I couldn’t resist. C’mon… he does look like Santa. Alright, onto the pre-game write-up…Seattle would like to hold onto their lead in the NFC West as they have a one-game lead over the Arizona Cardinals in a division that was wide open heading into the season. Right now, the Rams, who started 0-8, have won two in a row and are playing better football.
The Seahawks are going against conventional wisdom and historical practices in an attempt to win any way possible. Seattle has gone to a runningback by committee, put QB Matt Hasselbeck in the shotgun and have passed first to set up the run.
The Rams are slowly getting some of their injured players back on the field and are refusing to go down without a fight. The running game with Steven Jackson and the passing with QB Marc Bulger are finally looking like everyone thought they would at the beginning of the season. Defensive coach Jim Haslett has his unit playing extremely tight football
As is the case everytime the Rams and Seahawks play, this game will be a difficult task for both involved. The team that does the better job of minimizing mistakes and protects the ball better, will win this game. Both teams are evenly matched on offense and their defenses are strikingly similar.
Rams Keys For Success
1. Run the ball with Steven Jackson. Having Jackson healthy and running the ball changes the Rams’ offense. He is running like a back who’s making up for the missed time while injured. Teams will have to show that they can stop Jackson, or their defense will be on the field all day and the Rams will control the clock. A successful running game also will set up the play-action pass and give QB Marc Bulger more time to throw.
Jackson will pound the middle of the Seahawks’ defense and keep the linebackers and a safety up in the box to give Bulger bigger holes in the passing lanes. The sooner Jackson gets going, the more stress he puts on a defense. The Rams will use Jackson on his straight ahead runs, swing passes and screens, so he can build momentum and allow the offense to dictate the game to the Seahawks.
2. Pressure QB Matt Hasselbeck. Hasselbeck has been asked to carry the Seahawks’ offense until Shaun Alexander can come back and contribute. He will be asked to read the defense and make any necessary adjustments at the line of scrimmage. The Seahawks know that they must pass first and run second. The passing game will consist of short passes to the receivers and backs — around 40-45 times a game.
The Rams will bring pressure and force Hasselbeck to move around and avoid the rush. The Rams have a fast defense, and they bring blitz packages on running and passing plays. The Seahawks have to be successful with quick pass patterns and hot reads for Hasselbeck on every play.
3. Use Multiple Receiver Sets. The Seahawks know that the Rams will run Jackson. The Rams need to come out in their four-receiver set and force the Seahawks to play extra cover corners. Their four-receiver set with one running back allows them to run or pass and keeps some of the better run stoppers off the field. This will give Bulger better matchups at the line of scrimmage.
PREDICTION: The Seahawks offense gift-wraps a victory as the Rams defense takes advantage of 1 tipped ball for an interception to give the Rams great field position and the go ahead score late in the game.
Not a bad prediction. Not bad at all. You realize that one more loss for St. Louis and one more win for Seattle that the Hawks have the division, right? Well, I suppose there is ONE way the Rams could take it. If the Seahawks lose all of the rest of their games, and the Rams win all of the rest of their games, it'll happen. I doubt it, as much as I'd rather see the Rams in the playoffs instead of the Seagulls.
I hope this was a joke. The Rams win two in a row against a horrible team and a highly overrated team and you think you can beat the Seahawks. No way. You are really overrating the talent of the Rams.
Finally got your head out of the sand? Where were you when they were stinking it up? This prediction is coming from the guy that said "this team has the offense to go undefeated!" Hey, how about them Cowboys?
No way that's gonna happen, not this year anyway. The forces of evil and the team that is everything wrong with sports and in fact everything wrong with the world period are winning it all. NE will win even if the "####" Tom (who has ####ed more supermodels by now than Hugh has) admits to tossing Michael Vick's salad. NE beats GB in the Superbowl. The evangelical Colts who represent everything good that has ever existed break the spirit of Mother Theresa's heart watching from heaven when they lose in the first round to Jacksonville. The Rams just barely hold on edging out the Raiders for second worst record in the NFL. America wakes up to the fact that the Pats are great because they have the most talented players and a very good coach. Haven't you noticed that videogate didn't derail them. Indi certainly didn't, and the Rams....no
You know what, I just read this entire thing you wrote (before I read only the "Run the Ball" part) and I am so convinced by this arguement, that I'm switching my pick for the game to the Rams. Keep the good stuff coming! Enjoy the "Border War" tonight! I will! GO MIZZOU! Take care.
Now the rams should rest all the vets this year, Play the rookies and next year have a team that even the back ups can play first string and win it allllllll . Too much to ask to win every game from here on out.
One of the best superbowls in my eyes was the Rams vs Steelers. The Rams didnt have a great record back then, In the playoffs upset Dallas in Dallas and someone else just to get there. still put on a great show. Steelers just had to much talent to over come for 4 qts.
are you sick? the rams havent beat anybody of importance yet. its great that you love your team but lets be real. seahawks are beating teams after they said publicly what they are going to do. matt hasselbeck is passing almost 350+ a game and nobody has stopped it yet. Maurice Morris actually runs the ball better than Alexander. Rams only chance is to run the ball, but lets face it, the Rams aint much better than the 49ers with all their injuries. If they stay healthy next year they may contend but even in the NFC west they have no chance this year.
I might think something of your comment if you made it ten minutes ago. They lost by 3 feet with no line and a back up quaretrback. I think they played a pretty good game for a team that has two wins.
...and let me just add that all of you Rams fans who are crying about injury might want to consider that Seattle's RB was out the whole game, and they are missing several other key players, and yet still beat your sad-sack group of pee-wee wanna-be's TWICE! That's 2 "W"'s to your 2 "L"'s.
seattle has more injured players than the rams so stop with the excuses. seatle is a better team just face it. not our fault bulger got his head rung. sorry maybe we hit to hard for you guys. 49ers had the same problem. not our fault your backup quarterback has a premature ejaculation problem with trying to catch the snap either.
Seattle is a joke in the sports world. How many championships do you have in any and all your sports?
If Seattle somehow holds off Arizona from winning the divison. Seattle will be one and done in the playoffs. They will spend 0 dollars in free agency pick up no one of substance in the draft and finish last in the division next year.
I predict they will have a few bad years the fans will quit showing up to games and they will move to LA or quite possiblt to Oklahoma to be with your former basketball team.
Seattle fans are dickless. I was on your team site talking #### the whole time and not one #### peep. Not one person with any balls said a #### word till the end of the game.
Next time I see a seattle fan I'm going to slap him in the face.
TBIA, I'm a seattle fan so easy with the slap. Anyway...Should STL have won the game, well maybe, but maybe they shouldn't have been in the situation to begin with. They had them right from the get go and couldn't put em away. Almost every time seattle plays STL, they put it to the hawks every game. I don't know if they outcoach the hawks or what, but seattle does not match up good with the rams. Your injury remarks, well, that goes both ways, its kind of hard to play with all cylinders when your whole team hasn't practiced together since week 1, but hey, thats football. It was a good game, and a shame it had to end that way, but hey, its still a W. Seattle has the ability to be a great team they just can't seem to play as a whole team. The NFC is really wide-open, and as injured players return, Seattle will be in the mix, and "can" beat anyone in the NFC. They haven't proven it yet, who knows if they will, but damn, they could be one hell of a threat to any team.

reason nobody was commenting to you cause unlike rams fans we actually go to the games and could care less about blogging when the game is on you computer geek. until you team breaks 500.....oh wait guess you cant do that this year. maybe you can talk to us next year. we will be in the playoff again this year. feel free to watch. its always televised. probably on fox. ill keep you updated
Man, you had most of the details right, just wrong team with the critical turnover. As far as spending money, Seattle throws it around quite a bit - Nate Burleson, Patrick Kearney (how did he feel all over you Bulger?), Julian Peterson, Deion Branch. What did the Rams do? Who Bennett?

Big deal, if Bulger was in they wouldn't have made that mistake at the end. Yeah, TBIAH, apparently, the Hawks fans wait until they have for sure won (more like NOT LOST) the game to talk ####. Oh well, they WILL beat the Falcons this week at E.J. Dome. Take care, man!
