I just read that Byron Scott was named coach of the year.
I'm
fine with that; I think he and Rick Adelman were the only two serious
candidates, although Doc Rivers actually came in second in voting.
I wonder if this means Chris Paul has more votes for the NBA MVP.
Why?
First, the voters who voted for the Hornets' coach are likely to have voted for the more famous of the two Hornets' All Stars as well.
Second,
people who voted for Doc Rivers ahead of Rick Adelman are
likely to be confused enough about basketball to have voted for Paul over Bryant as well.
But back to the coach of the year.
In my opinion, although I like Doc Rivers a great deal, voting
for Rivers as coach of the year THIS year defies logic. He has 3 certain hall of fame players known
not only for their skills, but for their team first attitudes and their
amazing drive to win. It's not like there was a lot of ego to manage
here.
I like pretty much all sports, but to make time for the more important things in life, I have chosen to follow just one: basketball.
