Pesky forward Sean Avery is taking his act to the Lone Star
State.
The Dallas Stars signed Avery to a four-year, $16 million
contract, worth $4 million per season against the Stars cap.
Stars co-GM Brett Hull was apparently instrumental in
bringing Avery to Dallas, as the two used to be roommates when they played for
the Detroit Red Wings earlier in the decade.
Avery is a very good physical forward with a decent scoring
touch whose abrasive style should be a good fit with the Stars in the short
term, but his act tends to wear thin after a couple of seasons so it’ll be
interesting to see how things work out for him in Dallas.
Well at least he is in the west where Derrik Boogaurd and Darcy Tucker will get regular shots at killing him
Stuntman.
I hated Avery from day one after he cost us a playoff spot. But if I remember up until the day he was delt he was a god in kingsland. Don't you remember the stupid WWAD t-shirts. Letsgokings.com people did all but jump into bed with this guy and as typical Kings fans who are morons do. As soon as he is gone he is #1 on the hitlist.
Most Kings fans who understand the sport knows that Avery was a poor player that took a ton of bad penaltys and scored more meeingless goals than any player in history
There were 13 penaltys he took that the team we were playing either tied the game or took the lead on that power play and we lost the game. If you add that up in the 05-06 season thats 26 points and we missed the playoffs by 7. Dave Taylor said he would never skate for LA again at the end of that season and low and behold Dean takes over and we had to deal with him for a half season longer.
I wonder how Dave feels today sence he works for Dallas as well?

HAHA! This was done to keep up with the Wings and Hawks big signings. For all his 'goods' he brings more 'bads'. Not the best locker room guy, wouldn't be surprised to see Morrow smack him in the mouth at practice to smarten him up. He needs it.
Good riddance to Avery. Glad he's playing out west and the Rangers won't have to face him that often. After awhile with a team he must just wear out his welcome and needs to move on. Is there a job at Vouge Magazine in Dallas for him?
I'm a fan of Avery, but we've heard story after story about how the same things that made him a fan favorite make him hard to deal with in the room.
The Rangers added a couple of big tough guys (Rissmiller and Voros) to compete with Hollweg and Orr and I think that between the four of them they'll do plenty to agitate the other teams.
Plus, we're talking about a long term contract for a guy who missed significant time last season.
avery made all the difference in the world to the rangers and they are going to regret not signing him.... hes gunna agervate the red wings so much this year, they aint winning the cup agen

I cant stand Avery. I think he stinks and I am glad he is not on the Rangers anymore. I feel so bad for the players in Dallas. He's cocky and I think he sucks at hockey! He was well over paid if you ask me!
Avery's classless move in the playoffs waving his stick in front of Brodeur was the end for me. I love a guy that goes into the middle and fights, but you have to have a little respect for the game and fellow hockey players. He wants all the atttention and started diving in the playoff series, he might have been watching Crosby and Malkin. Rangers made good move by letting him go.
