SUMMER LEAGUE BALL OVERATED,HOW DOES MCHALE KEEP HIS JOB
Jul 19, 2008 | 8:40AM | report this

I'm reading about some of these players who participated in summer league play and now I'm asking myself, why, most of these rookies and journey men are going to flame out ,once the real season starts. Every year you have 5 or six rookies that play well the other 50 wet there pants because the competition is so fantastic, nothing they ever seen at the AAU tournament,or even the NCAA tournament, Bayless scoring at will ,in a summer league game , well he SHOULD BE BLOWING UP against NBA scrubs,d-league players, rappers, didn't R.Kelly play in a summer league back in the day I know he played in one of them summer leagues,  ,this isn't really news ,there are players in every city ,in the parks who can compete in the summer league ,it isn't a diss,it's the truth.Harold Minor ,Walter Berry ,Ed O Bannon were good players in the summer leagues. Now the story  is when a player can't handle the summer league and he's a top pick THATS NEWS.O.J. Mayo having a good week ,well he looks like he's going to be a decent pro he been going pro since 7th grade, but can't judge him going against Joe Dleaguer, lets see how he guards Iverson,or CP3 ,thats Chris Paul for those out there who don't know who I'm talking about.

I didn't allow myself to finish the articles because reading about Kevin Love looking great in summer league games, just doesn't do much for me,I''LL wait for him to compete against the  Duncans of the worlds, then if he holds up well then ILL  be  impressed,he should   dominate journey men and marginal players, now MCHALE  is happy and rightfully so,it's his neck on the line ,then again not really he has become the Eligin Baylor of GMS.You know the guy who stinks it up every year but keeps his job anyway ,we know guys like that working at the post office, welfare office, corporate America, you ask your self how does he stay employed he stinks.MCHALE  couldn't figure out how to get over the hump with Kevin Garnet in tow,he kept drafting bums and making terrible trades ,but he still makes 7 figures and lets not forget the Joe Smith debacle that cost the organization draft picks and fines.By the way couldn't he see Joe Smith was going to be nothing more than average i saw that in his one year in college.Him drooling over Joe Smith, that was funny, then he got suckered by his buddy and teammate  Danny Ainge, some players aren't good gms,ala Mike Jordan,Paxson in Chicago,Zeke, and I'm waiting on Kerr in Phoenix

Why is AVERY jOHNSON still unemployed?

Derek Rose or Michael Beasley with the first pick.... Tyson what are you waiting for.Derrick Caracter,KIDD is not the answer
Apr 14, 2008 | 4:58PM | report this

Every year at this time elite college basketball players make a decision that will change there life forever, the decision I'm talking about to turn pro early or  stay in school, well the object of college is to go to school so you can get a good job well playing in the NBA is a great job. Most of the time if your a first round pick you can make 7 figures with 2 years of guaranteed money. The problem with freshman leaving so early ,it destroys some programs and hurts some coaches chances of getting that fat raise because there record is going to suffer a little bit because that star is gone.College coaches talking about a  age limit and a player should do at least three years is only being selfish, coaches leave early all the time ,this is the lifespan of good college players 1 good year and there gone.   Tyson Hansborough what are you waiting for ,your stock is never going to be higher, and after destroying mediocre big men in college its time to get that great job,you won every award possible you have nothing else to prove on the college level. Derrick Caracter what are you thinking, you stunk it up in college and your rap sheet is a mile long, don't be surprised if you don't get drafted at  all, then again you have first round talent and someone might draft you but you have done nothing on the college level besides get in trouble.Derrick you have been nothing but trouble since you were in highschool .

So who is the first pick Rose or Beasley,if i was drafting   and had a choice im taking Rose, Rose will make everyone else on the floor better and his jumper will get better with work,he has good size and quickness.Beasley is a great player but the point guard is like a qb in football its vital to a teams success .

Jason Kidd its not your fault your a great player, but you will never get a team over the hump, something happens when you arrive to a team you win games but your team falls short, maybe its bad luck or bad karma, but Dallas is worst off now, because they gave away young players and you have maybe 2 years left at best .The Lakers are getting better, Boston is strong, the Suns are getting better ,Detroit is steady and Hornets with Bryon Scott at the helm with a young great point guard Chris Paul is on the rise.Maybe you can asked to be traded to the Lakers next year.

I 'M JUST ASKING........WHAT IS GOING ON HERE,Shaq,Grant,Knight
Feb 06, 2008 | 9:38AM | report this

Shaq to the Suns, what are they thinking adding the Deisel,on the other hand great move for the Heat they get to unload a player who is owed some 40 million dollars on his contract ,who is constantly hurt, and wont be able to play more than 2 weeks straight without pulling up lame with some ailment.Plus the Suns run and THE Diesel is low on fuel,he will be a no show on the offensive end and be a liability against a young athletic center. On the other hand the Heat is obvious rebuilding, and Shawn Marion is all star caliber player ,Marcus Banks has underachieved so far but there is time for him to grow, we know about Wade.THis is a great move for them. There going to add a player or two in the draft so look for the Heat to rebound next year or 2010.This is a robbery by Miami, now if they can lock up Marion once he opts out  this is a win win for Miami.

Charles Grant you would think getting stabbed in the neck, over the weekend ,would be enough for you to blab to the authorities about who ACTUALLY STABBED YOU,also a young lady was killed, forget the street cred,no snitching rule ,go tell the cops what you know, this is nonsense.

BOB Knight see you later, this guy was a great coach, but he was one of the biggest bullies that ever coached college basketball, this guy was always looking for a fight,he even tried punking off the media for years, I will shed no tears over him resigning,he was loved by few and hated by many.Plus 42 years coaching and 3 National Titles, thats not so impressive ,if you think about the talent that he had at Indiana, over his tenure as coach

Still can't believe Isaiah Thomas is still the Knicks coach, well Elgin Baylor,Kevin Mchale, they have been  GMs for years so being mediocre must be in style.

IS EVERYONE CHEATING? and the WAYWARD
Sep 15, 2007 | 6:36AM | report this

Is everyone cheating, my man  Belichick finally got caught, now he was rumored to be cheating for years but with the ex comissioner he would let these things slide ,now under Goodell such things wont be  tolerated, now the Patriots were fined a pittance and the draft picks that will be taking away will hurt a little bit but Belichick and the Pats will be fine

Even in nascar the Mclaren team was fined 100 million for there rolling in a spying scandal, and in baseball take your pick, Ankiel,Mathews Jr,Dukes, there so much cheating going on in baseball they have what 2 or three commisions investigating,in wrestling every other week someone is drying before the age of 45 ,even in the world of mixed marshall arts, they joined the party and you have big names flunking drug test.

Tim Couch who really cares, you stunk from day one so,whatever, now the wayward Ricky Williams is attempting to be reinstated,if he's reinstated who is gonna take a chance on a addict.Even with the glowing remarks from his agent ,Ricky Williams doesnt belong in the NFL, he belongs in the woods teaching a class of 5 Yoga smoking trees, and when some team signs Tank Johnson and stands at the podium and he said he found jesusa better person, those chuckles you hear will be rightfully deserved. You have ole geezers like the juice acting like he's a cop ,plannng memoribilia stings like hes some king of  Fbi agent.Todd Marinivich ,in the news for violating is probation,he was picked up while riding his skateboard ,someone tell him he is a little old to be riding a skateboard at 37 in the daytime ,hey Todd maybe if you get a job you wont have so much time in your hands to smoke dope.

The modern day athlete is a reflection of a society  that has gone terribly  mad,the thing is we teach our kids that winning is the greatest thing in the world,so our kids are growing up to do whatever to win. Some parents are the problem.

WHAT'S UP WITH THE OLD GUYS?
Aug 04, 2007 | 3:04PM | report this

Is the caliber of the NBA player that bad ,that old guys like Scottie Pippen,Charles Oakley,Roy Tarpley, and numerous others out there who are well past 40 and schooling people at the local recreation center, tinkering with the idea of a comeback. They always say  athletes aren't the smartest  people in the world, but just because your dominating fatty four eyes, or the computer geek on Wed.night in front of a  capacity crowd of 5,doesn't mean your ready for  Shaq,or even Channing Frye. Now Tarpley is looking to get his good name back, but his name hasn't been good since his days of Michigan.

Last time i checked about the whereabouts of  Charles Oakley he ,was in New York happily running his car wash empire. Now there are players in there 40's playing professional sports most of them are on the diamond  and most of them are pitchers. You also got Evander Holyfield still fighting and he's going to fight for a belt in the fall.Boxers, never know when to give it ,and the blows to the head, leave them to the point where they can't think rational, The NBA is totally different  for starters you run all day ,you have to be in great shape ,and after time your skill set erodes.Your body takes longer to recover  once in your 40's,playing back to back nighters ,is hard for yougans so how in the world is it going to be easier  for guys in there 40's .NOW IF YOUR ONLY MOTIVATION IS GETTING A CHECK,then thats different, but if a rock hard Karl Malone gave it up at 40 ,and it looked like he could play forever, then I'm NOT SO SURE about Pippen and Oakley making successful comebacks. Are the players that bad ,now I watched more NBA basketball in the 80, and 90s than I do now and the product isn't as good in my opinion ,BUT IS IT THAT BAD, when guys like Tarpley wants reinstatement,Oakley says he 's ready for 20 minutes a night, and Scottie can't make up his mind, one way or the other. Next thing you know Micheal Ray Richardson is gonna suit up,but first he needs to shut up with the stupid comments.

Hey if your that bored fellas, there 's alot of poor kids in America  that need food, mentors ,and yes adequate school books,VOLUNTEER YOUR TIME  AND MAKE IT HAPPEN  and remember tuesday nights on TNT are totally different than Wed.nights at the Rec.

Now CHINA IS RUNNING THE NBA,MILWAUKEE BUCKS DON'T BUDGE
Jul 18, 2007 | 10:20AM | report this

THE LAST time i checked  David Stern was the commissioner of the NBA, the situation with Yi ,is pretty much standard with some of todays disgruntled draft picks,Steve Francis pulled this when he was drafted and some other players Bo Jackson just to name a two,,but Milwaukee hold firm and let him play in China if he wants,he's a project at best right now it's not like you drafted Greg Oden or Yao Ming,.

IF you fold and trade him every  good player from China might try to pull this mess, and it's not YI its his country and reps. This is about money and marketing ,and nothing more, do you think Yi people would be happy in Memphis NO,,I doubt it,i would let him sit all year and at the very last minute before I lose him i would unload him for a truck load of picks  or players.Or just let him sit,

The #### about his development ,don't you get better playing in practice against other  7 footers who are the best players in the world. If he's a good player he'll play and develop, but don't  try to insult the my intelligence and others.

Is it time for the Lakers to Trade Kobe Bryant?
May 28, 2007 | 4:09AM | report this

I F JERRY WEST DECIDES NOT TO COME BACK TO THE LAKERS SHOULD THE LAKERS TRADE KOBE?

Either way the Lakers are going to struggle next year with Jerry West or not.Bryants trade value will never be greater than what it is now.So maybe it makes sense to see what they can get for him.

Someone should remind Kobe he 's partly the blame for the Lakers  struggles ,he is the one who wanted to be the man,he wanted Shaq gone, and we have seen how that has turned out.

HOLD ON TO ALL THE JORDAN TALK
May 19, 2007 | 3:46AM | report this

I read a very interesting blog on here about Michael Jordan being the greatest hoops player of all time, the blogger weighed the pros and cons and made comparisons to other player who played in different time periods.

There is a man who wore  goggles and played 20 years in the NBA who is rarely mentioned as the greatest player the slouchs name is Karreem ABDUL Jabbar .ALL this man did over 20 years in the league is become the all time leading scorer win at least 5 championships or 6 he won one in Milwaukee has a young lad and of course he teamed up with a young stud named tricks or no no Magic thats his name Magic Johnson.

Kareem was so automatic that Everyone ,I mean everyone over looks him and took him for granted.H e was good for 40 minutes 25 points and 10 boards every night .Now naysayers will say Magic had alot to with Karreems success ,and it's true but remember Kareem was great way before Magic arrived in L.A. If Abdul didn't have Magic ,Abdul would of  went on to probably score more than 38k points because he would of been a bigger focus on the offense. It's strange there is scant mention of Abdul, and let me continue........

The bloggers give horse racing more respect than Kareem and I don't understand ,Jordan was great but he was not great for twenty years and he doesn't have more MVPs or points or rebounds than Kareem so how is he the greatest of all time.Maybe the reason people feel this way is because Kareem  was all business and boring, while Jordan was dramatic and had a flair but look at the numbers ,mvps, and championships and blocks and Kareem is probably the best single player in the history of the game.

Once again the age of the net and cable tv .made Jordan some b ball god and he is but greatest I don't know i like Wilt and Kareem better. If you go by numbers Jabbar alone there is discussion

THIS IS MY TOP FIVE

KAREEM,WILT,JORDAN,OSCAR ,KMALONE

CURT i Thought you were different....SCHILLING
May 09, 2007 | 4:43PM | report this

Curt ,I thought you would stand by your words about Bonds ,now I read that you were tired and you didn't know what you were saying.B.S

Curt , it's alright if you don't like Bonds, you have a right to say whatever you want you didn't yell fire in a crowded room ,you said the bozo Bonds didn't deserve to have the record and some other things.

WHY are you apoligizing, this is America Curt, Man up and stick to your convictions, now I look at you as a politicion,a man who is yellow ,just like Tim Hardaway, today everyone wants to be politically correct, there use to be a time when people voiced there opinions and didn't care what people thought ,people would be upset but they got over it.These people were admired for being passionate about a cause or there convictions.

BONDS IS A BOZO WHO DOESN'T WANT TO BE BOTHERED WITH FANS ,TEAMMATES ,COACHES but Bonds isn't a politicion

Im disappointed in you Curt, maybe you should run for president.

So More Fouls Are Called Against Black Players Than Whites
May 02, 2007 | 4:41AM | report this

IF league is 85 percent black ,wouldn't this be obvious, I don't care how you break this down and I don't care who did the study ,this doesn't prove there is bias   involved. II watch plenty of basketball games and I see no blatant attempts by the refs targeting black players, except for the Tim Duncan situation a few weeks ago ,and that happened because of the whining done by Duncan, and him attempting to show up the ref. Most of the time the refs do a great job and even though some calls are suspect I see no ill will towards black players most of the time the refs get it right and once again the court is just about all black,so i don't see it.The bottom line a foul is committed and the refs get it right.I know studies were done, and they have charts and other methods they use Im just not buying it.

Im the first one to scream injustice when it's obvious, but this isn't the case.

Did Mark Cuban have anything to do with this because he is the biggest crybaby ,when it comes to wrong doings by referees,

MAN UP,IM TIRED OF PLAYERS LYING ABOUT THERE FEELINGS ABOUT GAYS IN THE LOCKER ROOM
Feb 15, 2007 | 6:37PM | report this

IM NOT DOWN WITH THE WHOLE #### THING MAN OR WOMAN.TO EACH HIS OWN BUT IM NOT DOWN WITH IT,I BELIEVE MAN SHOULD DEAL WITH WOMAN AND VICE VERSA

THESE ATHLETES NEED TO MAN UP AND MEAN WHAT THEY SAY AND SAY WHAT THEY MEAN IF YOUR NOT COMFTORABLE WITH THE WHOLE #### THING THEN SAY IT AND MOVE ON

Tim Hardaway said he hates ####s , harsh statement but stick by it,and take the abuse at least your being true to yourself.Right after he said it a few hours later he's apoligizing and saying sorry.

Lebron James  changed his statements too,the problem is these guys don't want nothing  interfering with there wallet so they take back statements when they know good and well there not comfy with the homosexual issue .Straight men don't play with ####s ,they for the most part don't want to be bothered with them point blank on the basketball  or any other court.

Then you have guys like David Stern smiling and saying all the right things ,he's only protecting the interest of the N.B.A and he should, but he won't really let you know how he feels. If Mr.Stern is a church going man how can he be down with ####s in the locker room and ####s period.

My thing is we  have too many politicions in sports,at least John Rocker stuck by most the things he said, and he's a racist but i respect him for being himself.

Zeke Thomas saying he doesnt have any problems with ####s in the locker room and as teammates he's one of the biggest politicions of them all once again if your church going how can you be so giddy over a man dealing with another man.

Do you think a hardliner like Jerry Sloan  approves of two men having relations but he wont say too much on the subject .The #### mafia is strong very strong.

a CHAMPIONSHIP AND NOTHING LESS FROM THE SUNS
Jan 27, 2007 | 11:56AM | report this

How in the world do you have 2 plus 14 game winning streaks in the first 45 games of a season .Im sure it happened before ,but the suns are playing awesome basketball so if they fail to win the  championship ,there season is  failure. If they don't win it  this year then they will never win it. Steve Nash is my M.V.P, all he does is put up Tiny Archibald numbers, and manages a game not seen since Magic Johnson

So fire the coach if they don't win it this year, unless there hit with injuries.

Teams can't keep up with them but the key is to have everyone healthy come playoff  time and get home court advantage. As i watch them they never look like there going to lose they don't hardly ever trail ,and if they trail it's by 3 or 4 points no insurmountable amounts then 7 players chip in on offensive and they out score you so defense is optional.

Steve Nash is consistently good every night 18  points 12 assists games are almost the norm. Amare comes to play  every night then you have Shawm Marion .

Then again it's early,BUT

OVER RATED NewYork City Point Guards,None of them Changed The Game,
Jan 10, 2007 | 4:44PM | report this

Every few years New York city produces a prodigy point guard  and by the time there in 9th grade there anointed the next  whoever, and for the next 4 years until they go to college there already a first round pick because of potential and hype.

True some of the prodigies had long successful careers but none of them changed the game.Lets go back to 80'S when a point guard by the name of Pearl Washington  entered Syracuse,he was fabulous in College and horrible in the league for the Nets and Heat.

In the 90's you had Kenny Smith  who was solid in the Pros ,but not great,Mark Jackson was a very good point guard  but not great not ,Kenny Anderson was solid but nothing special on the pro level yes he did have a wrist injury that slowed him down ,but he didnt live up to the hype,Rod Strickland solid but not great.

Now we have Marbury, and his cousin Sebastion Telfair once again Marbury can score points but he isnt a special player,Telfair is all hype. Then you had players who believed the hype and left school way to early,Omar Cook remember him,Kareem Reid,God Shammagod ,even Shaheen Holloway although he stayed four years in college.

All prodigies who were projected saviors comming out of highschool but who turned out to be solid or busts. Then again its us who look for the next hot thing, look at soccer prodigy,Freddy Adu traded once and the jury still out on him.Michelle Wie is another child prodigy.

Can we hold off on calling some one the next so and so until they at least put 3 years in on the professional level.
