****PEAFOWL UPDATE*****

I just heard from a reliable source that Rhonda is out of surgery and doing well, although in a lot of pain. She wants everyone to know she appreciates our thoughts and will be with us soon as she's able.

Good Morning my fine feathered friends!

Today is the day the lovely Pea goes in for her surgury. Everyone make sure to say a special prayer or thought or whatever you may believe for our friend.  We all know she's tough as nails and will probably be kickin ####and taking names but a few more good thoughts wont hurt either!

I've been amazed and touched by how our little community has gathered around with love and suppport for one of our own. It's truly a blessing to be surrounded by all of you. NASCAR folks are truly wonderful people.

When Pea first let us all know what was happening I was in shock. When I recovered, I decided immediately to send her a care package of sorts to help cheer her up. But as always, I didn't feel like this was enough. But what could I do??

It came to me yesterday that I should contact Jimmie Johnson's people and see if they would do anything for our dear Pea. But how?? God knows I'm not a JJ fan so I have no clue.

So off to the trusty land of Google I go.....type in Jimmie Johnson.....

My computer stumbled a little, surprised and shocked that I would do such a thing, but momentarily a list of sites appeared. Ok...surely the guy has his own website deal.

First click....Lowesracing.com. I comb the site, sweat popping out on my brow, chills racing up and down my spine.......

No place to send emails, a snail mail address but that wont do me any good. Back to Google. Next stop, the 48 team pages at HMS.com. Gulp.

Through the site I go. No where to email here either...except....I can join the HMS fan club...for free even. Brain Cramp.

Could I do it???? Hives were breaking out on my skin. Cold sweat turned to unbearable heat. My mouse inched closer to the "OK" button.  For my lovely friend Pea I would do what I needed to do. "Dont be such a pansy-a**" I told myself....

Suddenly my brain kicked back in. Go back to Google one more time. Surely there is another way....

Onto the Jimmie Johnson Foundation site I clicked. Oh look...a place to send feedback comments and questions. Perfect. I filled out the little form with my contact info etc and wrote them a letter. I told them about Rhonda and how we needed to keep her around for a long time as her and I needed to argue about our drivers some more. I asked if they could reach out to her in some small way, never expecting to hear anything back. The volume of letters they must get in a day would be overwhelming, but hey, why not give it a try??

I heard back from them only a few hours later. Missy, the foundation co-ordinator emailed me back. She wanted me to tell Rhonda that all of them were pulling for her and she was in their thoughts and prayers as well. They will also be sending her some autographed Jimmie Johnson stuff in the mail.

More than I ever expected. I was in tears. How amazing should yet another arm of the NASCAR community be so readily willing to reach out and touch another. I am not a Jimmie fan. (Yes I sound like a broken record..lol). But I have become instantly a fan of the JJ Foundation. In what other sport would this happen? A lowly peon sends an email on a public website, and is answered in hours with support and generosity? Exactly. Our NASCAR community, in all of it's incarnations is amazing. I love it!!

Now I hope Rhonda forgives me for giving out her address without her permisson!! LOL

My grandma was Irish, and the blood flows green in my veins, so an Irish Blessing for my friend....

May the road rise up to meet you, may the wind be ever at your back.

May the sun shine warm upon your face and the rain fall softly on your fields.

And until we meet again, May God hold you in the hollow of his hand.
