Jose Calderon deserves All-Star consideration
Jan 23, 2008 | 11:36PM | report this

Break out the hometown flag as this writer is playing the role of homer.

It couldn't be further from the truth as the Toronto Raptors shocked the Boston Celtics Wednesday night in Beantown.  The game-winning basket was scored by the man who began the year as the second-fiddle to starting point guard T.J. Ford, who suffered a career-threatening injury when he was accidentally hit in the head by Al Hortford that triggered a neck/spinal cord injury that has plagued his young career.

What Calderon has done in place of Ford has not only been remarkable, it comes to no surprise to this writer who has watched a young man with a lot of talent find himself and his abilities to be a very effective point guard in the NBA.  In fact so effective that he should be going to the NBA All-Star game this year.

My gut feeling is he won't.

Heading into the game against Boston, Calderon was scoring just under 12 per game and roughly 8.5 assists per game to go with a shooting percentage of over 50%, free throw percentage over 91% and a 3-point shot at 42% - a significant increase from last season.  Let's also remember that his assist-to-turnover ratio is over 5.5 to 1 - best in the NBA.

But you must remember that he was the backup at the beginning of the season which will naturally keep his averages low for an All-Star calibre player.  That said, Calderon has averaged 14 per game, 9.5 assists per game, 50% shooting with over 96% at the free throw line and a 41% 3-point shot over the last month.  His assist-to-turnover ratio?  It dropped to 4.7 to 1 - still incredible.  It's also incredible to watch a guy adjust to the significant increase in playing time and having to be the man in crunch time which he has done gracefully.

Despite having a much better year than Jason Kidd, Kidd will represent the East at the point guard position.  That comes to no surprise as Calderon was not on the ballot and even if he was the All-Star selection process is a popularity vote and the best player does not always get voted in.  The next spot (or two) will be filled by Chauncey Billups who is having another solid season.  If a 3rd point guard is selected it gets tricky; Joe Johnson could be asked to slide to the point guard position if he is picked to go (as could Dwyane Wade), and the other true point guard candidate that could take that last spot is Mo Williams of Milwaukee, who's having a very good year in his own right.  Jamaal Tinsley would have gotten consideration before the new year but he has begun to fade.  Honourable mention to another guy who is having a solid year is Andre Miller.  However, I don't know if he would be producing like this with a team that was going somewhere.

If there were no ballots and they stuck the vote in my hands, Billups and Calderon would be the two point guards going out of the East.  Then again, I'd probably ask to move one of the stud guards from the West into the East.  I want to run down the loaded guns they have: Chris Paul, Deron Williams, Baron Davis, Tony Parker, Jason Terry and Steve Nash.  Not too shabby.  Nash, Paul and Williams would be my first 3 picks out of the bunch.

Perhaps the late opportunity to start and the lack of publicity for Jose Calderon will be the reason he sits at home during this year's All-Star festivities.  Make no mistake about this young man because he has come a long way since his rookie year with the Toronto Raptors.  If his improvement in his game continues he will be an All-Star next year - unless we witness an incredible comeback from T.J. Ford that would spark discussion as one of the best feel-good comeback stories of 2008.

BIZARRO DEELEY-O
Jun 06, 2007 | 10:35AM | report this

Greetings Ladies and Gentleman of the United States of America.  This is your Canadian representative, The Dan.  What we have are a series of questions posed to you from random Canadians that you can answer for us.  Send them to my direct e-mail account at chevradionoise@gmail.com and these will be read tomorrow during the 9AM-Noon editing of my show at www.chevradioam.com.

Here are some of the questions posed to you:

1. Are Americans embarrassed that CFL balls are bigger then NFL balls?

2. On a given day, how many people get laid at Disneyland and Disneyworld?

3. What's with America's fascination with scepter muscles?

4. Why is the Star-Spangled banner laced with an incredible amount of sexual innuendo? (Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there, who's broad and we don't want to know what is gladly streaming).

5. What is with your infatuation of reality television and Paris Hilton?  Is it because both suck?

6. Why call it a bathroom where there is no bathtub anywhere in the room?

7. Is WhiteCastle that good?

8. TRADE ALERT: We have a dandy of a deal.  Since you guys are looking to win the 2008 Summer Olympics in basketball I would trade you back Steve Nash and I'll throw in Shania Twain and Donald Sutherland for LeBron James, Carrie Underwood and James Cromwell.  That way Donald can play Kiefer's dad on "24".

Remember to tune into the All-Star Blogger Show tonight on www.blogtalkradio.com.  Good luck to all those involved in tonight's program.

What's The Deeley-O May 17/07
May 17, 2007 | 10:20AM | report this

For the next person who wants to trade for Christina Ricci I have a little advice for you: SHE HAS BEEN TRADED! It was weeks ago. Regardless, I thank Miracle's intense efforts to secure her back on American soil but you don't need to give me 3 American States for her. She's your sex-kitten now. By the way, Miracle was 4 DAYS EARLY! Massive commitment.

Here is the link to our Podcast so you can check it out live: http://chevpodcasts.blogspot.com/

If it isn't up just yet, give it some time. Here is an alternative place you can check: http://odeo.com/audio/12630253/view.

- Here are the participants:

Miracle

Off the bat this week I have to offer another attempt
to trade for Christina Ricci.
This is from an msnbc article:

“Christina Ricci is comfortable being naked”

We’ll give you Alaska, Hawaii, and Ohio. That’s one
hell of a deal, Alaska has….well…enough about Alaska
how aboouuuutt Hawaii? Hula girls, volcanoes, high
taxes, malaria…ok forget those last two. To be
complete honest we’d like to get rid of Ohio anyway.

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/18537951<
/a>

- We cannot trade what we don't have anymore. But Hawaii does sound like a good idea.

Last week I was trying to book a flight to Las Vegas
and one of the hits in my search was a Canadian Air
flight. From an experience I had on that airline 10
years ago I started referring to them as “Canadian
Scare” Do Canadians have a similar name for that
group of underachieving Hosers in the sky, or do you
just get totally wasted on Molson before flying?

- Air Canada is sloppy, so that means we go above Molson and hit hard liquor if we are forced to ride A.C.

Can you tell me if the following Canadian laws apply
to the town of Markham:
1. Businesses must provide rails for tying up horses.
2. It's illegal to climb trees.
3. Citizens may not publicly remove bandages.
4. The city is classified as a no-pee zone.

- I don't climb trees but I pee beside one sometimes without any horses watching while I am taking off my bandage.

I am passing around a sign up sheet for all of those
that are interested. It’s a “Request for Congenial
Visits with Paris Hilton” form.
All you need to do is fill in your name, email, shoe
size, and preference of
A. "Front Door”
B. “Back Door”
C. “Other”
D. “All the above”

- Hopefully she'll show some life during this visit.

ShooterB

1) The Toronto Raptors seemed eager to get home after losing in the first round of the playoffs. What is the biggest reason they didn't beat New Jersey to advance? - "Coach of the Year" Sam Mitchell just isn't a very good coach - The Raptors were afraid Jason Kidd would beat them like a woman if they challenged him - Canada's "Hoserfest" Beer Festival was scheduled at the same time of the second round, and the Raptors didn't want to miss it - The Raptors shoot with the accuracy of a post-sex urination

- The Raptors found out that Molson & jelly donuts aren't good halftime snacks

*I would have to say post-sex urination, both in accuracy and in lack of smoothness.

2) TRADE ALERT: OK, since you are unwilling to trade Natasha Henstridge...here's another deal. B-movie actress Shannon Tweed for Steve Nash. You can argue that Nash already belongs to Canada, but since the Phoenix Suns technically own him...he rightfully belongs to us. Think about it, Toronto badly needs an experienced ball-handler like Nash. And Shannon Tweed is the exactly the kind of professional ball-handler I'm looking for, too. Nash likes to hit 3's...and Shannon doesn't mind getting hit by groups of 3. And just for a little icing on the cake, the next time you're in the States...I'll buy you a coupon for one free lap-dance at The Husky Beaver, where you will enjoy your choice of the finest women New Mexico has to offer. Do we have a Deeley-O?

*Trade is complete

3) I just realized that I tried to trade for a 50-year old porn star. Is there any possibility of adding a "menopause clause" to the contract?

*Yes and we'll even add a box of Trojans to sweeten the pot.

4) If you could be one of these Hollywood sissies from a sports movie for one day, just to get some prime-time tail...which would you choose? - Jonathan Moxon from Varsity Blues: He got an offer for dessert in the form of a whip cream bikini. - Crash Davis in Bull Durham: He got to bump uglies with praying mantis woman Susan Sarandon - Jake Taylor in Major League: Got to round the bases with former hottie Rene Russo, who now looks like something from the wax museum - Keanu Reeves in The Replacements: Scored with a very under-rated babe, Brooke Langton

*Brooke Langton is totally underrated as I loved her in Melrose Place. She was also in Friday Night Lights, the TV version, ####ing a high school senior. That guy hit the top 3 hotties on the show and could have gotten the coaches daughter if he wanted to complete the Grand Slam. Nonetheless, my order is this:

1) Moxon for Ali Larter with the dessert package

2) Keanu getting the cheerleader

3) Jake Taylor taking a then-hot Rene Russo

4) Crash taking a very overrated and overused Susan Sarandon

The Noise Factor: Rainstorm
May 15, 2007 | 6:21PM | report this

It's pouring rain and lightning bolts outside the windows here near Toronto Canada.  Funny that I would mention where I am from seeing that you would already know that information based on what you see in my info section to the right.  But apparently not being American automatically makes you less than knowledgeable in sports than an American.  At least, that has been presumed to be true - otherwise why would the line, "I see you are from Canada" be written down based on a differing opinion?

I have no clue how to handle the prejudices of being less than sports-savvy due to my current residence so I'll just go about my business by the only means I know how: Talk sports anyway I know how.  I'll also take the argument as a sign that at least I'll stick to basketball, otherwise I may have to pull out the anti-American card that I tend not to use since I don't have a problem with Americans.  So for those that have never read a blog posted by me, a Canadian citizen, this is how I roll:

- Suspensions were layed down to Robert Horry of the San Antonio Spurs as well as Boris Diaw and Amare Stoudemire of the Phoenix Suns.  So the Spurs lose their 7th or 8th player (give or take where you slot Brent Barry) for two games, while Phoenix loses their 7th (Diaw) and their big man in the middle for just one.  Already people have begun to concede Game 5 to San Antonio because Phoenix is lost without Amare.  I find that to be interesting because although he and Diaw are key members of the team I seem to recall recent history as a springboard to my argument still giving Phoenix hope:

Last year Amare Stoudemire played 0 seconds during the Suns run to the Conference Finals, and they also had Kurt Thomas out as well.  The way I see it, they are playing with virtually the same team as they did last season.  Now, this does not mean the Suns will take Game 5 as the Spurs starting 5 plus Manu Ginobili off the bench remain the same.  However, discounting the Suns because they lose Amare doesn't make sense after what they did last year without their two big men in the playoffs.  I don't expect a Suns win, but seeing they are back in Phoenix anything can happen.  And, if they beat the Spurs will Steve Nash prove his worth yet again?  We'll wait and see, but he's the MVP of that team without question.

- How does New Jersey shoot 27 of 75 (36%) when 4 guys combine to shoot 15-18?  Especially since none of the star players figure into any of the 4 guys!  That is horrible.  All they had to do was get either Richard Jefferson, Vince Carter or Jason Kidd to hit 33% and they win Game 4.   I know people want to give Cleveland credit for an improved defense but let's just call it how it is: Two weak East teams who would not be in the playoffs if they were in the West.  Lebron James on a sprained ankle is killing Jersey as they have no answer for him.  And although I do not overhype Kidd as a point guard, he has played very well in the playoffs.  Granted, anyone can jack up T.J. Ford as I saw many point guards do this year against Toronto (But I still like Ford, a lot), but Kidd has shot better from the field aside from last night (He's been adequate rather than horseshit).  But make no mistake about it as Kidd continues to punish weak playoff teams guys like Parker, Baron and Nash continue to smash better opponents.  And someone should tell Jersey's big men to rebound because you can't have your guards being 1-2 easily in the rebounding stat sheet.  That cannot happen and should not happen.

- Tonight's Utah v. Golden State game probably has more anticipation and excitement than any Utah or Golden State game this year.  It's good that they are playing a game that any basketball fan would be excited to tune in for.  Where I would probably have baseball as the primary channel for the west coast game tonight, I will be glued on Utah/GS.

- Someone should tell Detroit that they can finish Chicago off anytime.  Tough to beat teams when the switch is off.  They are down by double-digits again.   And the momentum has been in Chicago's favour all night.

- Did Barry Bonds say he's too old for "childish Acvtivities" when referring to Curt Schilling?  Interesting coming from a guy who's childish behaviour around the media ("Get that camera out of my face") has been well-documented.  Right or wrong, he can't say that if he didn't hear everything as he conceded to the media that he didn't hear it.

- Do I need to continue reading about Clemens throw well in a bullpen session?  Even Daisuke Matsuzaka says Roger is getting too much media attention over his comeback.  Unless he rips his yam-bag I could care less until he pitches in the MLB.

- Even though Roy Halladay may have an appendectomy, nobody is 100% convinced that the Blue Jays are telling the truth about his injury after not handle B.J. Ryan or Brandon League very well.  They practically need a doctor's note just to prove the injuries which means they have lost credibility as a franchise.

- If anyone can come back from a 3-0 deficit in hockey I would say the Buffalo Sabres.  If there is one team that could blow a 3-0 series lead it would be Ottawa.  But I think the series is done unless the Sabres start playing Sabre hockey, fast up and down play, hard hitting and finishing plays.  They need to exploit their strength which is scoring.  Ryan Miller has proven he can steal games but he can't steal games when you score zero.  Regardless of the outcome, they are both good teams and Toronto Maple Leaf fans hate both.  They also don't know the words "winning", "common-sense" or "success".  Truly unfortunate.

The Noise Factor: Drop the beat
Apr 27, 2007 | 7:08PM | report this

I'm sitting in a room at work on a Friday night (yes, Friday night), chilling out watching the Raptors get their #### handed to them by the New Jersey Nets and listening to "Suburban Bass" in the background (show at the station).  It may be the weekend and my time to relax but there are a lot of thoughts going through this mind...

- The Toronto Raptors needed to make a statement in New Jersey's empty house.  They did, but not the statement they needed to make.  Despite the questionable flagrant foul on Morris Peterson (his second flagrant over the last couple of weeks which was also ridiculous), the calls have been fine.  The refs have not been the problem for Toronto - Toronto is the problem.  They let Jason Kidd nearly get a triple-double in the FIRST HALF.  Their stars showed up, plain and simple.  For a guy who loves his hometown team, I've been mellow all year about their accomplishments, not overblowing their season or their potential.  Now we are seeing why.

- Speaking of Kidd, this was a massive performance for his standards tonight.  Not only did he get 14 boards, 19 assists but went 7 of 14.  That said, Game 4's stats should come down which will give the Raps a shot at that game.  One thing you can rarely count on from Kidd is hitting his shots, which is why I would take Steve Nash in a heartbeat over Kidd.  And Kidd's defense has dropped considerably over the last couple of years where average guards are jacking him up.  My feeling is you will have a tough time stopping a great offensive player but won't need to stop a guy who cannot shoot.  Having said that, Nash is the guy.  Nash: 5th best all-time 3-point %.  The man can shoot the rock.

- Curt Schilling and the damn sock.  Talk about a non-story!  For the last two days I've sat here and wondered, "does it even matter?".  No, it does not.  Why?  Because we all know how messed up his ankle was and how gutsy his performance was in 2004.  He pitched on one-leg and he showed incredible will that we haven't seen in quite some time.  It resembled Michael Chang's performance in the 1989 French Open.  He's a bulldog and he's one of the most clutch pitchers over the last 20 years.  If I had a Game 7 to win I'd have him in my top 3 to choose from.  He, John Smoltz and David Cone come to mind.

Blood or not, the pain he felt on the mound was real.

- The Buffalo Sabres have taken a 3-2 lead in their round 2 series against the New York Rangers.  So much for the Sean Avery factor.  No matter which way you turn with this team, they can either beat you with a great offense or strong goaltending.  But I will say this: May want to get more than 18 shots on goal in a game.  With that kind of depth on that team there is no excuse to have anything less than 25 shots on goal per game.

- I wonder what Torii Hunter wanted to do to Zach Greinke after he got hit in the mouth?  Did he want to beat him up or give him a bottle of champagne?  When he got hit initially I was like 'oh damn'.  Then when he took three steps and then turned around I laughed my #### off.  It's like he thought to himself, "My mouth hurts like a ####".  Torii's first impulse is to always take on the pitcher after getting hit.  It's nice to show off your fighting abilities from time to time but is it too much to ask Torii to one day fulfill his potential in one baseball season? (translation: hit 30+ bombs, 100 RBI's and maybe steal 30 just once).

- Michael Vick needs to start putting Football first and forget about all the other bullcrap.  Atlanta is looking really bad right now by sticking by their first mistake of dropping all that cash on him.  The mistakes for both parties continue to pile up.

- If the Chicago Bulls know what's good for them, they'd take over this upcoming 4th quarter and choke-out the defending champions.  I'm off...

Have a great weekend.

The Noise Factor: No hype up here
Mar 03, 2007 | 2:26PM | report this

Down in the United States the NCAA College basketball fans are gearing up for the battle of the Final Four tournament.  Unfortunately up in Canada, it's just another cold Saturday.  We know what's going on, we don't really care.  You can say that about every sport that isn't called hockey to tell you the truth.  In fact, The Mom is currently watching Men's Curling which actually does get some attention up here.  But sorry folks, we are as excited as NCAA hoops as an impotent male watching porn.

- Having said that, the tournament this year is wide open.  Ohio State?  UCLA?  Wisconsin?  North Carolina?  Florida?  None of the above?  We cannot say there is a 'clear' favorite in this year's tourney but there are some teams that could be in the mix for the National Championship.  What this means is we'll be in for one entertaining tournament this year.

- Jeff Garcia and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers both made the right choices.  For Garcia, it was better to sign with a team that has a chance at the playoffs rather than go to Oakland where he could get killed by his offensive line or even the fans wearing spikes on their shoulder pads.  It's a mess in Oakland, and Tampa is less than a mess, just a spill.  That is also one place where he should be the starting quarterback.  I have never been high on Chris Simms ever since he was a Texas Longhorn.  If he is a legitimate starting NFL quarterback then someone better call Major Applewhite and tell him he's in competition for a starting job.  And here's something else; if he was Chris Smith and had no relation to another NFL quarterback would he have had the same shot as he did?  Don't count on it.

As for Tampa, they got a guy that can move the football which was something they could not do last year.  Now for some reason Jon Gruden refuses to give Tim Rattay a chance, and when Rattay had the same supporting cast as Garcia a few years back he was nearly the same as Garcia in terms of passing statistics.  Not to say Rattay should start, but he certainly should have been starting the moment Simms went down.  Rattay must have set Gruden's alarm at 4AM instead of 3:10AM as a prank and Chucky didn't find it amusing.  Nonetheless, Tampa made the right move in getting Garcia.

- Now Tampa has the rights to Jake Plummer as well.  I don't understand the thought process of Plummer retiring since he is still good enough to start in the NFL.  Whichever way you look at his career you get the sense that the book on Jake the Snake is unfinished.  What I know is if he retires and never plays again, everyone that has questioned his abilities were right.  I'm sorry, after this past season I would have thought a competitive guy like Plummer who is still pretty young would show some fire and have something to prove this year.  Apparently he feels he has nothing left to prove to anyone and I along with many disagree.

- The Dallas Mavericks are the team to beat in the NBA.

- I never got on the topic of Shaquille O'Neal talking about a 'tainted' MVP award.  First off, I have always been a fan of Shaq simply because he has been more dominant at his position than any other guy I have seen since MJ retired.  However, his comments were out of line.  This is the same guy who endorsed Steve Nash's MVP award 2 years ago when he was runner-up in the voting.  How did things change after nearly 2 years?  And if it was tainted last year, who should have won it?  His former partner, Kobe Bryant?  There is no way Batman would allow Robin that kind of recognition.  Or he could have been talking about his teammate Dwyane Wade.  Uh, no.  Wade deserved the playoffs/NBA Final MVP but not league MVP.  As long as Shaq is useful on the court he makes everyone around him better.

- The Toronto Raptors may be my favorite team and my hometown team but they are simply not ready to take the next step as of now.  If the playoffs began today they would get bounced in round 1.  They have the makings of being a very good team but they lack depth at center and have had trouble rebounding.  They can move the ball and they can shoot but if they cannot pick up crucial rebounds off the glass they will be gone in round 1.  Now, they did not play very well against Milwaukee last night and this portion of the blog was not inspired by their play last night.  It is simply the truth.  They will continue to improve and it will be next year where they will make their move in the playoffs.

- Roger Federer is going after another record - Does anyone really care enough about?  As I have said before, once people begin to truly take notice of Federer's magnificance on the court it will be too late and he will have been past his prime.  And then all we will have is the memories of what he once was.

Then again I can't really say much about it either.  We get less tennis coverage than NCAA basketball coverage.

That's a good spot to end.  Make sure to catch me this Monday from 9AM-Noon EST on www.chevradioam.com.  Cheers.

*I can't seem to add Shaq's name in the categories list.

Blogger Re-juice
Dec 31, 2006 | 9:30AM | report this

First off, hope all of you have a happy new year.  Can't believe we are nearing the end of a decade.  I can remember being a teenager in the 1990's like it was yesterday; unable to avoid The Backstreet Boys on the radio dial, classmates whining about their parents not getting them these cool cellphones, the New York Yankees were actually winning World Series titles and Wayne Gretzkey was still a force in the NHL.  Ferris Beuller said it best when he said, "Life moves pretty fast.  If you don't stop and look around once in a while you could miss it."  Indeed.

Took a few days off to spend some time with family, friends and away from the blogging community.  Whatever you do in you daily life you always need to have a small period where you step away from the action, re-juice, and get back to it.  The few days off was exactly that for me.  Where did the concept re-juice come from?  Well back in that time period I mentioned above I'd tell baseball coaches they could pitch me in relief after starting earlier in the days because my arm could 're-juice' at an amazing rate.  At the time it was true.  And the coaches bought into it.  Great formula.

On Friday I along with The Brother and The Dad took a roadtrip towards Michigan as we saw the Wolverines play horrendous basketball against the Georgetown Hoyas.  The hype heading down there was tremendous seeing that I was there before and it was one of the best sporting experiences I had seen in quite a while.  Michigan could not shoot in warmups nor could they shoot during the game.  A bunch of late teen/early 20 #### bags sat in front of us, all roughly my height and severely underweight were just mouthy as hell toward anyone and everyone.  One of them wanted to fight the referee, who would have smoked this kid.  Speaking of smoked, he and another kid left their seats and came back with this grin on their face like they just blew eachother in the washroom.  Perhaps one of them was mouthy afterall.

I also noticed a lot more blonde girls than any other hair color at the game.  For every 1 dark haired, attractive girl there were 5 attractive blondes.  Not sure if they all fit the age requirements but I'm glad I did not test that.

some things that have been going on...

- some of you probably have not seen the World Junior Hockey championships but the ice surface they are playing on is HUGE.  I believe the NHL must adapt to this to have a game that will appeal to the US citizens.  I think you will watch a game where you can see hockey players do more on the ice surface.

- Good to see someone is about to go after DA Mike Nifong.  Obvious that he used this case to further his career.

- Randy Moss is still playing in the NFL?  Has anyone noticed?

- Baseball and steroids?  No way!  Dropping some names on us would be nice.

- Tiger Woods's baby might not be born with great golfing abilities but I'm certain he or she will have the greatest teeth in life's history.  Hygiene matters.

- Steve Nash is the best point guard in the NBA, followed by (in no particular order): Tony Parker, Chauncey Billups and Gilbert Arenas.

BTN is back this Tuesday January 2nd from 9AM-Noon.  Not sure what the hell I'll be talking about so expect nothing but greatness.  Catch it on www.chevradioam.com and you can e-mail me at chevradionoise@gmail.com for "What's the Deeley-O?" on Thursday January 4th.

BLOG WINNER/NEW CONTEST QUESTION
Aug 03, 2006 | 1:06PM | report this
This week was much, much better. The Dan was impressed. I want to show an appreciation for NeoAC as he's won the last two weeks. He did not win this week but I want to at least open this post by acknowledging his answer for this week. Well done Canuck, this was still a good answer:

- I want the afro that Ben Wallace had for a time a year or two ago. Why? Beause it would be the perfect place to hide money, non-sticky foods, household pets, you name it. If you have ever seen Marge pull anything out of her massive hairdo on "The Simpsons", you know what I mean.

Here are some honourable mentions:

detroitsports (WELCOME BACK!!! HE'S ALIVE!!!!!!!!!)

- I'd have to go with Ben Wallace's fro- Na to original. Rollie Fingers Moustach- Nope, too curly. I'd have to go with Steve Nash's "old look". I could get all the girls with that hair even though they'd probaly think I'm one of them. And then I'd maybe play like him too.

recsoftballhero

- When I look back at some of the most memorable hairstyles, one name comes to mind. Dennis Eckersley. The mullet/stache combo was breath taking at the time. To see the long flowing locks as his unconventional delivery to the plate unfolded, it's a thing I can only hope others remember. It was nothing compared to seeing him play in person. He then comes in and shuts the door on any hope a hitter might have of reaching a base.
Dennis friggin Eckersley.

THE WINNER: Nooch

- Fear the ‘Stache.

And I’m not talking about that weak, wannabe stubble growing above Adam Morrison’s upper lip. I’m talking about the wicked Fu Manchu ‘Stache that froze MLB hitters in their tracks when the closer of the New York Yankees kicked open the bullpen door in the 1970’s and 80’s. I’m talking about Rich “Goose” Gossage, his 100-mph fastball, and the baddest ‘stache ever to take the pitcher’s mound at Yankee Stadium. So, even though I can't actually throw 100-mph cheese like the Goose, I can at least look the part. And that's good enough for me.

Thanks for participating for those I did not post up...Here is this upcoming week's question:

- If you had to pick 3 athletes to play a round of golf with, whom would it be with and why?

Send to chevradionoise@gmail.com by next Thursday Aug 10 before 11:05 AM EST. Remember, keep it a decent length and make it creative. Good luck.
