Ahhhh kiddies....The Lady In Black.... This week's race is under the lights in Darlington SC. The egg-shaped oval steeped in history and one of the very toughest tracks on the Cup circuit.
This is one track where the boys have to beat the track, not each other. Notoriously hard on tires and turns 1 & 2 lying in wait to give you the infamous 'Darlington Stripe', its a matter of saving your stuff, taking 4 tires on each and every caution, and being there at the end. The real racing happens during the last 50 laps...the rest is there just to weed out the men from the boys.
Here's a pic of the busiest guy on the track! LMAO. He's painting over a few of the 'stripes'. The object of turns one and two is to be as close to the wall as possible, without actually trading paint. Extremely tough to do. The Lady's waitin and she's hungry.....
Predictions are impossible here really, especially now that they've repaved the track. There have been 9 winners in the last 10 races and people are throwing names out like Biffle (who won 2yrs ago) to Kahne to JJ and last year's winner Jeff Gordon...and lets not forget that this track is notorious for chewing up the rookies and spittin them out. . And of course there's Kyle B, Kenseth,Stewart and Jr. I'm not gonna pick one this time. Of course my heart's with Tony, but who knows what the Lady's got in store for us!
The race is under the lights Saturday night, so the boys have Mother's Day off to spend with their wives, moms, grammas etc. I'll be spending the day at home, having a family barbeque with my own Mommy. Hope ya'll have a great weekend!!
I absolutely LOVE Darlington. One of my very favorite tracks on the circuit. Darlington DESERVES to have its Labor Day weekend date back.
The track itself has been repaved, and it's much smoother now than it used to be. It's going to be scary fast--I wouldn't be surprised if there is another Big One.
I can't wait for the first time they barrel down into turn 1 at over 200 mph, then have to figure out how they're going to negotiate the corner... I'm guessing a few won't get it right the first time, or second, or 312th... (gonna be a lot of stripes) lol
Nice to have you aboard, Smoke fans are always welcome in my book.
Darlington ... hmmm ... I've only been there once back in 1995. There was about 17 cautions and I loved it. MAYBE Smoke will get his first win this year and will start his winning streak early this season!
I'm 36, single and a professional. I love writing, love to blog and am a huge huge fan of NASCAR. If ya cant already tell by the prevailing orange theme...Smoke 's the man! But I like a lot of other drivers and some of their fans! If you're passionate about this sport then let's get at it! I'm here to have fun, have some great debates and to learn. I'm not interested in 'Hooking up", nor am I interested in slinging insults with a bunch of haters. I'f thats your thing then just please move along. Otherwise stick around and lets talk NASCAR!
