Its been a while since the draft but there has been no love for the Pittsburgh Steelers after they drafted the best WR in the draft by snatching Santonio Holmes. So I have decided that if others wont then why not hear it from a fanatic?

It is safe to say the loss of Antwan Randle El was their main focus in the 2006 Draft. It was absolutely essential for them to fill the hole he left in the offense after the Redskins signed him as a free agent (the ####s).

So what the Steelers needed was Speed and Gadget ability. Santonio has great speed and that’s where the gadget ability will come from. Although Santonio most likely will never replace Randle El’s arm he makes up for it with his superb catching ability.

How does his catching make up for El’s arm you ask?

Well, as a die-hard fan, it’s important to see past the skewed self-inflicted propaganda and realize that your team is not absolutely perfect. From the centers pinky finger to the kickers pink toe there are always going to be a few dents and scratches.

Now back to my point. Randle El always had a liability when it came time to actually catch the ball. He’s either running before completing the catch (with his added speed making it worse), or just plain not catching it. It’s happened enough times to make you scratch your head.

This, my friends, is where Santonio Holmes makes up for it. He is not a converted quarterback but a true blue receiver that has got receiving down to a science. He will take his already finely tuned talent and add NFL experience to become one of the NFL’s elite.

There was one thing that the Steelers really dropped the ball on though. (get it?) They chose not to draft a Corner, but hopefully they will end up grabbing an undrafted free agent.

And there it is folks, run away with it. You can take the liberty of putting some draft choices that get no love even though you know they should.
