I've not had a nice evening I am afraid. The kitty is very very sad.
Forgive me, but this has absolutely nothing to do with NASCAR and is a complete downer, but I just had to write it down.
Today, when I got home from work, my mom called me. I could tell she was upset. She told me that they had had a bad thunderstorm out at the farm last night. A bolt of lightning hit very near the house about 11pm. Not thinking anything of it, they went to bed.
When they got up this morning, they found all 4 of my ponies, dead, right behind the shop. Lightning struck them where they stood huddled together in the storm. I am devastated. Three of these ponies have been with us for 25 years and the fourth was a child of one of the three. We saved them from being killed as wee babies, and pail bunted them for the first months of their lives. They were my friends and my confidantes. More than once they stood patiently while I cried my teenaged (and older)heart breaks into their necks. They carried us into the mountains on their backs to places few have ever been. They knew their own names and would come at the sound of a call, just to say hello. They weren't just horses, they were part of our family. I'm going to miss them tremendously.
The way it happened is the stupidest thing I've ever heard of in my life, but apparently it happens more than you think. Had they not been standing all together, or had they been in some other part of the field.....but they weren't. And now all of them are gone.
Hoggie,Red,Cocoa and Nippy.....I love you. Please dont laugh at their names. Yesterday I would have laughed with you, but today there is only tears.
These are not my ponies. I dont have any pics of them loaded on my puter and I dont think I could handle looking at their pictures right now. But these ponies look a lot like my girls.
ken...so sorry to hear about your loss. I couldn't imagine having pets for that long, and then to lose all of them at once, heartbreaking. We're all here if you need anything.
Sorry for your loss Kitty. Be thankfull for the time you had with them. Also the storms have done much more. west of me less than 2 hours on rt 20 to Iowa last sunday a town was ripped in half. This year has just been a very bad year the storms just dont want to quit. So remember the rides you had. The feedings you gave. And the memorys you made....
Sweet...No, smiles today from the peafowl as a horse owner I have seen this before. My horse Ghost Dancer, was killed by a flash flood. And my friend lost two of her prize horses, when lighting hit one it killed both. I understand and feel your pain. I am so sorry for your loss.
Kena~This is one of the saddest stories I have heard. Can't imagine losing that many members of your 'family' at once. Choked us all up, you are in our prayers. 8-(
sweetk- As a fellow horse owner and lover my heart goes out to you...I am so sad with you. Take comfort in the fact they had a wonderful life with you. Let us know if you need anything.
So sorry to hear of your tragic loss. I cant imagine losing all 4 valued family pets at once. Remember all the good times you shared with them and the happiness they brought to you and your family.
Very sorry for your loss. It's very difficult to lose what is close to you. 25 years is a good life. I still think about the dogs I cared for during my life. At one point just decided that that was enough and I didn't want to experience that loss of a dear pet friend again.
Kena - That is very sad. Bless the Beasts and the Children...I am so sorry for your loss. I love horses too. You know they are up there racing with the Triple Crown winners now and having a blast though, right?
Like you Moseby, I had 2 best friends who lived with me, one for 15 years and one for 13 and at the time, it was more than half of my life with two best friends who could not have been more loyal or unconditionally loving. I no longer have dogs because it was too hard to lose them, Duffy and Popper, 2 West Highland White Terriers.
I am sure these pets are like family to you. It is such a tragic loss when some thing or some one you love is lost. At least you had a few years to enjoy them and I am sure you will see them again some day.
As you can tell from all the comments you are not alone and never will be. Nothing we can say can give you back what you have lost, all we can do is let you know we are thinking of you in your saddest hours. With hope our comments give you the support to get you threw it all.
I am very sorry to hear of your lost. You will be in my prayers for some happyness around the next corner sweet. God bless... Jamie
I'm 36, single and a professional. I love writing, love to blog and am a huge huge fan of NASCAR. If ya cant already tell by the prevailing orange theme...Smoke 's the man! But I like a lot of other drivers and some of their fans! If you're passionate about this sport then let's get at it! I'm here to have fun, have some great debates and to learn. I'm not interested in 'Hooking up", nor am I interested in slinging insults with a bunch of haters. I'f thats your thing then just please move along. Otherwise stick around and lets talk NASCAR!
