The mighty Subaru Outback in the harsh Australian outb...wait a minute, that ain't the Aussie outback!
Yep, that's right. Texascudaguy has declared that I need to run the Subaru Outback BBQ team...what did you think SOB stood for?
So, following on from photogr's announcement about his all new GGW team, I also have some news. Photo politely declined my request about being put on as the crew chief (he mentioned that I should be watching the track and not the pitcrew...I know, I couldn't believe that either) but instead has agreed on a merger like what DEI currently have with RCR in the Cup series.
GGW will supply engines while my SOB's go rallying.
Why rallying you ask?
Simple really; there is no other racing series on this planet that have crazier drivers than the World Rally Championship. Also, it helps that Subaru already have a well established reputation in the WRC.
The Subaru WRC was responsible for spawning the roadgoing WRX STI
Like my fellow beast (though my panther looks slightly more menacing than the silverback if I do say so myself), I have also elected not to jump straight into the highest level of the sport, instead I'll focus on taking on the best of Australasia in the Asian Pacific division. I figure this will be the best way to develop both car and driver (yes, we'll just field the one car at the moment) while also providing valuable information back to #### HQ on engine performance.
Of course, since we're all about developing female talent...heads out of the gutter please...the only possible candidate for getting behind the wheel is my local rally ace; Emma Gilmour.
At 27, Emma is starting to come into the peak of her career
She finished third in last years New Zealand National Rally Championship so she certainly isn't afraid of keeping that right foot of hers nailed to the floor...although she did have a big rollover shunt earlier this year. Maybe she should've used that middle pedal, ahh well, have to admire her competitive spirit I guess. The co-driver will be Glen Macneall who is currently doing the job for Emma anyway and we didn't see the point in breaking up that formula.
We've had numerous offers for a pitcrew already. It seems that a lot of guys like the idea of getting hot and dirty while underneath such a glorious rear end...I'm talking about the back of the car of course. But the final selection will be up to photo since, despite being over 10 000 miles away, he is the big cheese (or banana I guess) and will ultimately call all the difficult shots for both sides of the Pacific.
When asked to comment about the merger with SOB, photo had this to say; "In order to create a global organisation, we realised that we can only do that by keeping our options open outside of America. Tez has provided us with an excellent opportunity to do that and I'm sure that Emma will be more than up to the task. The ultimate goal is NASCAR, but there is huge potential to be gained from running the engine package in rally to really test its limits."
LOL
What's your team nickname? "The Sorry SOB's ?"
Looks like photogr already has the most talented pitcrew under contract a GGW. Maybe you could persuade Hottiefoot to switch to SOB. I hear she's pretty quick on her feet.
A suggestion for crew chief: Hire the local speedster.
Fastest guy in racing.
Tez is a rare creature; an Australian who was living in New Zealand before moving to Canada. He's also a Civil Engineer who is hoping to spend his Monday to Friday sitting in front of a computer surfing the inter...uh, working hard for an Engineering Consultant or Contractor when he finds a job. His heart is torn between his two loves; F1 and NASCAR.
Due to his high interest in those, his blogs will likely focus on them with the occasional foray into sports that don't get much (if any) mention on this website. All blogs and/or comments will more than likely have his usual dollop of sarcasm and general Aussie spin on them.
Amazingly, he also managed to score 2 MiB nominations on consecutive days (August 5 & 6, 2007) after announcing he had been keeping track of them...he's considering hiding under his bed as a result.
