 and 2001 it still alluded him. It would take  him until 2005, 9 years after his first start at this historical track, before he would finally win there.

Not in a Indy Car, but in a stock car. Tony Stewart said, "That if I died right now, I would die a happy man." After winning the Allstate 400 in 2005.

Well, I guess Mr. Stewart is happy that he didn't die that day. Because today, he added another Brickyard trophy to his trophy room.

This makes Tony Stewart the third guy to win a repeat Brickyard 400 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The other two drivers Jeff Gordon (4) and Dale Jarrett (2).

So Tony enjoy this win! Just remember the last time you won at the Brickyard you won that championship. And since 1999 only one guy has won the championship without winning the Brickyard. And that fellow was, Tony Stewart!

It might have taken a talk from the coach to get your butt in gear, but once you did, you have proven why you are the best in the business today!

Congratulations to the 20 Team and Tony Stewart

on back to back wins in 2007! On to Pocono!

I have said before Tony can drive a car and is in the top 5 of drivers. BUT, He did slam Kevin and it was the only way he could pass him. When he try a few laps before Tony had to let up knowing he couldn't pass him clean and Kevin said to crew he's got me on straightaway but not in the turns.

Announcers saying woh about Kevin bumping him back, saying you dont tug on supermans cape. You don't slam you best friends car.
That just might have put a damper on friendship. Kevin was Pee OOO at that move cause it damge his car and didnt even get a second place finish. Can you say bull #### on TV ?? lol, Great post !!

Three hours since the end of the race, and no word from SC?

Fun race. Really would like to know more about the draft graphic they used (showing the flow of air over the cars and behind them). As in, how'd they do that??

Really great illustrative tool.

TS - It was an exciting finish as he and Kevin battled it out.

Hopefully he makes it to his fan club picnic on time tomorrow! He's usually late, but he should be in a good mood!

Smoke had the car to beat. He earned the W. Congratulations. As a Harvick fan, I howled with laughter at the "Here kitty kitty" crack!! I'm still laughing!!

Knowing NASCAR, they'll probably dock Harvick 100 points or so for rough driving while they didn't sit Kurt Busch for something that was FAR WORSE than Harvick ever did (NEARLY run over a member of Smoke's pit crew). In fact, I expect Harvick to be docked points and fined, even though he was TRYING TO BLOCK SMOKE during the race and he made contact.

That racing folks.. NASCAR needs to lighten up..I can recall the master at those moves and all he said was " I was just trying to rattle his chains". Nothing was further said about it..

I thought about you at the end of the race. I told hubby that I bet you and Cindi had huge smiles on your faces. Did any of you watch NHRA? It was great also. John Force sure has had an emotional year. I'm glad he has a driver for Eric Medlin's team.

jquinn11b All I know is that he had a meeting with NASCAR after the race. And Harvick wasn't talking after he left the hauler. So if there are any fines, it will come down late Tuesday or Wednesday.

lisa4usc That is Tony's favorite quote to say over the radio when he is in hunting mode. You are not the only one digging this. "Here Kitty Kitty, Pocono is next".

Forensic2 You can rest assured that this will not put a damper on Kevin and Tony's friendship. Tony makes Kevin way too much money driving his Busch car. So, they will shake hands and be friends come Pocono.

Oh and by the way, you don't pull on Superman's cape. lol

Dave_in_Indy That little tool was very interesting. You hear the drivers talk about how the air affects the car. It was interesting to see in graphics how the air flows over the car.

IowaGirl are you going? If you do, I want to hear all about it. Please...

But you know he will probably be late. It wouldn't be Tony if he wasn't late. lol

jon_464 I agree that Harvick probably will be fined pretty harshly. But it will not be for the bump during the race. It will be for the bump after the race. And when it happened, I told me husband, that the reporters are crazy. Harvick was only bumping Tony to congratulate him, like he always does. But I guess I was wrong.

And it is not right that Kurt Busch got off scott free for almost running over the 20 member.

volfan69 The problem I have here lately, is that I can't watch the final 20 laps of the race when Tony is in position to win. So I have to go back and rewind the tape to watch the win. But you are so right, I did have a big smile on my face and it was still there today. And all the kids I work with, knew by my smile that "Their Tony Had Won".

Well, bobdot, there was one young lady that got kissed by Tony and from the photographs I have seen, she was pretty shocked by it. The SprintMillion Girl. And as far as the Schlitz, I am not sure if Smoke would share. He loves his Schlitz.

bobdot You just finding that out? lol

Tony is well known for his potty mouth. That is why they will not play too much of his radio communications during the race. They might miss a bleep. lol

Yeah, like millions of children haven't heard worse in their own homes, by their own parents. Wonder how many of those parents have bleeped themselves? lol
