NFC WEST PREDICTIONS
Jul 01, 2008 | 10:22PM | report this

Well, against my better judgement, I have decided to throw my Tarot Cards into the NFL fortunetelling game. Many people base their season predictions on personal opinion, last season stats, schedule, offseason acquisitions and/or draft picks. That's all fine and dandy, but I have created a formula that is correct 138% of the time.

math equations. Yep, i understand them too.

I have input the following variables into my equation.

-Last seasons stats

-Probibility of my "Magic 8 Ball" answers

-Last seasons schedule

-Consultations from Mediums

-This seasons schedule

-Crowd noise(artificial and real)

-Offseason moves and draft signings

-QB mustaches

-Average age of each roster

-Average beer consumed per stadium

-Playoff experience

-Previous Super Bowl victories (Because we all know that no matter how long ago your team won a Super Bowl, whether it's 9 or 15 years ago, you automatically get an advantage over a team who hasn't been to or won a Super Bowl.)

-Travel Distances(Which this variable only supports the Seahawks home games. Not because the distance between New York City to Seattle is only 40 miles more than New York City to San Diego, but the fact everyone in the Atlantic Time Zone believes Seattle is in Alaska.)

-Finally I used MLB sabermetric measurements in a complex NFL format.

AND MY PICK'S ARE......

Sorry, but my superstition forbid's me from making season predictions. But to all those 49er, Ram and Cardinal fans, the road to the NFC West Title takes you through the Emerald City.

Emerald City

NO

NOT THAT

EMERALD CITY

THIS

EMERALD CITY

12th man

And sorry folks, the 12th Man took the Wizard(Just some dude behind a curtain) and sent him on a permanent vacation. So tap your ruby slipper's all you want and say, "We will win the NFC West". But there's no hot-air balloon to take you to the title here. Good luck though!

GENERAL TATUPU

The Seattle Seahawks signed linebacker Lofa Tatupu to a six-year contract extension. The deal ties up Tatupu through the 2015 season, including the last two years of his current contract. The deal is worth $42 million, with almost $18 million in guarantees. The 25-year-old, entering his fourth season out of USC, will make $27 million in the first three years. “I love it up here,” Tatupu told the Seattle Post-Intelligencer. “I couldn’t picture myself in any other uniform, and now I don’t have to.” The 6-foot, 238-pound Tatupu recorded 109 tackles, one sack and four interceptions in 16 games for Seattle last season. He also became just the second player in team history to be named to the Pro Bowl in his first three seasons in the league.

12th Man

As fans of the Seattle Seahawks, we are enduring the test of patience for the "Vince Lombardi Trophy". In the mean time, we in Seattle have created one of the most feared home fields in the NFL. From the Kingdome to Qwest field being hailed as the loudest stadiums in the NFL, to our eccentric fan base. Seahawk fans have become some of the most recognized and hated people in sports.

Seahawks 3

As a tribute to the raucous fans that made the Kingdome the loudest stadium in the NFL, the Seahawks retired the number 12 on December 15th,1984. Since then #12 Jerseys have been sold by the team and worn by Seahawk fans, often with the name "Fan" on the back. In the 2005 season the fans were again making a difference in games and were recognized with the presentation of a special game ball for their efforts in a game against the New York Giants, a game in which the Giants committed 11 false start penalties in large part because of the crowd noise.

In 2003, the 12th MAN was honored once again, this time with a flag.  The tradition of the 12th MAN flag began October 12, 2003, when 12 original season ticket holders hoisted the flag prior to kickoff.

Now, at every home game just before kickoff, the flag is raised in honor of the 12th MAN. From former Seahawks greats, to local celebrities and sports personalities, being called upon to raise the flag has become an honor within itself.

The flag has become a symbol of Seahawks supporters all over the World, raising the spirit of the 12th MAN.

So a Super Bowl ring may have eluded us, as many people like to remind us fans of the Seahawks. The 12th Man in Seattle has remained by the side of the Seahawks despite the constant reminders. We have become louder and louder. We have also been accused of piping in crowd noise. Sorry, it's just the craziest and loudest fans around.
