Fantasy Hockey Predictions
Oct 07, 2008 | 7:40AM | report this

Hockey season is upon us and it's time to make some predictions.WHO WILL BE FANTASY MVP? WHO WILL BE THE BIGGEST BUST? WHO WILL BE THE BREAKOUT STAR? WHICH VETERAN WILL HAVE A CAREER YEAR? Those picks plus many more.

WHO WILL BE FANTASY MVP?

Alexander Ovechkin: Certainly not going out on a limb here.

Henrik Zetterberg: has all the tools and a great team to play on.

Sidney Crosby: can’t leave him off a list like this.

WHO WILL BE THE BIGGEST FANTASY BUST?

Ilya Kovalchuk: Not much talent around him.

Sean Avery:  will anyone care about his antics in Dallas?

Nathan Horton: see Kovalchuk.

AGING VET WHO WILL PUT TOGETHER A CAREER YEAR?

Miroslav Satan: I could have a career year playing with Crosby.

Nikolai Zherdev:  have a good feeling about him on Broadway.

Shane Doan: having Olli Jokinen center for him will certainly help out.

PRODUCTIVE AGING VET WHO WILL FINALLY DROP OFF?

Paul Kariya: Might have been the winner last season as well.

Rod Brind'Amour: only because of age and injuries.

Patrick Elias:  seems to have lost a step.

BREAKOUT YOUNGSTER?

Carey Price: He is that good.

Peter Mueller:  don’t look now, but they are building something in the desert.

Anze Kopitar:  if he played on a better team, you would’ve heard about him last season.

YOUNGSTER WHO WILL BUST?

Steven Stamkos: Would love to have his future, but too much pressure for this season.

Andrew Cogliano:  not sure if he can stay healthy for an entire season.

Kyle Turris:  not sold on him at all.

OUT OF NOWHERE SLEEPER (VET OR YOUNGSTER)?

Mathieu Garon: Solid goalie who should be the starter on a better team than people think.

Brandon Dubinsky:  really like this kid, will center the second line, moving Chris Drury to wing.

Alex Hemsky: with a proven goal scorer on his line, we may finally see his full potential.

BLUELINER WHO WILL HAVE THE BEST FANTASY SEASON?

Nicklas Lidstrom: Loaded team, and he's just a great player.

Dion Phaneuf:  once Lidstrom retires, it may be his turn to own the Norris Trophy.

Chris Pronger:  What can’t he do?
