Ok, so as of yesterday, the leading rusher for Virgina Tech was dismissed from the team. The reason? He had a bad attitude. Frank Beamer, the head coach at VT for going on 21 seasons, kicked a redshirt senior running back that always seemed to produce for his annemic offense because he "didn't have a relationship" with the guy? The hell? This guy made it through BOTH the Vick's and he kicks Brandon Ore off now? Good for him!
I'm not asking "What the hell?" because he did it, I'm asking why it took so long? This is the guy who dropped out of classes to work at a 7-11 storehouse back home. This is the guy who never really embraced what he had. A guy who, for lack of a better phrase, wasted his talent.
He kicked Marcus Vick off the team for multiple infractions and refusing to adhere to the guidelines set before him. Yes, he stuck with the Dolphins when Nick Saban was there, but that's because Saban and Beamer are a lot alike. They ask a lot from young men and expect them to stick to it. I hope Ore, with he's college career for all intents and purposes over, can find some kind of rudder and see that this is good for him. Maybe this motivates him to go out and work hard enough for an NFL team to take a Marcus Vick type of flyer on him. Maybe it forces him to focus on whatever is important in his life and stick to it rather then waffling like he seems to have done in the past.
Honerable Mentions:
David Stern for calling the Seatlle arena push a PR stunt.
MLB for not clarifing the reimbursment that coaches and staff would recive for the upcoming trip to Japan for the Sox and A's.
The NCAA Selection Commitee for leaving Virgina Tech out of the field of 65. It took a last second miracle by the Heels to win that game. There were 64 better teams then the Hokies this year? Really?
I'm a Seattle sports fan with nothing better to do then to complain about sports. Be it the Mariners, Sonics, Seahawks, the UW Huskies, or anything else that trips my trigger, I'll always write how I feel about any given topic. I love college and pro football, but all sports are on display here.
