One morning, Vernon Davis, Frank Gore and JT O'Sullivan went fishing in the woods at Coach Nolan's cabin. Coach Nolan watched his three offensive players from the kitchen window as they disappeared into the trees. Later that day, the coach began to become worried, for his players were not back and he hadn't heard word from them since they left, and dinner had been ready hours ago.
After another hour of waiting, Coach Nolan decided to go out and look for them. By now it was already almost completely dark. He ran through the woods calling out their names. The coach got no replies. It was some time before he came to a stream. There, lying in the banks of the stream were the bodies of JT O'Sullivan and Vernon Davis, both with contorted backs. It was obvious that they had been murdered. But where was Frank Gore, the 49ers only good offensive threat?
After a long time of frustration, pondering, and mourning, Coach Nolan decided to head back to the cabin, for now he realized, the person who killed his players was still out there in the woods. Frightened out of his wits, he ran frantically through the woods until he reached his cabin. Nolan went to his next door neighbor's house and told him what had happened, but swore him to secrecy, because he didn't want the media or the 49er owners to know about this tragic event just yet. To avoid the press, the next day, Nolan's neighbor helped him smuggle the bodies out of the stream and hide them in a shed, right by the coaches cabin.
Coach Nolan was still in search Frank Gore, however. He had searched the woods the entire morning and found no trace of him. His hopes were that he Gore found shelter and would return to the cabin when he knew it was safe. Nolan had been trying to figure out how he was going to explain to the police and the 49er owners what had happened. Nolan worried that this for sure would cost him his coaching career, as he was already on the chopping block. When he was finished fretting, his neighbor offered to go back to the cabin and retrieve two blankets to wrap the bodies in. The coach told him to get the one off of his bed. Nolan's neighbor went inside.
Nearly three quarters of an hour passed by and the neighbor had still not returned. The coach decided to go back to see that his neighbor was okay. He went up the stairs and was horrified at the sight in his bedroom. He screamed, for there on his bed, near the open window, was the contorted body of Frank Gore. Coach Nolan's neighbor, Julian Peterson was nowhere in sight.
