Helloooooo my friends! As you may or may not have noticed I've been rather neglectful in my blogging duties lately. I'm so sorry about that and I do miss you all!!
I will still be scarce around here for the next little while though I am afraid.
As some of you know, I have been waiting for word from my head office about a job, and if that job came through I would be moving accross the country.
Well last week the word came down from above. They want me at Head Office, and I am to be there for August 1st. YIKES.
Suddenly I am going to be moving about 3000 miles from my little Alberta city to the concrete jungle of Toronto! Talk about culture shock!! But it's a direction I want to go and I've worked hard for this.
So now I'm busy sorting my ####, packing, deciding what to take, what to store at Mom and Dad's and what to just chuck into the nearest dumpster. I'm co-ordinating with the movers and making sure they dont charge me 4 arms and 6 legs and get my stuff there sometime before winter. I'm doing virtual apartment tours and trying to find a place to live that's not a dump or a box on the street.
Add that to the fact that my boss is pouting, whining and making my life miserable at work because I'm deserting him and as we all know its "ALL ABOUT HIM". No wonder I've worked so hard to get away from the prig.
Needless to say, my time is short at the moment for anything extracurricular. I do manage to watch the races. Felt awful for Tony this weekend :( and I tried to find the GGW race on friday but couldnt so I got a DNF :(. I'll try to pop in for a quickie on GGW race days if I can, but dont worry if I dont. I dont want to give up my car as after Aug 1, I'll be back in the swing of things.
Hope all of you are doing well and enjoying summer!!
See ya in Toronto. Edward Jones Canadian Head Office, here I come!! Next stop St. Louis!! LOLOLOLOL.
It's been an interesting week or so in the NASCAR world. I just can't resist putting my 2 cents worth in!
1. First off big BIG congrats go out to Jr and the 88 AMP/National Guard team. It was great to finally see them get to Victory Lane, and I was screamin just as loud as any Jr Nation fan for him to make it.
Yay for Jokers for getting his hoodoo/voodoo jinx working. I see the jinx is already on for this weekend. Go Jamie Mac!! LOL. And I'm sure that Kristen is doing her own happy hippy shake even though her Kurt didnt have the best of days. Her Jr did!! You go girl!!
2. I was so excited to see Joey Logano win in Kentucky on Saturday. The kid is amazing
and I can not wait to see what he has in store for NASCAR in the next few years. More history in the making for us all to sit back, watch and enjoy!! I read on a blog somewhere, shortly after that race, that Joey wouldn't have won if he wasnt in the JGR 20 car. They intimated that the team cheats and NASCAR turns a blind eye. The whole toyo hosepower advantage came in to play as well. Now it is my humble opinion but that is a load of crapola. I dont know about the hosepower thing personally, but I do know that regardless of your horsepower you need a driver who can DRIVE THE CAR. He's got to be good enough to get that car to the front and to keep it there. It's not going to matter a hot damn how much hp you have if the guy's not good enough to drive the car!! If he's up front, the other 40 some guys arent just going to sit there and say "oh well this is cool, I'll just finish 2nd or 3rd or whatever...that yellow stripe is so cute to look at". Sheesh.
3. "The Lawsuit" I have refrained from commenting about this on any of the blogs that have come up. Some of them were truly not worth commenting on and they pretty much proved Ms Grant's case for her. I dont think that we are ever going to know what the truth is. It will be settled out of court I am sure and hushed right up, for obvious reasons. We, the general public, are never going to know a thing other than what is hand-fed to reporters by lawyers on both sides. I think that if only a third of what this woman is claiming is true, then something needs to be done about the people involved. Yet I cannot believe the amount of money she is asking for. It's not like she was injured on the job, lost a body part, and is now incapable of ever working again and will have huge medical bills her whole life. She's asking for more than she'd make in 20 lifetimes working at NASCAR. The only people who are going to end up happy are the lawyers. Also, why would she stay in a job that was so incredibly horrible as to be worth 225 million?? You cant claim 'battered wife syndrome' as she claims to have kept a diary of times, places, and people, so she knew what was happening. It all seems kind of fishy to me. Yet at the same time, like I said, if even part of it is true....
Its a sad and confusing issue to be sure. I'm sure none of us will be satified, whatever the outcome.
4. You Will Respect My Authority!! So Mr. Mike told the boys to shut up and like it, although NASCAR is claiming they had a meeting to make sure that everyone had us fans' best interests at heart. Funny that the drivers didnt get the memo after they left the meeting. Seems NASCAR wants all their little 'robots' to smile and wave nicely for the camera and not say another word about the new car et al. They've got it good...and he can change that. I loved the comment that Hanny had on his blog from Tony Stewart...leave it to Smoke to tell them to shove their posturing where the sun dont shine! Thanks for that Hanny! NASCAR wants to get back to it's roots. What a joke. I like that NASCAR has become more popular. I think that is a good thing. But I hate the 'tow the line' mentality that is being decreed from the powers that be. Let the guys drive. Let them be themselves. NASCAR isnt a sport for the faint of heart, there's gonna be a little cursin once in awhile, there's going to be anger, and aggression. Yet there's going to be a great sense of communtiy and family and generosity. It all evens out. You dont need a line of robot choir boys to show the greatness in NASCAR. If you leave out the aggression etc, you might as well have 43 cars out there that run about 90 mph around the track and all finish in the exact same position as they started. Sounds fun doesnt it?
I was in a reading kinda mood tonight so I got hopping around Blogville and dug into some of y'alls archived posts. One post I read has really stuck in my mind and it got me to thinking. It was Kristen's blog where she was telling about her experiences in the garage with "the boys" for the last 3 races of the 2007 season. She was talking about how all the drivers respond to the media and the fans during race weekends. Now while a lot of great points were made by many, that is not actually the topic I want to touch upon.
She told us about many drivers but it was what she said about Jeff Gordon that really triggered something. She said how he was very personable, made the time to talk to all the media, not just the big name network people etc. She said he was great, and that he did his interview without the shades, and looked her in the eye when he talked to her. To me what she was basically saying was that he was a definate class act. I had to ponder that for a bit, not that I am saying he isnt a class act, it just got the wheels turning.
Here we are in 2008. All kinds of things are going on in the NASCAR world. The sport is enjoying popularity beyond belief. There was a time in the not so distant past that should you stop 5 people on the street, 4 of them wouldnt have a clue when you asked them what NASCAR was. They may however recognize names. If you threw the words Dale Earnhardt or Richard Petty out there 2 or maybe now 3 of them would say "hey yeah, arent they like those car racer guys??".
That still holds true in some places but more of those 5 people are going to know what our sport is and now a couple of them might even be fans. Names have changed, but throw out Dale Earnhardt Jr or Jeff Gordon and that same response about car racing guys holds up.
I realized tonight that I've been in a kind of time warp. It's been kind of fun here but I had one of those 'a ha' moments that make it never quite the same again. I still think of Jeff Gordon as this guy....
That brash young kid who burst on to the scene in the '90's and took NASCAR by storm....
So in my poor little mind I'm still thinking of him as that new young gun, winning championships and races yes, but still the new guy..lol. But he's not. I blinked, and now he's the 'veteran'. He's the one that the new kids all want to be. He's who they look up to and who they go to for advice. They pick his brain hoping that some of his experience and knowledge rubs off.
He's the leader now. A four time champ, a record holder. He's a mentor now, the veteran face and voice of NASCAR. He's a dad and a husband and a leader. And he's acting like it. I have a new respect for JG. All eyes in the garage are on him and he's leading by example. I'm not talking on the track, I'm talking off of it. Kudos to him for giving Kristen and her fellow media peeps his time and full attention. If that is not leading by example and doing it well, I dont know what is. I dont know how I could have blinked and missed this.
I thought this pic was so cute I just had to put it in...LOL.
**Before I begin I'd just like to say thanks to everyone for your kind words and prayers this last week. You are an amazing bunch of people and I'm thankful to have been included into your fold. I am feeling much better. Went home this weekend and spent Saturday at the farm. Had a little funeral and I made headstones for my girls. It was just what I needed. Went to the mountains with the quads on Sunday. All and all it was the breather I needed to have. Thanks again you guys. And a special thanks to Forensic for making my GGW car even more special. **
If you havent heard the news already, let me be the first to tell you. Toyota is taking over the world!! Dale Jr reigns supreme of all he surveys. (I cant say NASCAR cos we all know there's only ONE King of NASCAR).
Now Jr may be a king, but unfortunately he's much like the Queen of England. He's pretty much a figurehead with lots of money and no REAL power. (No Jr Nation, popularity is not really power. Get over it.). He is much loved by many, but has little to do. (**ducking as beer cans come flying at my head**)
Now where's the real power you say?? Maybe its here.....
Toyota execs caught on film as they get out of their cars for their top secret meetings with these guys.....
They meet in the dead of night, under heavy guard, in sub-terrainian meeting rooms under NASCAR Headquarters. Dirty deals are made and much money exchanges hands. It is arranged. Toyota shall have advantages that the other teams cannot. A blind eye to these will be turned by all officials during inspections. Satan's Child, Kyle shall win a guaranteed 4 more Cup races. They make it so.
The execs leave in their Hummer limos (who else could afford to put gas in those babies??) that they drive as a kind of 'salute' to those they are out to destroy. They chuckle to themselves as they plan and strategize. They guffaw with laughter as they think how NASCAR believes it made a deal for KB.
But these execs know...the REAL, Devil himself, is none other than.....
I've not had a nice evening I am afraid. The kitty is very very sad.
Forgive me, but this has absolutely nothing to do with NASCAR and is a complete downer, but I just had to write it down.
Today, when I got home from work, my mom called me. I could tell she was upset. She told me that they had had a bad thunderstorm out at the farm last night. A bolt of lightning hit very near the house about 11pm. Not thinking anything of it, they went to bed.
When they got up this morning, they found all 4 of my ponies, dead, right behind the shop. Lightning struck them where they stood huddled together in the storm. I am devastated. Three of these ponies have been with us for 25 years and the fourth was a child of one of the three. We saved them from being killed as wee babies, and pail bunted them for the first months of their lives. They were my friends and my confidantes. More than once they stood patiently while I cried my teenaged (and older)heart breaks into their necks. They carried us into the mountains on their backs to places few have ever been. They knew their own names and would come at the sound of a call, just to say hello. They weren't just horses, they were part of our family. I'm going to miss them tremendously.
The way it happened is the stupidest thing I've ever heard of in my life, but apparently it happens more than you think. Had they not been standing all together, or had they been in some other part of the field.....but they weren't. And now all of them are gone.
Hoggie,Red,Cocoa and Nippy.....I love you. Please dont laugh at their names. Yesterday I would have laughed with you, but today there is only tears.
These are not my ponies. I dont have any pics of them loaded on my puter and I dont think I could handle looking at their pictures right now. But these ponies look a lot like my girls.
First off..a comment about tonights race. It was a pretty good one! Especially considering I thought it may turn out to be a big snooze fest. It seems that tires were an issue, and leading the race meant you would be snake-bit at some point or other. The last five laps I think I was in shock because a) it looked like Smoke just might be cruising himself to a win....in MAY of all times...lol and b) he was doing it at LOWES of all places. But alas, it was not to be. One thing I will say, a lot of people have mentioned that he hit the wall. In fact he did not. (I just went and watched it again to be sure.) The yappy dudes in the booth said at first that he was in the wall, but then on the replay it shows his car takin a hard right, towards it, but he kept it off. DW even went so far as to say he "did a whale of a job keepin it off that wall". Now I have to wonder if they should have taken at least right sides on that second to last pit stop instead of fuel only. But hindsight is 20/20 and what they did seemed to be workin...lol. Guess it serves me right for laughing when JJ's engine blew. (Sorry Pea..lol) But great job to Kasey Kahne and JG and Jr for takin the risk and getting those cars both top 5's.
Now on to what I really wanna talk about!
We all know it takes a lot to run a successful Cup team and what it takes "a lot" of most is money..lol. But there's lots of other things that have to happen as well. Of course, these are what the money is spent on! You need great facilities, a wind tunnel, a 7 post shaker rig and all the other high tech paraphanalia that money can buy. You need engineers stacked on engineers to run this stuff. You need to put the right people into the right positions, from the "Big Cheese" right down to the guy who sweeps the shop floor. One of THE most important people is your Crew Chief. You need a guy up there on the box and in the shop who can build a great car and call an even better race. If you luck out and get some chemistry in there between the CC and the driver, then you may just win yourself a Cup Championship.
There's been a lot of great CCs through the years. I thought I'd list my top five....I'd love to hear yours!
1. Chad Knaus - much as I love to hate the 48 team, I think Chad is a genius of a CC and if I was lookin for someone to head up my team, he'd top my list.
2. Robby Reiser - he may have taken MK to one of the most boring Championships ever and be the reason we now have "The Chase" but the guy is tops as a CC. Roush has moved him up now to oversee all the teams. I don't really think that's working so well for Matt, but I guess time will tell.
3. Greg Zippadelli - 2 Cup Championships with one of the most 'difficult' personalities in NASCAR. Nuff said.
4. Ray Evernham - yeah I know. He's Mr Owner now. But what he did with Gordon in the 90's was phenomenal.
5. This is the 'Wildcard' pick...lol. He's probably the 'hottest' CC in all the NASCAR series right now - Dave Rogers. The JGR #20 car has dominated the Nationwide Series so far this year with 3 different drivers. Granted they are all three top Cup Drivers, but that being said, Rogers has that car on rails. The true test is going to come when Lugano takes the wheel. How well will the barely 18 yr old "better than sliced bread" driver do in this car??
I tried to keep this pretty 'current'. But there are many that could be on this list. Kurt Shelmerdine, Herb Nab, and Dale Inman are just a few I could name. Now how about you??
**disclaimer** It wasbrought to my attention today by some mean, vicious, bitter little person (a non regular here) that I am one of the most hated bloggers on this site and at least a dozen of you out there cant stand me. I find that quite an accomplishment considering my short time here, but the source is not reliable, and I dont really care if it's true or not. To very loosely paraphrase the late, great Dale Sr. " I dont care if they're cheeriing or if they're booing, as long as they're makin noise". Nuff said.
When is cheating ‘OK’?? That’s a question I’ve been asking myself all day long. Now I’m not talking about cheating in a relationship…I’m talking about cheating in sports, especially professional sports. Its running ramped in many of the professional sports, yet not much is done to stop it. It seems that as long as there is a ton of money floating around, it’s ok to do whatever the heck you feel like doing. Some sports are better than others at policing the issue. So why can’t they all be like that??
Like it or not, agree with it or not, the people playing these sports are HUGE role models for kids, and what the kids see, the kids are going to do. Take steroids, become Johnny Fabulous Baseball Player, Wrestler, Football Dude, Hockey Dude…whatever. Even if the guy eventually gets caught, it’s not until he’s become richer than Midas, and has become a hero to his team’s fans. Basically the kids are seeing that even though Johnny got caught and everyone’s horrified now, he still made it to the big leagues and he still is loaded. It’s not really all bad is it??
The Olympics are held up as our great ideal and best example of what the true meaning of sportsmanship and friendly competition is. They tolerate no cheating of any kind, and if someone is caught out it becomes a very serious matter. So why can’t this ideal be upheld in all sport?? One word….money. Add that into the mix and sportsmanship, fair play, and integrity fly out the window.
I don’t want to get heavy into the drug issue. Some sports are very intolerant of the use of any illegal substance, and take extreme action should someone be caught using something they shouldn’t. Other sports, well…not so much.
Let’s pretend for a moment….
Its game seven of the Stanley Cup Playoffs and Team Wonderful is playing Team Fabulous. Unknown to all, Team Wonderful has discovered some new propulsion technology. The all have little hidden jet-like propulsion mechanisms in their skates, enabling them to skate circles around Team Fabulous. The game ends 10-0, but later, during the celebrations someone lets slip about their secret and they are discovered. The team is fined, the coaches reprimanded and fined but the result of the game still stands. In spite of everything Team Wonderful still goes home Stanley Cup Champions. Fair?? Hardly. Something you’d want your kids to think is OK?
Now let’s pretend that it’s the Super Bowl. Team Wonderful and Team Fabulous are playing. Team Wonderful is your ultimate favorite team and you’re sure they’ll win, but the game is a total blowout with Team Fabulous victorious. But alas..Team Fabulous is discovered to have been cheating. They rigged the football so that it would give electric shocks and was activated remotely every time your team got the ball. Team Fabulous is fined, reprimanded, put on probation..blah blah blah, yet the game still stands and they are Champions regardless. How happy are you as Team Wonderful was pretty much shafted and nothing was done about it?? Is it ok that Team Fabulous was cheating?? I didn’t think so.
Now let’s move to NASCAR. Yes you knew I’d get there eventually didn’t you? LMAO. 3fan's blog about Jack and the sway bar got me to thinking. Is it cheating? Now I say no. NASCAR has so many restrictions on these guys lately, it's amazing they can find anything at all to gain an advantange. And NASCAR has been built on Crew Chiefs always pushing the limits to find that extra edge.
But when does it go too far?? And when does the whole penalty situation start to become consistant. NASCAR has so many rules now that I doubt anyone knows even half of them anymore. And when they find something they dont like and cant find an appropriate rule already in place they fall back on the granddaddy of them all; "incidents detrimental to stock car racing"....The ultimate Golden Rule. It cant be agured with as the folks up there in the board room have become deaf dumb and blind.
So again we imagine, lets go back to a couple years ago.....
So #### has the points lead. But should he?? Earlier in the season…oh let’s see..at what race again?? Oh yeah…DAYTONA…the FIRST race of the bloody season, the 48 team was caught CHEATING. Their car did not pass inspection. They were fined..($50 grand is pocket change to these people) and his crew chief was suspended and 25 whopping points were taken away…yet the #### was still allowed to race (in the same car) and win the race, giving him 100+ championship points. Should his victory have stood? Damn right it shouldn’t have.
NASCAR has some great things. They have zero tolerance for drugs. They try to police the crew chiefs and their actions but they are lacking woefully in the punishment department and your punishment for anyone who gets caught seems to depend solely on WHO you are.
I seriously think that Hendrick has some kind of deal with NASCAR officials and Mike Helton. There are kickbacks or a lot of other money exchanging hands there I’m thinking. Cos Hendrick cars can get away with pretty much anything. Jimmie and Chad have been caught cheating several times in the last few years, yet receive barely a wrist slap and are sent out to do it again. Kyle Busch threw a glove out his window during a race this in order to bring out a caution and during another race, a piece of his roll bar foam mysteriously flew out a window. Did he get punished or slapped with any fines etc?? NOPE. Nothing. “ The evidence was inconclusive” says NASCAR. Yeah ####. Everyone and their dog knew who it was. But it was a Hendrick car again. Don’t wanna make poor Rick cry. Robbie Gordon threw a piece of his roll bar foam out his window in Atlanta. He needed a caution to get himself back on the lead lap. Was he punished??? Damn skippy he was. He got 50 driver and owner points taken away. Fifty is a lot of points…but hey he’s not a Hendrick car is he? Now this year Denny gets black flagged for basically the same thing (although I still have my doubts as to purposely give KB an edge..but thats another blog in itself). He gets black flagged but no penalties. Mikey goes psycho and nothing. Is it now Toyota with some serious pull??? Who knows.
So why aren’t these cheaters DQ’d for the race they cheat in? I guarantee they’d think twice before doing it again if that’s what happened when you do. Their sponsors would be livid…and let’s face it, the sponsors are where A LOT of the big bucks come from. No sponsors=no money=no team=no job for driver and crew. That year Jimmie Johnson would have 100+ less points because he’d have 0 for Daytona cos he’s a cheating ####. He’d not be on top of the standings.
But apparently it’s OK to cheat in NASCAR. Let's go back to Infineon last year shall we? JG and JJ parked for practice and qualifying...better but still not enough in my opinion. The 100 point thing is getting better too but is it still enough??
It’s still A-OK that the guy who cheats the most becomes the Champ. You may dislike drivers because of perceived personality traits or faults…God knows I do….but I think the best reason of all to dislike a team is because they CHEAT. They need an extra edge to play with the big boys and apparently it’s ok. After all, money talks……I hope your kids aren’t learning their value systems from these guys. That’s scary.
I posted this entry a couple months or so ago on another site and I am re-posting it here. I know it isnt NASCAR and I'll prolly be in trouble for it but I dont have time to write a blog tonight. I've been asked by a friend of the male persuasion to go to a local watering hole and see what kind of trouble we can get into. Knowing him it may be quite a lot so if you dont see me for awhile it may be because I'm on a Thelma and Louis type road trip!! LMAO
Many have asked me why I'm still single at my age. I thought I'd share just one of the infinate reasons...Enjoy!
Well sit down folks and grab a cuppa cawfee because this is gonna be a lonnnnng one. I thought I would share with you some stories about what its like to be a single gal wading through the rough waters of the dating game. This installation is the story of my one and only foray into blind dating.
So a few years ago I was living in MyBigCity. I was about six months out of a bad relationship and started feeling like maybe it was time to put my hook back in the water so to speak. I was working full time and going to school at night so needless to say my social life was pretty much non-existent. After much humming and hawing I decided to join a personals dating site. After emailing back and forth with a few people that I just didn’t click with I met someone who was pretty interesting. He was close to my age, had just moved from AnotherBigCity and was a paleontologist. Too cool! We emailed for a bit and I was feeling comfortable enough to give him my phone number so we could arrange to meet face to face.
He called me up and we chatted for a bit and decided to go out for dinner and a movie the next night. The next morning he gave me a quick call to ask how I would be dressing that evening; would it be casual, dressy cas etc so he could do likewise. I told him I’d be wearing something dressy cas like a short skirt and a silk t-shirt. I was thinking..wow..someone who thinks about his appearance!! Then he asks me if I would mind driving as he had sold his car when he moved and hadn’t bought a new one yet. I thought it was kinda odd that he didn’t bring his car with him as it’s only about a 10-hour drive from AnotherBigCity to MyBigCity but OK..whatever. I said I’d drive..no problem.
So the appropriate hour rolls around and off I go to pick up Mr. Dino-man. He lived in an older part of town but his apartment complex looked well kept so I didn’t have any alarm bells ringing as I pulled up and parked. I got out and went to the door and rang the buzzer for his apartment. He said he’d be right down. OK..big breath..here we go. Down the stairs bounced a guy. I thought it couldn’t possibly be him..it must just be someone else who lived in the building. Mr. Dino-man was 6’3, 200 lbs, handsome, snazzy dresser etc etc. THIS guy was 5’10 (barely) and 220..not so handsome, and his clothes….well his pants were a yellowish green and had that sheen that only comes from not being washed in a VERY long time . He was wearing some kind of indistinguishable t-shirt underneath – OMG – one of those Corona hoodies that looked like they were woven out of straw. You remember those I know you do! He smiled and opened the door and said ‘Kendra?”. I was stunned. It was my guy! Now what do I do? I should have just said “God NO” and walked away but I grit my teeth and smiled and led him to the car. Off we go.
The movie we wanted to see was right downtown so I headed in that direction, trying to make interesting small talk as we went. All of a sudden this guy picks up my wallet/pocketbook from the dash of the car and starts rifling through it!! OMFG! I don’t know if you guys know this but it is a definite NO NO to go through a woman’s purse…especially a woman you hardly know!!!!! I was completely flabbergasted and when he pulled a couple 20’s out and started waving them around joking about keeping them I almost went postal on his head. We were crossing the river at that time and I tell ya if we’d been in the outside lane I’d have opened the door and pushed him out over the railing!!!! Anyway, he finally caught on that I was less than happy and settled back for some more, by now, very stilted small talk.
We get downtown and find a place to park within almost striking distance of the theatre. I figured I could maintain long enough to get through the movie and then take him home. So we get in line and as we are slowly making our way up to the ticket booth he comes out with “ I’ll pay for the movie or for dinner but I wont pay for both” . Holy hell Batman how do I get myself into these things???? I say fine, I will just pay for myself, don’t worry about it. Once inside I make a beeline for our theatre as I can’t wait to get to where I don’t have to talk or look at this #### for a whole 2 hours..but NOOOO…####knutz has to get in line for candy. So after he’s got his Mega-sized coke and pack of Jr. Mints..(yes I still think of that Seinfeld episode) we make it inside. Of course by now the previews are over and the movie has started and we have to feel our way into a couple of seat. Oh well..less time till its over… Everything’s great now..the movie’s ok and I can ignore ####knutz…UNTILLLLLLLLLL……
BOOM! Blindsided by ####knutz laying a big wet kiss on me!!! Not only is this just icky cos he’s gross and by now I hate him…but he’s trying to stuff some half chewed Jr. Mints into my mouth with his tongue…OH MY #### GOOD GAWWWWWD!!! I push him away and start wiping my tongue with a napkin..freaking out and yelling ‘Are you bloody INSANE???”. Needless to say I stormed out of the theatre…ready to just go home and leave Mr. ####knutz on his own!!!! But he follows me out..Apologizing and whining all the way back to the car. So ok FINE! I’ll take you home!! So after paying the parking attendant the equivalent of half a month’s pay to leave the parking arcade..(and yes you guessed it, no offer from ####knutz to throw in a couple bucks), I head back to his place.
Now the whining begins again…we never ate dinner..could we please at least go through a drive through and pick something up?..and can we stop at work? I want to show you something..whine whine #### moan. So fine..I take him through a Taco Bell drive through…roflmao …and OK ill stop at his work. It might be a night saver to see some really cool fossils or something. So we stop at his work and inside we go. And guess what?? THERES NO FOSSILS!! Surprise! (Yeah I was amazed too…I mean he’d been soooo honest so far… ) He wasn’t a paleontologist by a long shot. He made tacky tourist type jewelry out of pretty #### rocks…
So long story short…and yes I know Its been a long one! I took ####knutz home…he did ask me if I wanted to come up and see his Parrot..PARROT?? I didn’t even ask…I don’t wanna know!!!
I was going to write a blog tonight that was clever and interesting. I am not going to write it. LOL. I'm just wayyyyy too tired. I'm going to have a nice soak in a hot bath and crawl into my beddy bye for a nice long sleep. I promise to blog tomorrow. All of you have a wonderful evening and be good!!
Actually, its really a story about a psychotic (for real, not just a medicated kitty) named Jen. It's quite entertaining really and yes it even fits in that NASCAR category. Now what more could you possibly ask for?? LOL.
I think that kitty bears a somewhat vague resemblance to Yoda...but I digress. Now the reason I've decided to tell this story is because of the little blog drama that occurred here the last few days. I tried to stay out of it as best I could (which is pretty darn good for me as I do tend to go off the handle at people who I think deserve a #### slap or two, especially when it is in defense of a friend) and as I'm relatively new around these parts I figured I would try to keep the friends I've made without alienating anyone this early in the game!
I saw it mentioned in some comments that the person stirring the pot could be someone who has appeared before with several ID's and is a trouble maker. I thought I'd share my story from another blogville a couple of years ago.
This is the story of Jen....Psycho extraordinaire and one time guest of the State of Indiana, thanks in part to Tony Stewart's lawyers. Yes...believe it people!! And all you posers out there read the story and take heed, as sometimes your shenanigans can go just a bit too far! So my circle of blog peeps and I were happily blogging away in our little world. Many of us were NASCAR bloggers, others were bloggers about daily life, humorous storytellers and all kinds of people with interesting topics. Now one day into our Blogville showed up another person. This was fairly common and we liked to welcome new people. She began commenting on all the blogs and eventually started to write her own. Now I dont want to sound like an #### but her blogs were just not good. Her spelling and grammar were atrocious and it was almost like she was trying too hard. Several of us commented a few times, and tried to encourage her but apparently she didn't feel loved enough. So she came back with the grand plan of letting it 'slip' that she was indeed the much loved cousin of one Mr. Tony Stewart. She began blogging about her adventures with her famous cousin. Ok now before any of you get your undies in a twist, no one actually believed her, but we let her do her thing as it was more than amusing to see what she'd come up with next.
She began posting pics that were from the 'family photo albums', yet all of which could be found online, and in some cases she forgot to cut off the bottom of the picture where it said things like "Getty Images" etc. LMFAO. It was also amusing to note that Tony wears his Home Depot fire suit at family gatherings!! Bet ya'll didn't know that huh?? She also knew very little about Tony and once when I asked how close she was to his sister "Natasha" she went off on a story without even bothering to correct me and tell me that it was Natalie.
Anyway, it went on and on. She was invited to New York for the Awards thingy and even posted her self wearing a prom dress that she probably wore when she was an extra for the taping of the original movie version of Carrie, starring Sissy Spacek.
I mean this thing was FUGLY! It even went so far as to her having to step in at the last minute to be Jr's date because his canceled on him and he couldnt find anyone else. AAAAHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHA. The day Jr cant find a date is surely a sign of the apocalypse. What was even funnier was that this was the year Smoke won the Championship and Jr didnt even make the Chase, so was therefore not even at the damn Awards. Sheesh.
The final straw came when Jen decided that she was going to host a "charity auction". She put a list of NASCAR memorabilia up and claimed that it was sanctioned by Tony himself. She made up a foundation, using his name and she auctioned off these items online. People were to send money to a post office box in somewhere Indiana and she would send them the item they purchased.
Now my friends and I knew better and we warned all we could, but some people were taken in by this and actually sent her money. When we found out, we were livid. We confronted her. We called the cops and to put the cherry on it, we called Tony Stewart Inc in Indy. Eventually we were talking to Tony's Mom. She sicked the dogs on Miss Jenn after we faxed her all the blogs etc that we could find.
Soon Jenn was a guest of the State of Indiana. But in the meantime she came back to Blogville and started blogging about her sad sad life. Her dad died, her hubby died, she had cancer, her boyfriend beat her, her kid was a crackhead etc etc, all in the space of about 3 weeks. When her play on the sympathy card didnt work, she started coming back as about a dozen new people, hoping to wreak havoc in Blogville as payback for what we'd done to her. It was sad.
So that's a lesson I guess for the posers out there ready to stir up the #### Careful what you wish for cos there just may be a cute orange jumpsuit in it for you too!! Love ya!!
I've been itching to write a blog for a couple days now but everytime I sit down to write I see another issue arising that I want to address! Damn ya'll are so quick to change topics!! LOL. So bear with me here in my musings folks as you may just notice this blog jumping from place to place and turning into a convoluted mess!! YAAYYYYY. And no I didnt forget to take my medication!!
First off, because I have just learned so darn much from them, I want to rant and rave a la "the Nation who shall not be named". I WANT ELLIOT SADLER'S HEAD ON A PLATTER. HE NEEDS TO BE DISEMBOWLED, BEHEADED AND SHOT AT SUNRISE! HE'S A MANIAC ON THE TRACK AND SHOULD BE PARKED FOR A DECADE AT LEAST!!
Ok, Im done!! Did I do it justice?? Was that as idiotic as some of you Jr. fans are starting to sound like??
Yeah, I was mad and disappointed that Smoke's day was pretty much done on lap 2 but was I ready to run out and throw beer cans at Sadler and his fans, or threaten lives and say he'd better get some extra security to guard himself from BIG BAD ME?? Uhhhh...NO. I'll just take it for what it was, Elliot got loose and collected Smoke. It sure as hell wasnt intentional, nor was it some big conspiracy.....or was it????? DA DUMMMMMM....
Now for the rest of the race. I guess someone forgot to tell Kyle Busch that he should be wary and careful of the Lady In Black. She loves to dish it out and will only take so much. KB didnt heed the warnings and every slap the lady gave him, both with penalties and slaps of the wall, he just ignored them and kept on going and he drove an amazing race. I'm not a KB fan....yet. I still think he's got to prove himself over time. But drives like that definately make me stand up and take notice. They should you too!
So Jr fans I have to say it. A lot of you only cheer for him because everyone else in the "in" crowd does. Many of you couldnt name me five other drivers in the Cup today, let alone give me a list of the greats. But I bet ya know all about his latest commercial, bar opening or franchise deal dont ya? Dont get me wrong. I like Jr. I'm just not so excited about his fan base at the moment. I've met some level headed ones, REAL race fans, but yowza some of the others...Puuulease! And if ya dont like it...here's happy bunny to sum it up...
Well first practice for both NW and Cup are in the books. The most hated dude in NASCAR blogland sits atop the leaderboard for now, with Denny (Public enemy #2) right behind. Are these two flippin the NASCAR Nation the bird?? Ahhhhh...a point to ponder! Behind them comes Mr. Give me at least 50 ft of room on all sides because of my name...Earnhardt Jr. The big (yes I said big) Smoke is 5th and Mr. Travis Kerbopple hangs there in 4th.
I know that practice means exactly...well....nothing when it comes to a race but I found it interesting none the less and just couldnt resist taking a poke at whoever may be around with an unprotected body part to poke!
I was also surfing around on the ever popular Google and found myself an interesting pic. Now I dunno if its been photo-shopped. I suspect that it has been, but it did make me laugh and I just had to share it with ya'll. Talk about things that make you go HMMMMM....LMAO!
Now if it was Jeff and Jimmie, I'd be more inclined to think it was real!! :P Maybe ole Junebug is going to fit in better at HMS than anyone ever dare dreamed....oh I know..I'm bad...but I just cant help it! I'm so good at it... :D
Now bring on the hate people....cant wait to hear what this is gonna stir up!
Words to think about. Powerful words. Words with generic definitions, yet words with terrific undercurrents of meaning defined by the individual, based on personal beliefs and experience. To each one of us, these words mean something different if you dig beyond the generic.
To me, these words are linked by invisible threads. These threads, although invisible, are made of indestructible material. They are not simply threads of gossamer broken by gentle breezes. They are threads of special titanium-like fibers that can withstand the severest storm and batterings of monumental proportions.
Friendship is a precious gift, given and received infinitely, with love and RESPECT between 2 people. It is something to be cherished and nurtured. It is earned and it is not to be taken lightly or abused. Much effort goes into the building of a friendship, it is not something that just ‘happens’ and if effort is not sustained, it soon withers and dies. In order for one to maintain an adult friendship (For the sake of alleviating argument I will concede that adult friendship and childhood friendship are somewhat different, mainly due of course to age and maturity.) a certain level of MATURITY is required. One must be mature enough to realize that people are different and opinions differ, again based on personal beliefs and experience. One must realize that every person looks at a situation through a filter of those same beliefs and experience and no two filters are ever going to be the same. So times of conflict are sure to arise and to the filters anger, hurt and resentment will be added. But if each one remembers the importance of FRIENDSHIP and can be MATURE enough and RESPECTFUL of each other enough, to be able to talk about the differences and to really be able to listen to each other’s reasons behind those differences, the conflict can often be resolved or a compromise can be reached. Give and take…RESPECT for differences and the MATURITY to disagree. FRIENDSHIP.
Now you add several people to the mix and suddenly you have a COMMUNITY. Within that community there are several different friendships and not all will be the same. Several smaller circles will develop, but all will overlap at some point or other and every person will have a vested interest in the community as a whole. Now if one bad apple happens to insert themselves within said community and that apple continues to rot, yet is adept at covering the slightly moldy smell with flowery words, and sleight of hand tricks, things can go seriously amuck.
Because this apple knows nothing of MATURITY, and has little RESPECT for anyone or anything, it starts whispering in people’s ears and coercing some of the people of the community to lose RESPECT for each other and forget the meaning of FRIENDSHIP. But the smell and oozing rot cannot be hidden forever, and sooner or later something happens and the apple explodes, leaving an icky mess dripping off the walls and the faces of those closest to the apple. The apple’s true colors and horrible smell are soon reveled.
But the apple soon finds that not all of the community was under its evil spell, and they have not forgotten what COMMUNTIY, RESPECT, MATURITY, and most of all FRIENDSHIP really is. They’ve seen the apple for what it really was and were merrily waiting patiently for the inevitable explosion, ready to help clean the faces of the friends affected. They soothe, they hug, they accept apologies and most of all have the MATURITY and RESPECT for their FRIENDS to forgive them their transgressions. The COMMUNITY is once again intact. What is left of the apple and its colossal and totally unfounded ego is left alone in the gutter, to once again consort with its equals.
Ahhhh kiddies....The Lady In Black.... This week's race is under the lights in Darlington SC. The egg-shaped oval steeped in history and one of the very toughest tracks on the Cup circuit.
This is one track where the boys have to beat the track, not each other. Notoriously hard on tires and turns 1 & 2 lying in wait to give you the infamous 'Darlington Stripe', its a matter of saving your stuff, taking 4 tires on each and every caution, and being there at the end. The real racing happens during the last 50 laps...the rest is there just to weed out the men from the boys.
Here's a pic of the busiest guy on the track! LMAO. He's painting over a few of the 'stripes'. The object of turns one and two is to be as close to the wall as possible, without actually trading paint. Extremely tough to do. The Lady's waitin and she's hungry.....
Predictions are impossible here really, especially now that they've repaved the track. There have been 9 winners in the last 10 races and people are throwing names out like Biffle (who won 2yrs ago) to Kahne to JJ and last year's winner Jeff Gordon...and lets not forget that this track is notorious for chewing up the rookies and spittin them out. . And of course there's Kyle B, Kenseth,Stewart and Jr. I'm not gonna pick one this time. Of course my heart's with Tony, but who knows what the Lady's got in store for us!
The race is under the lights Saturday night, so the boys have Mother's Day off to spend with their wives, moms, grammas etc. I'll be spending the day at home, having a family barbeque with my own Mommy. Hope ya'll have a great weekend!!
