Enough with the Blogs of the Day!
Mar 25, 2007 | 11:28PM | report this
Fox Blogger CentralThose Blogs of the day are so two weeks ago.  I read a lot of posts here and I have read a lot of compelling ones that have no recognition.  There are a few writers that are hot right now.  This is also a wrestling term we use to describe guys who get the most reaction from a crowd.  In a sense these writers could be moving up with upper elite veterans like Flypig, ShooterB, Socalsportsfan, Robert Green, Miracle, Southerncindi, and ReverendRhythm.  The Rev is the guy stuck on the front page.

Fox this needs to be fixed because I may miss someone who put something together I want to read about.  Maybe there is a local story about NFL moves coming up you wont read about until it is official.

Maybe someone has a NFL mock draft that just came out or is talking trash about another writer.  Please get on the ball.  I guess it could have been worse, that outlaw chode could be stuck up there.

Steriods, We Have Only Touched the Surface
Mar 05, 2007 | 11:43AM | report this
Steriods in baseball is a big story.  Steroids in the NFL isn't.  Steriods in Hockey and basketball are non existent?  Seems weird to see to of the big four pro sports in America have been infiltrated completely and the other two have not.  If it were as big a deal in the NFL as it is in MLB there would be a backlash against pro bowl players Shawne Merriman and Shaun Rogers who both failed and had suspenions this season for performance enhancing drugs.  Maybe the purist of baseball are just more outspoken than the NFL's.  I think it is just more excepted in football because of the controlled rage and strength of a pro football player.

The other steroid stories are that kids are using them in high school to possibly attain college scholarships.  It is also said to be very detremental to ones overall health.  Human Groth Hormone is used for AIDS and HIV patients ohhhhh wait and right fielders.

The surface that hasnt been even scratched yet is how many people actually use steriods or HGH.  I have worked with guys who were roided out just to have bigger muscles.......and that is all.  I think he just liked his big chest because he was pretty creepy about how much he looked at it.  Another guy I knew did it to be a stronger bouncer at a bar.  One guy I knew did steroids to be on the National Rodeo cicuit.

The media just doesn't know where to look to get the real story on something like this.  People in the media only know athletes using these.  People around athletes and working regular jobs know the common steroid user.

Sometimes it can be easy to spot a steroid user.  You are usually right when you can tell by the type of aggresion a person shows in athletics.  I####uy celebrates by actually ripping someones head off and #### down the neck, they are probably on steroids.

Some people you may think are on steroids are not.  For example, WWE has very strick testing now that it didn't have before the death of former Superstar Eddie Guerrero.  Now what you will see more of are less guys like "Big Pappa Pump" and more guys like Jimmy Wang Yang.  High flyers are the future of WWE.  WWE has had a lot of former employees die way to young because of steroid use.  The life on the road coupled with steroid and drug abuse really takes it toll on anyone.

Former US Olympian Wrestler Survives death once more!
Feb 25, 2007 | 10:16PM | report this
So I happen to know Rulon through Wrestling.  I was forntunate enough to spend some time with him for an extended period last summer and will again this year.  Ironically for one night we were stationed in a basement due to severe weather including Tornados.  He was telling me about one time he was lost from some other snowmobilers and was frost bitten.  He eventually lost at least one toe from it.

The latest pummeling with death was a plane crash.  In a story from the associated press that Rulon and two other men survived a plane crash and 44 degree water for one hour without shelter, over night.  Here is the story:

SALT LAKE CITY -- Olympic wrestling champion Rulon Gardner and two Utah men were rescued by a Lake Powell fisherman Sunday after surviving a small plane crash near Good Hope Bay the day before.

Gardner was a passenger in the Cirrus SR 22 along with pilot Randy Brooks and his brother, Leslie Brooks, according to a news release from Becki Bronson, public information officer for Garfield County. The plane was flying low when it struck the water and all three men were able to get out of the plane before it sank.

Authorities are uncertain of the exact location of the crash, but the three men swam for more than an hour in 44-degree water before reaching shore and then spent the night without shelter, according to the release. None suffered life-threatening injuries, authorities said.

"It takes only about 30 minutes for someone swimming in 44 degree water to start suffering the effects of hypothermia, so the fact that they swam in it for an hour, not to mention surviving the plane crash and the night without fire or shelter, is pretty amazing," said Steven Luckesen, a district ranger at Glen Canyon National Recreation Area. "If these guys were a cat with nine lives, they just used up three of them."

Gardner and the Brooks called a relative to take them for medical attention in American Fork.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation, Bronson said.

Gardner pulled one of the most stunning upsets in Olympic history at the 2000 Sydney Olympics, winning the gold medal in Greco-Roman wrestling by ending Alexander Karelin's 13-year international winning streak. In 2004 in Athens, Gardner won the bronze medal, and in wrestling tradition, left his shoes on the mat as a symbolic way of announcing his retirement.

This is not the first time, he has survived a life-threatening accident. In 2002, he became stranded while snowmobiling in the Wyoming wilderness and lost one of his toes to frostbite. Then in 2004, he was struck by an automobile while riding a motorcycle.

Stone Cold at Wrestlemania?
Feb 25, 2007 | 1:59PM | report this
It remains undetermined yet if Stone Cold will be in a match at Wrestlemania 23.  There haven't been any indications as to if they are going to even involve him in a match yet either.  On February 26th's Monday night RAW Donald Trump is due to announce who will represent him against Umaga in the "Battle of the Billionares match" in which the winner shaves the losers hair.

Now I am not saying the Donald is going to come out with Stone Cold, but Austin does have a new movie coming out conviently around the same time called "the Condemded" which will be heavily promoted by WWE because it is another in their newest venture of feature length films.  Another Superstar from Hollywood could be the Donalds other choice.  The Rock has been rumored to be making a return to Wrestlemania and is still listed on WWE's website as a member of the RAW roster.

Trump may go with Rey Mysterio who was set to make a return from a knee injury to Smackdown when Umaga came out and supposedly reinjured Rey's knee.  This could set up a match at Wrestlemania because Umaga is the new Intercontinental Champion.

JBL for Govener? RVD and Sabu's no-no
Feb 22, 2007 | 2:26AM | report this
When I talk to people who have friends in the business or actually talk to some of them myself, when they tell you something it pretty much happens, every time.  I have had guys ruin more than four months of WWE programming for me in ten minutes of having diarhea of the mouth.  You can also very easily get the Smackdown results before they hit the air.  I only recommend that if you know you aren't going to be able to watch the show when it airs.
The good thing is that WWE is a T.V. show that is done on the fly, so things can change.  Ask Rob Van Damm about that.  When he and Sabu were busted for weed on the way to a show, in which they were scheduled to compete against each other, he was forced to drop the belt to Big Show.  This was also bad on another level as well because "faces" and "heels" are not supposed to be seen together, especially when they are in a program together.

JBL for Govener?  In case you missed it on Smackdown recently JBL announced that he will be running for office in the next six years in Texas.  He is still undecided on exactly what he will run for but he may just get himself elected.  JBL is a very wealthy man, a smart man, and has been an investment advisor for  Fox News Channel, CNN, CNNfn, MSNBC, CNBC, and C-SPAN.  Although for most of his career he was a "heel" in WWE it is his charisma that made that possible.

Here is the official announcement from JBL from his blog:  "I want to explain that I have traveled this world working in this business, and I now am so beat up I can’t play a full round of golf somedays. I think I have a right to say what I want.

I also want to take this time to announce my running for office in the State of Texas. That’s right, I am running for office. I am not sure yet whether it will be senator or governor.

I preach all the time about inept politicians (both sides of the aisle), and how they are not doing what is good for America that I need to do something about it.

I believe we should be free of foreign oil. I believe we have an immigration system that is out of date. I also think we have a government that wastes money.

I am very much different from what is out there. I believe in fiscal conservatism and am much more socially liberal than most republicans. I don’t know yet if I will run as an independent or republican.

I also haven’t decided if I will run in the next election which is 6 years away or make some money for a few years and then run in 12 years. However, I will run and politics will change when I do. You think I say whatever I want to now, wait until I run."

WWE Hall of Fame class of 2007 Shaping Up!
Feb 21, 2007 | 1:20AM | report this
The 2007 class actually is shaping up physically.  This week it was announced that "Mr. Perfect" Curt Hennig was the second inductee for the WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2007.  The legendary "American Dream" Dusty Rhodes was the first inductee announced last week on Monday.  Mr Perfect was a man who could do anything and he had the tutalage of Bobby "the Brain" Heenan.  Dusty Rhodes was the son of a plummer and was known as the common man.  He was in terrible shape but still ran out those oversized trunks. His wrestling trunks were so huge they had more black material than Chris Rock.

Other possible inducties could be Jake "the Snake" Roberts.  It is unclear though because he has had a lot of issues over the last ten years in his personal life, and that seems to be one of the only things keeping him out of the Hall.  In the documentary "Beyond the Mat" Jake is discussing his crack addiction and what his life has been like.  Promoters said the Snake often would not show up to shows or even demand his retainer fee money and crack was to be ready for him when he got there.

One other forgotten guy who may get in is King Kong Bundee.  This large and in charge grappler was once undefeated for 3 years.  He also had the most vied match ever with Hulk Hogan at Wrestlemania 2.

Is it to soon to induct Trish Stratus?  She is widely known as the greatest Womens Champion ever.  In her final WWE match, Stratus captured her record seventh Women's Championship, riding off into the sunset after making Lita tap out to the Sharpshooter.

It Is About Time!
Feb 20, 2007 | 9:02PM | report this
Ok so it is about time I started this blog.  I am getting geared up for Wrestlemania 23 in Detroit!  It has been 20 years since Wrestlemania staged its biggest event in Detroit.  The last time they were in Detroit they had over 93,000 fans and Hulkamaniacs runnin wild when Hulk Hogan had the "Slam heard around the world" at Wrestlemania 3.

This years main events are set and they are match ups that are a little different this year.  They are all "baby faces".  All four men have heat as well.  Vince McMahon knows that "face vs face" matches are huge sellers, so he is double dipping at WM23.  McMahon has actually turned it up a notch with John Cena and Shawn Michaels currently World tag team champions.  It is actually coming off a little cheesier than I thought it would though.  Cena and Michaels are being a little to chummy with each other with the pending showdown in their future.

Trump vs McMahon in a shave his head match is going to be an interesting one.  The only problem is that Raw is over selling this like a "Ric Flair Flop".  This doesnt need to be sold every week for 10 minutes does it?  Is this just Vince's way in getting his buddy Donald trump inducted into the celebrity wing of the WWE Hall of Fame?
