I've sunk pretty low, but I'm pissed that my girlfriend beats me every
year in March Madness, so I'm eliciting the help of a computer program
this year to pick my bracket.
It's actually pretty cool and I suggest you take a look if you have some money on this March:
Although Memphis has done extremely well, their SOS looks a bit poor to merit the #1 label, especially considering what UNC has done this season.
With their only two losses coming to Duke and Maryland, and their incredible dominance over the strong ACC, UNC has solidified their claim to the #1 Ranking and has certainly earned their #1 seed in the NCAA Tourney.
Additionally, UNC is ranked #1 in the Power Rankings, as you can find here.
Speaking of the Tourney, I found a pretty cool (if you're geeky like me) program that might help us all run our office pools. It's worth a peak.
Hope you all have a great week and best of luck to your team in the conference tournaments!
This Saturday has been absurd! With only 2 weeks until Selection Sunday, several presumptive #1-2 seeds are on the verge of upset, throwing the whole prediction system into a state of chaos.
(AP #6) Duke barely scrapes by N.C. State (PowerRanked: 91) (AP #2) UNC down by 1 with 8 minutes left to BC (PowerRanked: 112) (#8) Stanford down by 5 to Wash. St. (PowerRank: 15) (#3) Memphis tied with Southern Miss (#5) Texas down to Tech (PowerRank: 63) (#14) Vanderbilt down to Arkansas (Power Ranking: 55)
And Kansas still has to take on Kansas St.!
One thing is for sure: whoever wins today stands to gain a lot of ground in the race for #1 and #2 seeds.
