I was just wondering what the Texas fans thought about our draft picks. I myself am kind of in limbo with the picks. I do not know much about the players that we picked. I did some research on the first rounder and I am not sure why brown. I know he was probably the best tackle left on the board, but other than that from what I have seen from his tapes at Virginia Tech he gets pushed around way to much.
As for Antwaun Molden I think he will be a great third round grab at the corner possition. We need a corner like it is going out of style.
The Texans will be even more competitive this season. I'm a Jaguars fan and they seem to always play their BEST game of the season against the Jags...(damn I hate that!) I wish they would wear the red jerseys against other teams instead of just the Jaguars.
2003 I had the luxury of getting a ticket to the game while I was stationed in La. (probably the only Jaguar fan in the whole stadium) red, white and blue everywhere! My mom thought I was insane because I went alone! I had on a Fred Taylor jersey and he had a nice game. We had the lead with less than 2 min to go and instead of running out the clock we fumbled away the game! DAMN...
But the drunk Texan fans who sat behind me gave me so much hell throughout the game that they asked me to eat some tailgate leftovers with them. Very nice fans I met that day!
I'm only a Texans fan inasmuch as I am a Broncos fan, and Kubs has earned an eternal soft spot in my heart. As far as the draft goes...
Brown was a case of trying to make the best of a bad choice. No one could have forseen so many tackles flying off the board, so at the time, Houston probably thought they were safe trading back. He's flexible in playing multiple positions, and he's more active, so where he might have problems on a traditional style line, he should work in a zone blocking scheme.
Molden will need time to develop. Don't expect him for much beyond special teams and maybe nickle coverage this year, but he should improve.
Slaton is fast. Who knows how he'll pan out with this style running game?
Adibi isn't fast, but he's smart and he punishes. He's a great value at 4, as some had him ranked as an early 2. Should compliment Houstons' current corp quickly.
Okam, Barber, and Brink are typical late rounders. Gambles, but good ceilings... I think Barber has the best chance at getting any play time though.
All in all, not a terrible draft at all. If guys stay healthy this year, I look for the Texans to make some noise in the toughest NFL division.
Wow. JMac pretty much hit the nails on the head. Took the words right out of my mouth. HAHAHAHAHA.
I am all Texans all the time.
Slaton and Adibi were great #### ups for mid-third round picks. I watched Adibi a little more these last two years at Virginia Tech and the guy was really good. He did seem to have stretches of time where he would dissapear, but overall the guy was almost stellar. Slaton was on the fast track to being a possible First round back but the emergence of the West Virginia back up Running back cut into his reps and hurt his production and draft status.
Wow JMac. You really didn't leave anything for me to decipher. You kind of hogged up all of the action from me. HAHAHA. But, Texaskevin you should have a little more faith in Smith and Kubiak's drafting abilities. If you look at the draft picks from last year all of those guys got considerable playing time from top to bottom. From Okoye, Jacoby Jones, Fred Bennet, Zac Diles, and the offensive lineman that we got whose name escapes me right now. But, you should come around the Texans team page sometime and mix and mingle with the rest of us. We are all usually around in the evenings around 6:30. Im usually there from 6:30-11 at night. Sometimes I even go home and come right back to the team page. I eat sleep and breathe football my friend. I like it even better than sex. And yeah, I think it is something wrong with that too. HAHAHA. Later.
