Florida Marlins rookie pitcher Anibal Sanchez completed the first
no-hitter in baseball since 2004, against the Arizona Diamondbacks.
The Marlins won the game, 2-0. He struck out 6 and walked 4. This is something
that we all in baseball have been looking forward to seeing, hasn't been done
in years. The Marlins continue to shock everybody. Once a team that we thought
would lose 100 games, is right in the middle of the wildcard race. What's there
to say? Just wow.
Team USA had a bit of a scare today when Carmelo Anthony
drove right into Coach K, and left with a hyper extended knee. Hope he's ok,
because he led the team with 16 points for the game against Brazil. Brazil gave
us some competition, but the USA were able to pull out a 90-86 victory
(some NBA guys like Leandro Barbosa and Anderson Varejao were on the team). I
don't think this is too much for the USA to be worried about. They have played
great exhibition games so far, but played one of the better teams. I think
they'll be just fine come World championship time.
Minnesota Twins rookie Francisco Liarano could find himself
on the DL with a left elbow injury, which could wreck the Twinkies chances
of getting into the post season. Hope he gets better soon!
Anybody shocked that Jared Jeffries chose of all teams --
the New York Knicks to play for next after the Wizards declined to match the offer
sheet What the hell? Why don't the Sixers go after guys like
Jeffries, DeShawn Stevenson (the Wizards picked up him up after losing Jared), and even Chris
Wilcox? The frustration continues in Philadelphia...
Anybody hear that rumor about the Marlins
almostfiring
Joe Girardi on Sunday? Oh snap!
HOW does Dontrelle Willis hit a grand-slam (first homerun of the year)? Off the Mets? It's Lemon Lime Lima Time..Funny thing is, just like an hour ago they sent Jose Lima back to the minors following the loss. Love my Mets. If you're not good, you're gone. Personally, the Mets should place Darren Oliver in the starting line up. This guy can go a lot of innings, and only give up a few hits. There is no need to give Jose Lima money so he can give a pitcher a grand-slam. John Maine is getting the schedule start tomorrow, part of the double-header. We'll see how good he is, but he wasn't very good Monday, when we got killed 11-1.
The Philadelphia Phillies continue to loss and probably will for the rest of the year. They lost 3-2 to the lowly Pittsburgh Pirates, despite having 'ace' Jon Lieber on the mound, who was, well -- Lieber.. What is wrong with this team? They won't give up Abreu and Burrell (yet) because they think they're worth something. All Abreu does is get on base, when the guys behind him never score with runnings in scoring position. And Burrell just yells at himself in left field. Something's gotta give for this team. And don't go firing Charlie Manuel. He's not getting Manager of the year award, but he isn't the one out there pitching and batting.
Now this dude, is sad. Poor Gagne. Dodgers' closer Eric Gagne is having more surgery, this time his back to repair a herniated disc. How unlucky he is? So many surgeries, what ashame. To me, it looks like when he pitches, he throws his arm out (hence that commerical with the trash bags) Poor thing.
Barry Bonds hit a home run today. I think it's 720*. Does anybody care?
I don't think there's anything else to talk about, really.
